Visit on 11/17/2021. Drank too much in the afternoon, ended up with a hangover by evening. When in Kokura, you think of drinking at a standing bar! But I didn't even feel like having beer. I felt bad for my friend, but I ended up having udon for dinner because it seemed like something I could eat. When it comes to Shisan Udon, it's a soul food of Kitakyushu! I really wanted to try it, but I never thought I would go in this condition. They offer free toppings like tempura crumbs, shredded seaweed, and pickles on the table. There were about an equal number of people drinking and eating. However, it was difficult to order because there were few staff members in the hall. *Prices are as of 2021. ●Dinner: Wakame Udon with plenty of toppings ¥410, Oden egg ¥100, White rice ball ¥80 Despite having a hangover, I ate a lot, haha. The noodles were soft, fluffy, and chewy as typical of Kyushu. The rich broth really hit the spot for my hangover. I wanted to try the tempura too, but I just couldn't bring myself to eat fried food... The oden wasn't too sweet, which was good. ●Breakfast: Natto set meal ¥400, Changed to clam soup +¥110, Chicken meatballs x2 ¥190 I really wanted to have the famous clam soup! It had a lot of clams in it! The chicken meatballs are also a popular item, so I added them. They were sweet and savory, with cartilage inside. They are delicious as a snack or with rice! ●Takeout: Botamochi ¥130, Jumbo inari sushi ¥130, Small rolled sushi ¥260 The sushi rice is a bit sweet, but the jumbo inari sushi has a relatively light flavor. The rolled sushi has sweet tamagoyaki inside, so it's irresistible for egg lovers. The botamochi is large and not too sweet. They are handmade at the store. Shisan Udon was really good. It's the kind of place you'd want to visit regularly if it were in your local area! By the way, I've conquered two out of the three famous udon places in Kyushu, West and Shisan Udon, so I have to try Makino Udon next, haha.

I left the revolving sushi restaurant still feeling a bit hungry, so I decided to stop by this place. It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was quite busy as usual, showing its popularity. I ordered the meat gobō tempura, which was slightly larger in portion compared to the previous place. However, the broth was light and easy to eat. The noodles were different from Sanuki udon, being softer without a strong chewy texture. This might receive mixed reviews depending on the region. I had only visited this place after drinking before, but I would like to come back again for the side menu as well. I am planning to revisit this place sometime in the future.

I wasn't hungry, but I felt like eating before going home. I had some soft udon noodles for the first time in a year and a half. I chose it because I wanted burdock tempura. I wonder if udon with tempura is higher in calories than ramen? I bought some ohagi for breakfast on my way back. The sweet bean paste was not too sweet and the grains were just right, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

When I went to Kokura for work, I was recommended to try the delicious udon. It was my first time trying the soft and chewy udon from Fukuoka, and I heard that Zensan Udon is a chain store but it's rare to find one in the city center. The restaurant is quite spacious with many counter seats, and it operates like a chain store where you order using a tablet. They offer a variety of udon, yakisoba, rice bowls, and oden, and you can also enjoy drinks. I heard that the dessert, botamochi, is delicious. The most popular dish is the Niku Gobo Ten Udon for 720 yen. It comes with toppings like tempura crumbs, grated yam, and pickles. The flavorful soup is delicious, and the crispy tempura is a nice touch. I thought udon was supposed to be firm, but this soft noodle was surprisingly tasty. I understand why even Tamori recommends it. The noodle pairs well with the soup, and adding grated yam to mix with the udon is also good. I finished every last drop of the soup. You can buy their products at the store, airport, or online, so I think it's worth trying at least once.

I visited during lunchtime! I went in between work, and the soft udon here was very delicious! Also, it's great that they are open 24 hours! I only have a photo from lunchtime here, but actually, I went back that night to eat the tempura udon, that's how good it was!

After finishing up my errands in Kokura, I had lunch at this restaurant. I arrived at 3pm and was able to smoothly get a table. I ordered the Mini Don Set and Mini Katsu Curry (830 yen) using the touch screen at the table. I was full and satisfied after the meal.

Fukuoka is all about udon! Went to Saisan Udon in Kokura with my partner, where you can order using a touch panel. It's the way of the future! You can also order oden through the touch panel, but I wanted to do it myself, so I went to the oden corner and got some. The udon has a gentle soup base, and I personally prefer Makino Udon. But what I really liked was that you could add as much grated yam as you wanted. I added a lot! Along with the udon, we also had oden. The soup was dark, but not spicy, with a sweet broth. With this, you can easily enjoy udon at this restaurant.

Soft and chewy udon noodles! The broth has a gentle flavor, it's the best. Feeling a bit of stomach discomfort, I came here at night. The chewy noodles are irresistible... I love the flavorful soup. Kashiwa udon is my favorite after all. I forgot about my stomach discomfort and easily finished the meal!!

This is a udon restaurant chain centered around Fukuoka Prefecture. This time, I had their specialty Gobo Tempura Kashiwa Udon for 730 yen. By following the instructions to register on LINE inside the store, I received a 50 yen discount coupon, so it became 680 yen. As for the taste, the Gobo tempura was crispy, and the noodles were soft yet firm with a good elasticity typical of Fukuoka udon. Thank you for the meal.

I tried cold udon for the first time here and it was quite delicious. My companion added tempura to their half portion of udon. It was a perfect size for a post-drinking meal. On the way home, I bought a kashiwa onigiri for breakfast, which was also delicious.

The udon noodles in Osaka are similar in softness. The broth is delicious too. I visited in the morning and ordered kitsune udon, which came with two thick pieces of fried tofu, making it very filling. The complimentary toppings of grated yam and tempura bits were a nice touch. I will definitely go back next time to try the oden.

I'm really happy that I can visit even late at night for a closing meal. Suke-san Udon has a different taste from others. It's soft but has just the right amount of firmness... Even past midnight, the restaurant was quite lively!!! This udon makes me want to live in this area...

The udon restaurant in front of Kokura Station is crowded during lunchtime on weekdays. I ordered the parent and child bowl with mini udon set for 860 yen using a tablet. The parent and child bowl was satisfying, and adding dried seaweed and chili pepper on the table made it even more delicious. The udon broth goes well with the bowl.

Visited on a regular night. The meat gobo ten udon (noodle soup with meat and burdock tempura) regular size for 760 yen. The set with mini gyudon (beef bowl) and mini udon is no longer available! The sweet beef gyudon and udon soup combo, the ultimate cost performance, is no longer there! I tried operating the tablet multiple times but it didn't show up... In the end, I went for the popular No. 1 meat gobo ten udon. Sweet soup with soft noodles. The tempura had a nice texture with 5 pieces. Plenty of meat in it, and it paired perfectly with the soup. I enjoyed adding some kelp halfway through. It was gone in no time. The soul food of Kitakyushu! Delicious!

You can add as much tororo kelp as you want, and if you're used to the firm texture of Kanto-style udon, you may feel a slight sense of incongruity with this udon itself. However, as you continue eating, you'll realize that this udon without much firmness actually goes well with this broth. The oden is delicious as well, and I wish there were more restaurants like this nearby.

I visited for the first time. As someone born in Shikoku, I was curious about the softness of Fukuoka udon, but this was also good. I topped it with burdock tempura and kashiwa meat, which matched well with the sweet broth. I wanted to try the kashiwa rice as well, but I was too full, so I'll save it for next time. I also wanted to challenge the kashiwa udon at Kokura Station platform.

During my summer vacation trip around Kyushu, I was curious so I decided to try this restaurant in Kitakyushu. It was a 24-hour store and I was debating between the West or Fish Town branch, but I chose the Fish Town branch based on its high Tabelog rating. I parked at a coin parking lot in the bustling downtown area and entered the restaurant past midnight. The interior was spacious and newly renovated, very clean. I ordered using a touch panel and got the "Warm Happiness Set" which came with a mini rice cake for only 880 yen. In about 5 minutes, a perfectly sized mini pork cutlet bowl and mini udon arrived. Despite being mini, the portions were satisfying. There was grated yam and kelp on the table which added to the satisfaction. The cutlet had a slight taste of blood at first but was delicious. The udon was not too soft and the broth was tasty. I noticed that the rice cake was missing, so I had to call the staff using the touch panel multiple times before it finally arrived. The two wait staff seemed busy, running back and forth between the register. The water pitcher was often empty. I was able to pay using PayPay, which was convenient. The coin parking cost 100 yen. It's worth noting that not all Sanuki Udon branches are open 24 hours. The menu was extensive and this was the most satisfying meal I had in Kyushu, so I hope they expand to Mie Prefecture as well.

When I heard about Shisann Udon in Kitakyushu, I decided to visit during my business trip. It seems like a chain restaurant similar to Marugame or Hanamaru. The restaurant had a mix of counter seats and was easy to enter. I ordered the most popular dish, the Niku Gobo Ten Udon, using the touch panel. It took a bit of time for the dish to come out, but I didn't mind as it seemed like they were simmering it to make it soft. The udon was soft, the Gobo Ten had a nice texture, and the sweet and savory meat was delicious. The broth was also tasty. If I were to add 5 pieces of Gobo at other chain restaurants, the price might become unreasonable, but at 760 yen, this was very affordable. I left feeling satisfied. It was delicious!

Visited on a holiday night. Last month, they were under renovation so I couldn't eat here. This time was my first visit after the renovation. They had installed tablets at the counter seats! I ordered the regular size meat udon for 650 yen. After placing my order on the tablet, I went to the restroom. When I came back, the staff had already brought my meat udon. So fast! As always, the slightly sweet broth with soft thick noodles is delicious. It's the soul food of Kitakyushu! However, the toilet was an INAX, not the TOTO brand.

It's been a while since I visited Kokura in Kitakyushu. Kokura is known for its competitive sushi restaurants, but today my companion suggested, "Why don't we go to Zensan Udon in Uomachi?" That's a good idea, I haven't been to the Uomachi area in a while, and I suddenly felt like having Zensan Udon. The restaurant has been renovated and has a bright and tidy atmosphere. The ordering system with tablets is interesting, and I wonder if the regular customers are used to it. I ordered the classic Gobo Tempura Udon with Shiitake topping, and it was undeniably delicious with the nostalgic chewy texture of Fukuoka Udon. I'm glad I came to the Uomachi branch, it has a nice vibe.

I visited the Sakana-cho store after a long time. It seems that the store has been renovated and it looks much cleaner. They have also introduced touch panels. Although everyone loves the Sanchan Udon, I used to find it difficult to order because the staff were too busy, and the overall messy and dirty atmosphere of the store was a bit of a drawback. With this renovation, they have overcome these weaknesses! The condiments and water are neatly placed on dedicated shelves. I ordered the Katsudon and mini udon set. The udon is always delicious. The Katsudon has a slightly crispy texture, but it is still delicious. Personally, I prefer the katsu to be a bit softer and the egg to be fluffy, but this type of Katsudon is also good. I enjoyed it very much. I have a feeling that I will be visiting more often in the future. I will definitely be back. Thank you for the meal!
