In Nishiyodogawa-ku, Osaka, there are several halal food restaurants near Chisen Station, across the bridge. I was curious about this restaurant and decided to go in. The sign said "Sitara Halal Restaurant" with Pakistani and Indian cuisine. When we entered, we were surprised by the unfamiliar atmosphere! Since only a 4-person table was available, we asked the staff if we could sit there, but they didn't understand Japanese. A customer sitting nearby reassured us and even translated for us. The menu seemed predetermined, and dishes were brought to our table without us ordering. The Friday Set for ¥1,000 included Chicken Biryani, Bean Curry, Mutton Korma, Salad, Tandoori Naan, and Chai. The Chicken Biryani was very spicy but flavorful, with tender chicken. The Bean Curry had a nice spice aroma, and the Mutton Korma was well-spiced and delicious. The Tandoori Naan was fluffy and crispy, complementing the curry well. Customers seemed to order their favorite dishes, enjoy them, and chat while drinking self-served Chai. It felt like being in an Islamic country, with a friendly and chatty atmosphere. The sweet and milky Chai was particularly delicious. Overall, it was a unique and enjoyable dining experience.

This time, it's a curry tour in Osaka. The place I visited was "Sitara Halal Restaurant". It's a Pakistani cuisine restaurant, just like the nearby Osaka Halal Restaurant. They have a buffet on weekends, but since it wasn't Friday when I visited, I assumed they only had their regular menu. The menu had various types of dishes, but it was quite limited with options like curry set with two types of curry, biryani, naan, daily curry with naan (all-you-can-eat), and biryani as a single item. I ordered the "Sitara Tari Set", which included mutton curry, bean curry, biryani, naan, and salad for 800 yen. The food was different from typical Indian or Nepalese restaurants, with a simple and unique taste. The mutton curry was light with a simple and rustic flavor, not too oily, and quite spicy. The bean curry was also light with a spicy kick. The biryani had a strong spice aroma with long-grain Indica rice, and the naan was thin and chewy. The service was straightforward, with limited menu options, and the atmosphere was simple and casual. Overall, the food was interesting and a good value for 800 yen. Comparing it to the nearby Osaka Halal Restaurant, the latter may be more stable, but Sitara Halal Restaurant has its own unique taste and charm.

There are various thoughts, but well, I'll just consider it a good experience (^^; Upon entering the restaurant, the menu for the day was verbally communicated. A laminated menu was also provided. It was a simple lunch menu. First, the customary salad with sesame dressing and roughly chopped cabbage was served. Then, I ordered the "Mutton Curry", which had a classic flavor and was not bad. I chose naan over rice. As I was eating, a complimentary "Minced Meat and Green Peas Curry" was brought to me. It had a gentle spice level and was also good. I also ordered the "Mutton Biryani", which was transferred from a pack to a plate and microwaved. It was tasty, although a bit oily and difficult to eat towards the bottom. Despite some other aspects making me wonder, the flavors were not bad overall. It's not worth traveling a long way for, but it's just a regular curry or Pakistani cuisine restaurant.

I went to what I thought was a halal restaurant in Osaka, but it turns out I was completely mistaken. I decided to record my experience anyway. I went for lunch. When I entered, a few customers were chatting and sitting down, but they seemed more like friends. When I asked if I could sit down, they gestured for me to sit wherever I liked. Since I don't speak much Japanese, it was a bit challenging. There were containers of chicken curry, mutton curry, biryani, and salad. Since I didn't make a reservation, they hurried to prepare the food for me. When I asked what it was, they joked about bringing out naan bread, which was amusing. I started eating. - Chicken curry: It was more like stir-fried chicken than curry. It was tender, with a thick sauce similar to pork belly stew. It wasn't very spicy. - Mutton curry: It had a thicker consistency than the chicken curry, almost like meat porridge. The mutton flavor was stronger. I personally liked it. - Biryani: It had big chunks of chicken and a slightly spicy taste that gradually increased in heat. The tomato-like acidity added a nice touch. - Naan: It was fluffy and slightly oily, but not too heavy. It was easy to eat. It was all you can eat, but after one serving of curry and biryani, I was full so I stopped there.

There is a famous halal restaurant nearby, but this time I visited a different restaurant. It was empty. I could sit anywhere I wanted. Let's compare with biryani. That's the most straightforward. I chose mango lassi for my drink (+100 yen). The salad was ordinary. The portion was quite big, but is this all? Hmm, this place can't beat that other restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

I tried Halal cuisine for the first time. It wasn't amazing, but it was interesting. Muslims don't eat pork or drink alcohol, but chicken is okay. The staff were friendly, which was nice.

In Osaka's Nishiyodogawa Ward, there is a Shitara Halal restaurant with the largest mosque in Osaka. The restaurant has a few 4-seater tables and mainly serves curry dishes. The menu is displayed on a blackboard, but the actual menu is in pouches and seems to be more accurate. The Thali set, which includes two types of curry with a drink for 1000 yen, can be ordered with hot chai. Despite the menu stating that curry and naan are all-you-can-eat, when asked for a refill, it was mentioned that it would cost extra. The Thali set includes mild chicken curry, very spicy okra vegetable curry, tandoori chicken, salad, and naan. The chicken curry is flavorful and mild, while the okra vegetable curry is extremely spicy but still tasty. The tandoori chicken has a classic spicy flavor, and the naan is soft inside and crispy outside. The hot chai is sweet and has a typical chai taste. There were discrepancies between the blackboard menu and the actual menu, as well as the all-you-can-eat option not being available as stated, highlighting the differences from typical Japanese restaurants.

After taking a short break from OHR, we headed to this restaurant near the mosque. As soon as we sat down, we were served what seemed like a starter, pakoras, and the server asked, "All you can eat?" I wondered if it was a buffet everywhere on Fridays, but when I asked if there was a menu, they mentioned they had biryani and haleem. So, I ordered the haleem, but they also asked if I wanted biryani. Perhaps both biryani and haleem were part of the all-you-can-eat option. The haleem had a strong bean ratio but was delicious with a good consistency. It was nice to be able to add green chili and lemon according to preference. The roti was thin and crispy, similar to paratha with an oily texture. The customers were all compatriots, and everyone seemed to be having haleem. It made me wonder if haleem on Fridays was a regular thing here, maybe even served without ordering. By the way, no one was using the buffet. It was just before 1 pm, so perhaps it was being prepared for after prayers.

When I went to a Halal restaurant in Osaka before, I noticed that there was another similar restaurant nearby. So, I decided to go to Chisen that day. It's not as flashy as the ones along the Hankyu line, but it's quite convenient as it's fairly close to Umeda. I ordered the Special Biryani for 1000 yen, which was the most popular item on the menu. The Chicken Biryani that I received was spicy and delicious. However, I felt like I might get tired of the flavor after a while. The Biryani came with a sour sauce that added an interesting twist to the taste. It was even better when I poured it over the dish. After the meal, I had a Mango Lassi, which was a refreshing drink with a good amount of flavor. While I was playing with my phone, one of the staff members approached me and asked if I was on Facebook. Unfortunately, I only use Eatigo, so we couldn't connect. It was a bit disappointing, but it seemed like we could have been friends if I had been on Facebook. Overall, I had a great time enjoying Halal cuisine. Thank you for the meal!

Halal Shop Osaka Sitara Halal Restaurant Light and Delicious Biryani! Astonishing Harmony with Yogurt 2016/7/9 2016/7/11 Other, Halal Shop, Osaka Recently, I came across the "Ultimate Curry 2017" which features a section on Biryani. The Ultimate Curry (Kansai Edition 2017) Price: 853 yen (tax included, free shipping) Biryani... a dish of rice cooked with spices that is commonly eaten in Pakistan and other countries. Depending on the restaurant, it may be labeled as "fried rice" or in Japanese restaurants, it might just be fried rice. It is made with Basmati rice (long-grain rice) and spices cooked together. I had some business near Osaka Mosque so I decided to visit a Halal restaurant. Since it was during Ramadan (the fasting month), the Osaka Halal Restaurant seemed closed. I found SITARA Halal Restaurant nearby and decided to give it a try. The restaurant sign was bright and colorful, making it easy to spot. When I entered, I saw Halal ingredients displayed, tables on the side, and the kitchen at the back. Everything looked delicious, but I opted for the light and easy-to-take-home Biryani. The staff, who was studying Japanese, pointed to a bag of Basmati rice and a spice mix, indicating that they were used in the dish. A salad was served with regular sesame dressing. They also asked about drink preferences, offering hot or iced tea, lassi, and another option. I chose iced tea. While waiting, I browsed the shelves and found a garlic bottle similar to the one at Kin no Nafristan in Kobe, with Japanese-style hiragana labeling. It turned out to be a Halal-certified product. The food arrived, and the total bill was only 1000 yen, which surprised me. The iced tea had a strong spice flavor, and the Biryani was well-cooked and not sticky like fried rice. The staff suggested trying it with yogurt, and when I did, the combination of the rice's sweetness, spice's heat, and yogurt's bitterness and acidity was amazing! The flavor balance completely changed. It was delicious, and I couldn't believe it was only 1000 yen. A great meal!

There are two halal restaurants in the vicinity of Osaka Mosque, Osaka Halal Restaurant and Sitar Halal Restaurant. I visited Sitar Halal Restaurant this time as I had previously visited the former. They offer three lunch menu options: 1 Coin Set (500 yen), Tali Set (600 yen), and Biryani (700 yen), all reasonably priced. Despite the unfamiliar atmosphere of everyone, including women wearing hijabs, being Muslim, I felt comfortable and at ease during my visit. According to the Pakistani owner, Fridays are crowded with Muslims for prayers, and they offer a buffet on that day, preparing a large amount of Biryani. The restaurant also sells halal food products. While it has become common to see Muslims wearing hijabs as tourists in Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi, there are still relatively few restaurants offering halal food. On this day, I ordered the Biryani, which was served with salad. The salad had a yogurt-flavored dressing, and the Biryani was made with high-quality Basmati rice, which they also sell in the restaurant. The portion was quite large, with bone-in chicken pieces mixed in. The secret to its deliciousness lies in the uneven coloring of the Basmati rice cooked with whole spices. With the help of the aromatic spices, I managed to finish the meal.

Lunch at Halal restaurant "Sitara" in Nishi-Yodogawa Ward Date posted: 02/06/2016 Cuisine: Asian, Curry, One-coin lunch Location: Tsukamoto, Minoheshima Halal food, Pakistani cuisine, Bean curry For lunch on this day, I went to a restaurant in Oowada, Nishi-Yodogawa Ward. It's called "Sitara," a Halal restaurant. The name is written in English as HALAL RESTAURANT SITARA. HALAL refers to things that are permissible under Islamic law, so I believe this restaurant caters to Islamic customers. The visible flag is from Pakistan, so it's a Halal Pakistani cuisine restaurant. The lunch menu mainly consists of curry dishes, including one-coin lunches. They also sell Halal ingredients inside the restaurant, which might attract Muslim customers. There are eight two-person tables, accommodating a total of 16 people. There are also seats on the second floor. On this day, the customers were all women, which was a bit lucky, I suppose. The lunch menu is available from 11:00 to 15:00, with bean curry rice being the main dish. Although it's listed as curry rice, you can choose between rice and naan, so I decided to order the bean curry with naan. It took about 5 minutes for the one-coin 500 yen bean curry to arrive! The naan was round and looked like a UFO. A side salad was also included. I started by finishing the salad with the disposable chopsticks provided. The bean curry also contained potatoes, and it was topped with ginger. Despite not looking very spicy, it had a strong spice flavor. I ate it with the naan and felt satisfied. While they offer hearty meat dishes for dinner, they do not sell alcohol on the premises, probably due to being Halal. However, you can bring your own alcohol, making it a budget-friendly option for dinner.

This is a Halal restaurant where people who come to worship at Islamic temples can eat with peace of mind. I heard that you can eat Biryani here, so I visited right away. - Pakora: If I were to compare it to Japanese cuisine, it's like vegetable tempura. It is crispy and well-seasoned, so it is definitely delicious. The price is reasonable and the portion size is sufficient. Highly recommended. - Tandoori Chicken: I decided to order another dish, and this one is also reasonably priced at 400 yen. It looks good with a slightly charred exterior, but the center was a bit cold, which was a little disappointing. However, the taste is decent like other Indian restaurants. - Biryani: While enjoying the Tandoori Chicken, the Biryani also arrived. It is a moist Chicken Biryani with well-infused spices. The rice used in it is something that stands out. It seems like they have a special focus on it, just like the nearby Pakistani restaurant. Overall, I hope to see more restaurants with such dedication in the future.

I arrived at the restaurant just before opening time (11am) and the staff seemed busy but told me it was okay to sit down. Even though it wasn't Friday, I was craving Biryani. I heard that Muslims often eat Biryani on Fridays, so many Pakistani restaurants have it as a special menu item on that day. However, I was excited to try it. I was served with salad, lassi, and freshly fried vegetable pakoras. Just then, the restaurant received a call informing them that a large group was arriving early and they asked me to move to another table. My Biryani arrived and to my surprise, it was delicious! The chicken was tender, the basmati rice was perfectly cooked, and the spices were just right. The vegetable pakoras were crispy and tasty. Later, a group of tourists from Malaysia arrived, and I realized that the Biryani I had was meant for Muslim customers. It had a different spice level compared to what is usually served to Japanese customers. I felt lucky to have stumbled upon such a flavorful dish. I wish I could have this kind of Biryani anytime.

There is another halal restaurant located less than 5 minutes from Hankyu Chifune Station, so please make sure not to get confused. This Islamic restaurant does not serve alcohol, but you are allowed to bring your own. If you wish to drink, you can purchase alcohol from the convenience store across the street. If you search for halal food online, you will find information about the regulations regarding the feed, slaughter, and transportation of livestock. Next to this restaurant, there is also a halal food specialty store. On Sundays around 2 pm, there was a local person in the restaurant trying to explain the menu in broken Japanese. The menu includes dishes such as coin lunch for 500 yen, various curry rice options, and special biryani with a drink for 1000 yen. The restaurant also offers buffet service on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The reviewer ordered chicken biryani, which was flavorful but lacked the expected spice and aroma. The basmati rice was described as slightly mushy, and the chicken pieces were either boneless with a good texture or bone-in with a tender consistency. After finishing the meal, the reviewer had to remind the staff about the included drink. Overall, the experience at this halal restaurant was slightly disappointing, but the reviewer is looking forward to trying the other halal restaurant in Osaka.

A Halal restaurant called Sitara, which follows Islamic dietary laws, recently opened near the Osaka Central Mosque. The restaurant is owned by a group of Muslim investors, possibly from Pakistan. The chef is from Karachi, Pakistan. The restaurant offers buffet-style lunches for 1,000 yen on weekends and set meals for 500-850 yen on weekdays. The food is described as home-cooked style, with dishes like chicken curry, vegetable pakora, and naan bread. The reviewer found the food to be average and not very spicy. The prices are reasonable, but the reviewer suggests that the restaurant may need to improve to attract more Japanese customers.

Next to the mosque, there is a delicious curry restaurant as someone once said, and it is true! Although the names are similar, the Osaka Halal Restaurant next to the mosque is actually located on the opposite side of the residential area, across the shopping street. This restaurant is also highly recommended by me. If you are from a distance, it would be worth climbing up here for lunch or dinner. The owner is from Pakistan, and it seems that their hometowns are different, so the dishes do not overlap. Additionally, this restaurant allows you to bring your own alcohol, which is a rare find overseas and a great joy for those who cannot resist good food and wine. Now, onto the main topic of the restaurant review. I ordered the Tali set for 900 yen for lunch on Monday. It came with Seekh Kebab, salad, rice, a soft drink, and refillable curry with two types of curry and naan. I didn't specify the level of spiciness, but the curries were mildly spicy. The chicken curry had a delicious tanginess from the tomatoes, and the chicken itself was flavorful with a slightly chewy texture. The chickpea and vegetable curry was also full of ingredients, and the flavor of the beans was excellent. The kebab was perfectly cooked. I was satisfied with the hot chai, and of course, the portion size was generous. After returning home, I found that there is another Pakistani restaurant called Sitarah and another Osaka Halal restaurant when searching on Tabelog. It's nice to see that there are three options to choose from. I will investigate the other restaurants soon!
