On the first night of the "Kyushu Round Railway Trip," we stayed here. About four weeks ago, I made a reservation through the travel agency's website for the "Welcome Plan [Japanese-Western breakfast service] Artificial hot spring large public bath!; BASIC Single ◆ Smoking allowed ◆; 1 night free breakfast included; 1 person per room; 4,980 yen (tax/service charge included; city tax 150 yen, prefectural tax 50 yen extra)." We checked in around 10:50 pm on a weekday and checked out around 8:15 am on a weekday. The hotel is located west of Hakata Station, facing a street called "Hakata Ekimae Street." It's about a 5-minute walk from Hakata Station West Exit... quite a convenient location. There are neon signs, so it's easy to find. The building is 14 stories high with a sleek black exterior. The first floor has the front desk, lobby, breakfast venue (guest salon), separate male and female large bath (Active no Yu), and a free laundry room, while the 2nd to 14th floors have guest rooms. In front of the elevators on the guest room floors, there were self-service coffee machines, microwave ovens, trouser presses, etc. The interior of the building has a stylish business hotel feel. It's new and well-maintained. The front desk staff are friendly and courteous. During breakfast, it seemed like there were quite a few guests that day. Most of the other guests were solo business travelers or office workers, and there were also middle-aged couples and groups of 2-3 middle-aged women.
[Guest Room] We were assigned a single room on the 9th floor. The 9th floor seems to be a smoking floor. It was a bit small, but I didn't feel particularly inconvenienced. It was equipped with a unit bath (shower toilet), air conditioning, desk, one chair, TV, empty refrigerator, electric kettle, humidifying air purifier, etc. It's nice that there are three types of smartphone charging adapters available at the bedside of the bed. Also, you can check the congestion status of the breakfast venue and large bath on the TV, which was convenient.
[Large Bath] As mentioned earlier, there is a separate large bath for men and women on the 1st floor. The bathing hours were from 3 pm to 2 am and from 5 am to 9 am. The bathtub in the men's large bath was surprisingly spacious. I think more than ten people can bathe at the same time. It was labeled as "Carbonate Calcium Artificial Hot Spring," but I didn't particularly feel the hot spring-like qualities. Nevertheless, stretching out and bathing was pleasant.
[Breakfast] The breakfast venue has a clean and bright atmosphere. COVID-19 measures were taken seriously. There were about a dozen two-person table seats and several large table seats for sharing. Breakfast hours were from 6:30 am to 9:30 am, and I had mine from 7:10 am to 7:35 am. There were about 40 Japanese and Western dishes lined up at the buffet counter. Quite a variety. I think there were also several local dishes. The food was decently tasty. It's quite good for a complimentary breakfast. I was a bit surprised by the quite sweet taste of the "Gameni (Chikuzenni)." This hotel is convenient for the station, clean, has a large bath, and offers good value for money. It's quite nice. I recommend it for both business and sightseeing.
