In early March of the 28th year of Heisei, a middle-aged couple embarked on a 1 night, 2 day gourmet trip to Hakata for the fourth time! Last year, when we made a day trip to Hakata to eat Mizutaki, my drinking wife said, "Next time, let's have motsunabe!" Three months later, the old couple returned to Hakata once again. We checked into a business hotel near Hakata Station and searched for "motsunabe" on Tabelog, but many of the top-ranked restaurants were closed on Sundays. Among them, we chose "Motsunabe Waraku" on the 10th floor of the Hakata Station City Building. We arrived around 7 pm and found about 10 waiting customers on the chairs placed next to the store. The old couple sat at the end of the line thinking, "Well, we should be able to eat in about an hour," but surprisingly, the turnover of customers was quick, and we were seated in about 30 minutes. The first items we ordered were "Motsunabe soy sauce flavor for 2 people (@1180 yen each including tax)", "Minced fried chicken (850 yen)", "Half-size green salad (400 yen)", "Medium draft beer (@580 yen each)", Additional orders were 2 more draft beers and 2 shochu highballs, and finally, the "Chanpon noodles (300 yen)" as the finishing touch. The ingredients were of the orthodox type, including motsu, cabbage, leeks, garlic slices, and red pepper. When it was confirmed that it was our first visit, the staff, despite being busy, gave a polite explanation, and the serving and language were well-educated. Now, as for the taste of motsunabe, the soup was not too thin or too thick, slightly sweet, but just the right mellow flavor! The cabbage blended well with the soup, allowing us to savor the essence of motsunabe. The motsu had a nice chewy texture and a satisfying taste. The minced fried chicken was also delicious in a normal way. Overall, we felt that the taste, customer service, and cost performance were all satisfactory. As expected, I like the "soy sauce flavor" motsunabe!
