A must-visit tempura restaurant. If you don't know about it, you're missing out. The menu is simple, with an omakase option for a tempura course that includes a variety of skewers for 2200 yen. You can enjoy different types of tempura each time. They serve the freshly fried tempura right in front of you. Hot tempura and cold beer - the best combination! They also have a wide selection of sake. It's hard to describe how great this place is in words. You should definitely visit at least once!

I wanted to eat kushikatsu and onigiri. I ordered 16 kushikatsu sticks, onigiri, miso soup, and salad for ¥2310. I couldn't help but notice that the customer in the back ordered the nametake donburi again...

When you feel like eating kushikatsu in Kokura, be sure to visit this famous restaurant! I always order individual items instead of the omakase course! The must-haves are shrimp, crab claws, and beef fillet! It's the most delicious in Kokura for sure!

Easy-to-enjoy tempura skewers that can be enjoyed even at home^ ^ What do you like, everyone? In some shops, they even make tempura skewers with grapes or strawberries. What kind of texture would that be, I wonderΣ(-᷅_-᷄๑) That's Sateoki. On this day, we casually went to "Tenkushi Kokura Main Store". This shop, at the age of 36, is classified as a long-established shop in Kokura^ ^ It's so hard to run a restaurant for over 10 years... I digress, but the shop is conveniently located within walking distance from the station☆ It is located at the back of the first floor of a building! The store has a mature atmosphere, with a chic interior design in black tones! There are counter seats in the front and sunken kotatsu seats in the back o(^-^)o On this day, around 8:30 PM, there were about 10 customers in 3 groups, and 2 customers came later, so it was quite lively★ The orders were as follows. ・Chef's choice course→In this course, dishes come out automatically one after another until you tell them to stop! It's interesting, isn't it? Like a sushi restaurant... not exactly, but literally "chef's choice" hereヽ(・∀・) The fried skewers are placed at a good pace, and depending on where they are placed, you can tell which condiment to use, which is also interesting★ (Salt on the right, sauce in the middle, etc.) So, the contents of this day were... 1. Burdock 2. Potato 3. Beef ball and cheese 4. Bacon and green onion 5. Corn 6. Pork and leek roll 7. Saury and perilla 8. Chicken wings 9. Camembert cheese with ham & cucumber 10. Inari 11. Taro 12. Chicken skewer 13. Daikon radish 14. Fish cake 15. Quail 16. Saury with tartar sauce The composition♫ As a skewer tempura specialty store, there are skewers that use the ingredients as they are, as well as unique items like inari, and skewers that utilize perilla, salt, and other condiments, giving them an extra touch, making each skewer unique(o^^o) The best of the day was, first of all, the taro! It's delicious just as it is. And the saury! It goes well with perilla, and goes well with alcohol♬ Finally, the corn! It's fried with the core still attached, but it's delicious even without any sauce, making it a great choice◎ So, we stopped ordering for the day with this! Overall, the content was satisfying (≧∇≦) If I were to be picky, I would say that the oil could be a bit more... but it's a popular restaurant, so that's part of its charm! The price range is reasonable, and there is a benefit that the price per skewer becomes cheaper when you eat more than 15 skewers, so it's a good deal for big eaters o(^-^)o When I used it before, I remembered a friend who ate about 25 skewers(°▽°) By the way, I don't know now, but there used to be tempura ice cream skewers!?! Thank you for the meal^ ^

It's not just your typical tempura skewers! In bustling areas like Kokura, you can find a variety of interesting restaurants. This time, I discovered a unique place while looking for tempura skewers, so it was my first visit. The interior has a counter and a small tatami seating area for about four people. The menu offers a course for 2,000 yen or individual orders. The course includes 16 tempura skewers, salad, small dishes, rice balls, and miso soup, all served omakase style. I opted for the course this time. The sauces provided were salt, sauce, and ponzu in separate containers. The skewers were all elaborately prepared, featuring items like minced cutlet, quail bacon, grated taro, and corn, each topped with tartar sauce or pickled ginger, adding a nice touch. After enjoying the skewers, I ordered a special tempura skewer for 350 yen. The asparagus was tender and the beef fillet melted in my mouth. Finally, I finished with rice balls and miso soup to cleanse my palate. I found a restaurant that I would love to visit again!

I had always wanted to visit this restaurant, but I always felt a bit intimidated to go in... On this day, I found myself standing in front of the store, trying to peek inside, but I accidentally stepped too close and the automatic door opened (lol). So I just went in. There were no other customers inside, so I sat at a random spot at the counter. When asked if I was okay with the chef's choice, I said yes. There wasn't much explanation about the ingredients for the tempura, but it was fun to guess while eating - like, is this potato with butter? or daikon? The batter was light and the bite-sized pieces went down smoothly ☺️ The omakase course included a total of 25 items and 4 draft beers for about ¥5,700. Overall, I felt like there were a lot of ingredients in the tempura that you don't usually see in Osaka. It's one of the few tempura places in Kokura, but I think the taste and drinks are above average.

This is a specialty deep-fried skewer restaurant near Monorail Heiwadoori Station. The "Tenkushi Course" (2000 yen) includes 16 skewers, salad, small dishes, rice balls, and miso soup. At first, I wondered if I could eat all 16 skewers, but they are bite-sized so I could eat as many as I wanted. I also wondered if eating small portions like this would make me full, haha. The skewers come with three different sauces - sauce, salt, and ponzu - and are served on a fan-shaped plate at the counter. Each skewer is placed on the plate corresponding to the sauce that best complements it. The skewers included items like potato with butter, thick tofu, daikon radish, and white fish, all with delicious flavors. After finishing the 16 skewers, I enjoyed the rice balls and miso soup. Then, the owner told me that a customer from another table had sent over ice cream skewers for dessert. It was a delightful surprise! The ice cream skewers were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, a perfect ending to the meal. Although the skewers were small, I felt satisfied after eating 16 of them. I might challenge myself to see how many I can eat next time, haha.

Actually, I love tempura and kushikatsu, I can't hide it. There is a restaurant in Kurume city that combines both "tempura" and "kushikatsu" in its name, and I have been curious about it for a while. The restaurant is located in a narrow alleyway and has a relaxed atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of kushikatsu options, with a set price for a certain number of skewers. I opted for the chef's choice set. The restaurant also offers a selection of shochu and sake, with a decent range of options. The kushikatsu was served one after another, without much explanation. The service seemed to prioritize regular customers over newcomers. Overall, the kushikatsu was average, with some hits and misses. The miso soup was tasty, but the toro salmon was disappointing. In the end, I realized why there were no reviews from local reviewers. The experience was not exceptional, but it was worth a try.

I always thought that when it comes to kushikatsu restaurants in Kokura Kita-ku, it's 【Amakushi】, but I was surprised that there are not many reviews! This time, I defeated my wife's "I want to eat Chinese food today" attack with a counterattack of "I want to eat fried food today!" It's been a while since we visited (laughs). The location is just around the corner from the JTB Building next to the Monorail Heiwadori Station, on the 1st floor of the Mitsuki Building. The interior of the shop, which has a long history, is not very spacious, with only counter seats and two tables in the back. There are only two course menu options: ・【Omakase Course (up to 14 skewers for 1960 yen) ・(15 skewers or more starting from 1650 yen)】 ・【Amakushi Course 2000 yen】 ・【Omakase Course (up to 14 skewers for 140 yen each) 1960 yen ・(from the 15th skewer onwards 110 yen each) 1650 yen】 We ordered the 【Omakase Course】, where skewers keep coming until you say stop (laughs) (they will let you know when you reach 15 skewers or when the first round is over). On this day, we had 【chikuwa and onion, menchi katsu, eggplant, chicken wings, tsukune, ham and green onion, inari sushi, crab stick, chicken tenderloin, quail bacon, pork and Chinese cabbage roll, taro, garlic chives, corn, scallop, tofu, white fish fry】, and the second round starts from the beginning. At the beginning, a condiment dish with three types of sauce (sauce, salt, ponzu) is served. Then, freshly fried skewers are placed on the fan-shaped dishes on the counter. You dip the skewer in the condiment that corresponds to the direction the skewer is facing. (sauce for left-facing skewers, salt for center-facing skewers, ponzu for right-facing skewers, and no condiment for skewers facing you) You can enjoy a variety of skewers from those that highlight the ingredients' flavors to unique ones like the pork and Chinese cabbage roll or inari sushi. For rice dishes, onigiri or ochazuke are good choices, but after fried food, the refreshing 【nameko mushroom rice bowl (420 yen)】 topped with egg yolk and chopped seaweed is recommended. They also offer special single skewers like 【beef fillet, pork fillet, asparagus, fatty salmon, scallop, shrimp, crab stick】 (each for 365 yen), as well as a unique dessert 【ice cream (315 yen)】. I ordered the 【ice cream (315 yen)】 just for fun (laughs). The outside is crispy and hot, and when you take a bite, the slightly melted cold ice cream inside melts out, creating a hot but cold and interesting dessert. This is a long-established kushikatsu specialty shop in Kokura, founded 27 years ago.

The restaurant has about 10 counter seats and two private tatami rooms. If you leave it to the chef, creative deep-fried skewers will come out one after another. You won't know what's fried until you try it, which makes it fun. There are various items like inari sushi, potato, daikon, etc. Since it's fried food, you will feel full after trying everything. Apart from the chef's selection, there are options like shrimp, asparagus, pork, and beef. If you want to try these, make sure to eat them early, as the chef's selection may leave you with no room in your stomach afterwards, especially for women.

I finally had the chance to visit a famous restaurant in Kokura that had been recommended by a local senior for a long time. Despite its popularity, I was surprised by the lack of reviews. The restaurant was busy, with both private rooms and counter seats filled. My husband and I ordered the "Tenkushi Course" which included 16 pieces of tempura skewers, salad, side dishes, rice balls, and miso soup. We used a coupon for discounted beer and I received a free ice cream skewer. The tempura skewers were a surprise as we couldn't tell what was inside until we bit into them. Each skewer was carefully prepared and delicious. The meal ended with a unique ice cream skewer that was surprisingly good. The menu offers various options including a stop-at-your-desired-tempura option, set courses, and luxurious skewers. It was a relaxing and enjoyable dining experience that helped us unwind after work. I will definitely visit this restaurant again!
