July 2021 - Evening November 2021 - Night June 2022 - Daytime July 2022 - Evening From July to November 2021, for two people: - Yamakake Udon: 400 yen - Moyashi Udon: 310 yen From June to July 2022, for two people: - Yamakake Udon: 440 yen - Moyashi Udon: 350 yen This was my fourth to seventh visit to this restaurant, which serves thick noodles called Chikugo Udon. It is my favorite in Kyushu so far, and I always make a point to go there. The prices are still very cheap, which is amazing. My wife was supposed to have chikuwa tempura, but she changed to moyashi (bean sprouts) at the last minute. Bean sprouts in udon? Oh well, it was on the menu. - Yamakake Udon (4.5 stars) - Moyashi Udon (average) The broth had a slightly less salty taste compared to last time, and after the first bite, I couldn't help but exclaim how delicious it was. It had a seafood aroma with a strong kombu (kelp) flavor, and for me, the saltiness was a bit strong. The generous amount of grated yamaimo (Japanese yam) was a highlight. When mixed with the grated yam, the mountain yam added a fragrant touch and enhanced the overall flavor. The broth started off light and gradually thickened as the grated yam dissolved, resulting in a smooth and glossy texture. The soft and plump noodles complemented the broth perfectly, creating a silky and lustrous finish. The moyashi I tried was well-prepared and surprisingly complemented the udon well. In Tokyo, Hakata Udon may be a topic of conversation, but in Fukuoka, it's all about Chikugo Udon from Kurume or Kitakyushu. This is my favorite udon in Kyushu so far, but I haven't tried enough udon outside of Kyushu to determine a top favorite yet.

I came back to Yoshiya again today. I had meat udon, while my friend had goboten udon, along with a kashiwa onigiri. We shared half meat and half gobou udon. It was delicious as always. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the udon again. It was so good.

It had been a while since I last went there in the early afternoon on a regular day. The parking lot was full, and the shops were crowded. The atmosphere was lively and the prices were reasonable. I had shrimp tempura udon, while my partner had burdock root tempura udon and a large chicken rice ball. It was delicious.

I always want to eat at Yoshimaru every day. If Fukuoka had a morning udon culture like Kagawa, that would be amazing. After retiring, I might go eat there every day. Today, the usual meat udon was a bit expensive, so I tried the shrimp tempura udon and my wife had the burdock tempura udon. The kombu tsukudani side dish that came with it was a perfect match. The soup here is kombu-based, right? The noodles today were a bit firm, not the usual chewy texture, but it was still good. I forgot to take a picture after taking a bite. Oh well, I'll come back again.

Two days ago, I tried the delicious burdock tempura udon with bamboo shoot tempura for the first time and I already miss that taste. So, I went back with a friend and we ordered a meat burdock tempura udon and a separate plate of burdock tempura, as well as a bamboo shoot tempura udon with a separate plate of bamboo shoot tempura. We also ordered tempura and rice balls to share. The food arrived in about 10 minutes and we enjoyed sharing the tempura and rice balls. It was all very delicious.

I was told by a friend that the udon at Yoshiya is delicious, so I decided to visit at 3pm to avoid the lunch crowd. There were about 10 customers sitting at the counter. I ordered the recommended Niku Gobo Tempura Udon and Takenoko Tempura on the side. The food arrived in 10 minutes and the soup was amazing, with a sweet and savory flavor. The udon noodles were thick, chewy, and slippery, which was irresistible. Not only the udon, but the tempura level of Takenoko and Gobo was also incredible! I have become a big fan of this restaurant. I am already looking forward to what I will try next time.

The taste is really stable and delicious~ Can't compare to anything else ^-^ The meat udon has become a bit expensive so I tried the shrimp tempura udon - so delicious (^^) If you eat udon in Kurume, you can't eat udon anywhere else, it's cheap and delicious, can't ask for more ===========

After visiting Suitengu Shrine, we decided to have lunch at this restaurant. We arrived at 11:50 and the road in front of the restaurant was congested due to the Golden Week holiday. Luckily, we managed to find a parking spot thanks to a car stopping for us. The parking lot was almost full. There were 2-3 groups waiting in front of the restaurant, but we decided to wait as we wanted to try the udon at "Yoshiya Udon". After a 10-minute wait, we were seated at the counter. We ordered the Tempura Bamboo Udon, Kitsune Udon (without green onions), and a plate of two Kashiwa Onigiri. The tempura bamboo was large, crispy, and had a nice seaweed flavor. The kitsune udon had a rich taste. The udon noodles were very chewy and there was a generous portion. It seemed like the noodles absorbed the broth as they didn't decrease much. The noodles were thick and chewy, just the way I like them. The kashiwa onigiri had a strong flavor and the rice was well-seasoned. Additionally, although it's not on the table, if you ask the staff, they will bring you yuzu pepper. The food was delicious and the portion size and value for money were great. The restaurant was constantly busy with customers coming in. It's clear that it's a popular spot! We had a delicious lunch. Thank you for the meal.

Fried Chikuwa Tempura Udon is the best! I had decided to head towards Kurume for work and enjoy the gourmet food there. A colleague recommended me to visit Yoshida Udon, so I decided to check it out. It was my first time at this restaurant, and I was unsure what to order. I had read online that the Chikuwa Tempura was popular, so I decided to go for the Chikuwa Tempura and Meat Udon. The Chikuwa Tempura was huge and freshly fried, making it crispy and delicious. The combination of the udon, meat, Chikuwa Tempura, and grilled chicken rice ball was amazing. I couldn't stop eating! It was a very satisfying meal. I heard that ordering the Chikuwa Tempura on a separate plate is a good idea, haha. When I visit Kurume again, I will definitely come back to this restaurant. Thank you for the delicious meal, I will be back!

I saw this place while on my way to work. The cars were parked quite a bit and the exterior had a traditional feel, so I decided to give it a try. As soon as I walked in, I saw a showcase with various rice dishes. There was no one to guide me, but I noticed regular customers just sitting down and placing their orders directly with the kitchen staff. I followed suit and ordered a meat and bamboo shoot tempura topping on udon noodles. The tempura was crispy and delicious, while the meat had a firm texture with a sweet and savory flavor. The broth was tasty and the noodles had a good chewy texture. The prices were affordable, so the turnover rate was quite high with customers coming in one after another. If I have the chance to come back, I might try the curry udon next time. I enjoyed my meal and left feeling satisfied.

I arrived at the restaurant around noon on a regular day and was seated at the counter since the tables were full. I ordered the Maruten Udon for 380 yen and the Kashiwa Onigiri for 160 yen. The onigiri was self-service from a shelf. In the kitchen, there was a large noodle-making machine next to the boiling pot, where the owner operated the machine to cut the noodles as they flowed out. The noodles seemed to be freshly made and boiled. After about 10 minutes, the Maruten Udon was served. The broth had a strong bonito flavor, and the noodles were slightly thick and soft with a good chewy texture typical of Chikugo Udon. The noodles soaked up the broth nicely, creating a satisfying slurping experience. The Maruten was thick and generous, offering great value for the price. It was a cheap and satisfying meal, and I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again. Thank you for the meal.

I had been curious about this udon restaurant recommended by a friend, and finally tried it. The udon was delicious, similar to Makino Udon. The thick noodles were soft, and the broth was full of flavor. It's affordable and the portions are generous. I can see why it's a popular spot. Personally, I felt the service was a bit cold.

Hmm, the taste is definitely stable and delicious. Prices have gone up due to the times, but it's still worth it. I love beef udon, but it's getting a bit too expensive, so this time I ordered my second favorite, shrimp tempura udon. I arrived around 3 o'clock, and although the noodles were a bit soft, the broth was delicious. The combination of the shrimp tempura and rice balls with kelp is the best. However, my third favorite, curry udon, I haven't had in a while so I'll save it for next time.

I visited Yosoya Udon located along Route 209 in Kurume City. It's been a while since I last came here. The prices have gone up a bit, but they are still reasonable. It's past 2 pm, but it's still quite crowded as usual. I managed to just get a seat. Normally, I like warm broth, but because it's hot, I decided to try the cold udon. The cold udon noodles are thick as usual, but they seem to be double fried, making them a bit soft and not suitable for cold udon. The broth is slightly spicy, and I don't think it's made with ginger. Ultimately, the warm udon is the best here because of the delicious broth. I'll skip the cold udon next time. Thank you for the meal.

It's been a while since I last visited Kichiya Daifu. I ordered the large serving of meat udon, while my friend ordered the burdock tempura udon. We split them in half, so we had a half-and-half meal. It was really delicious! The skewered chicken sushi was also good, but it seems like the prices have gone up a bit. Thank you for the meal!

This is a wonderful restaurant. I had lunch here today. The store in Chikuho is about to open soon, so we are very busy. Today, we are doing the asphalt paving ourselves. Three of us used shovels to unload about 6 tons of asphalt from the truck. It was exhausting, so we decided to bring a backhoe tomorrow to continue (lol).

The noodles are chewy. The combination of shrimp tempura and burdock udon is the best for me. It costs around 520 yen. I went around 1 o'clock in the afternoon, but the parking lot was full! It's a local place, so I used to pass by it often by car, but I never went because I thought it was popular.

Today, due to work, I visited Kurume City in Fukuoka Prefecture! It was lunchtime, so my colleague recommended a famous udon shop nearby! I arrived around 11:30 am, and the restaurant was quite busy! It had a medium-sized space with a counter and table seats. The exterior and interior had a nice atmosphere with a traditional feel. My colleague recommended the Chikuwa Tempura, so I decided to try it! - Niku Chikuwa Tempura Udon (620 yen) - Kashiwa Onigiri (140 yen) The udon was surprisingly affordable, with an average price in the 300 yen range?! The Niku Chikuwa Tempura for 620 yen made me feel quite luxurious... haha. After about a 10-minute wait, the udon arrived at my table! The Chikuwa Tempura was large and impressive, overflowing from the bowl. The udon had a slightly soft and chewy texture, with a gentle wheat flavor and sweetness. The broth was rich in umami and had a refreshing aftertaste, making it easy to drink. I finished it all without leaving a drop... haha. The sweetness of the simmered meat topping was a great addition! The Chikuwa Tempura had a crispy coating with a hint of seaweed aroma, complementing the slightly sweet Chikuwa perfectly. The Kashiwa Onigiri had a firm texture with plenty of ingredients like chicken, carrots, and burdock, packed with flavor. When eaten with the broth, it melted in my mouth and was delicious! Overall, the quality was high, and the udon was delicious! I will definitely come back if I'm in the area again!

It's about a 30-minute walk from JR Araki Station, and there is parking available. The Kake Udon is only 240 yen and very cheap! The thick and chewy noodles have a unique texture. The broth has a slight acidity, maybe from kombu. Both are quite delicious. I think it's a restaurant that deserves to be nationally famous.

Lost after a soccer match, on the way back from the restaurant "Yoshiya Udon". It's hard to not sound like making excuses for the loss. The result is everything. Let's comfort ourselves by eating some udon, so I decided to visit Yoshiya Udon that I had been curious about. When I arrived, there was no customer service, no response to my order, and the floors, tables, and menu were sticky. However!! I had already prepared for the customer service and hygiene issues. I had researched it. lol I wiped the table with alcohol that I had brought. Then, I placed my order. Today, I aimed for the "Bamboo Ring Tempura". Meat udon + Bamboo Ring Tempura for 570 yen. I also added seaweed for 70 yen. I've been into seaweed recently. Now, the broth was quite strong. The homemade noodles were very thick. Thicker than chopsticks! The Bamboo Ring Tempura had a crispy coating and a soft inside, freshly fried. Truly authentic Chikugo udon. I really liked it. Delicious. Generous portion. I think it's good value for money. When the dish was served, the male staff member was holding down the Bamboo Ring Tempura with his finger, which left an impression. Was it rude of me to wipe the table? Maybe he did it on purpose. lol I was prepared for it, so it doesn't bother me. lol Ah, it was delicious. Again, the result is everything.

"Meat and Bamboo Shoot Tempura Udon" and "Chicken Onigiri" - the ultimate luxury for lunch. Not just half a bamboo shoot tempura, but a whole one. Half of it crispy, the other half soaked in the broth. I love the smoothness of the noodles here... so good. The sweetness of the meat and the crispy bamboo shoot tempura are too delicious. It's good enough as a side dish, but putting it in the udon makes it even better. I've never ordered just half of the bamboo shoot tempura... I always end up getting a whole one. It was so delicious today too...
