When talking about Fukuoka udon, people often focus on the size of the tempura topping or the freshly fried round tempura, but the most important thing should be whether the udon itself is delicious or not, and whether the broth is tasty. To be honest, things like tempura toppings are not that important. The biggest advantage here is that you can choose the firmness of the udon. Fukuoka is often known for its soft udon, but if you pay attention to the orders around you, you'll notice that there are quite a few orders for firm udon as well. Firm udon shines even more when served cold. This udon is basically boiled in a pot and then cooled in cold water, creating a sharp texture in cold udon dishes. Firm udon is really firm, with a slightly chewy center. The standard firmness udon is about the same as Marugame Seimen's (about the size of a large serving). In my opinion, "medium firm" is the best boiling point for cold udon. This precise boiling point can be specified thanks to the six-section boiling pot system at Maki no Udon. The only weakness of Maki no Udon is the limited number of cold udon dishes (currently only zaru and tororo). On the other hand, the hot udon served in its boiled state has a very good softness. The soft udon of Maki no Udon, which is boiled smoothly from raw noodles, has a solid texture that sets it apart from steamed udon sold in bags at supermarkets. The process of becoming even softer in the broth is also enjoyable. The broth made from dried bonito and kelp is refreshing and really good. Even after finishing the udon, the broth in the pot and the green onions on the table can be mixed together to make a delicious soup. You can get a refill of the broth and add as many green onions as you like, what more could you ask for. In conclusion, Maki no Udon is the best when it comes to Fukuoka udon. I mentioned earlier that tempura toppings are not that important, but the vegetable tempura with small shrimp was quite good. Also, the kashiwameshi (chicken rice) was delicious.

After returning from going out, I intended to go to the neighboring tempura restaurant, but mistakenly parked in the parking lot of Makino Udon in front of it, so I ended up going to Makino Udon! I had the classic burdock tempura and meat udon. It was a reliable taste and I enjoyed it. After eating, I saw that there was still a line at the neighboring restaurant, so in the end, I was glad I chose udon.

Udon restaurant located about a 15-minute walk from Fukuoka Airport. Visited after seeing it featured by a certain YouTuber. Ordered the most popular Niku Gobo Tempura Udon. Opted for soft noodles. The sweet soup is delicious as the noodles soak it up. Packed with the flavor of meat and vegetables. The burdock gets soft as it soaks. It's a unique udon and quite fresh. And all this for only 650 yen, which is cheap. Just be careful as the soup gets absorbed quickly, so it expands.

I stopped by on my way to Takeo in Fukuoka - ordered the meat and burdock tempura udon with green onions and simmered sukiyaki beef and burdock tempura fritters. The tempura crumbs sprinkled on top with unlimited green onions added a nice touch! The hot pot for refilling soup was a must-have, and in the blink of an eye while taking photos, the soup transformed to zero. The soup was delicious! The noodles were fluffy and piping hot, so I savored them slowly to avoid burning my mouth. As time passed, the noodles absorbed the sweet and tasty sukiyaki broth, making them even more delicious. They seemed to never decrease! I poured all the soup from the pot, added extra green onions and shichimi pepper until the last drop. So happy!

Fukuoka "Maki no Udon" is a must-eat when you come to Fukuoka. The combination of burdock tempura with meat udon, shrimp tempura with meat udon, is very satisfying for a hungry stomach. The smooth udon noodles will fill you up, and the burdock is easy to eat with a crispy texture.

I visited on a regular night. I arrived at Fukuoka Airport on a flight before 9 pm and was planning to go home, but I was too hungry, so I decided to eat near the airport. It's been a few years since I last visited Maki Udon. You can basically add any toppings to your order, but the classic choice is the meat and burdock udon. Among the soft udon in Fukuoka, this one has a particularly chewy texture. When it is brought to you, there is already plenty of noodles, but they expand even more as they absorb the broth, so you eat while adding more soup. It's a never-ending udon. The burdock is sliced to a reasonable thickness, allowing you to enjoy its texture. The sweet and savory taste of the meat pairs well with it and is very delicious. While all udon in Fukuoka is soft and tasty, I recommend Maki Udon to those visiting Fukuoka for the first time.

After leaving the airport in a car around 8 PM, I stumbled upon Makino Udon while looking for a nearby dinner spot. I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Meat and Burdock Tempura Udon for ¥700 and the Chicken Rice for ¥190. Unlike the usual bus terminal branch, they didn't use food tickets here, which was a nice change. The udon was topped with green onions, and as always, the broth seemed to never run out. It's a comforting feeling, especially when you're really hungry.

Burdock tempura and pork udon at Yawa for 700 yen. Consistently delicious. The soft udon noodles pair well with the slightly sweet broth. The burdock tempura has a unique thick coating and is surprisingly tasty. I also ordered croquettes as an option, but they were unnecessary.

I usually always go to the Hakata Bus Terminal store, so it's been a while since I visited the airport store. It's still super busy!! I always have a hard time deciding on toppings, so this time I ordered the special with various toppings!! And of course, croquettes. I love the croquettes here!! Maybe it's just me, but they seem even better than at the Hakata Bus Terminal store?! Did they always taste this good?! I made sure to add extra soup with the kettle and enjoyed the Makino Udon ⭐ Thank you for the meal!

I visited Makino Udon near Fukuoka Airport. This time, I ordered kashiwa rice and goboten udon with regular noodles. You can add green onions, tempura crumbs, and dashi as much as you want. The special feature of Makino Udon is that you keep adding dashi from the kettle as you eat because the noodles are soft and quickly absorb the broth. It feels like the noodles never decrease no matter how much you eat. They are soft yet have a good texture, which I really love.

I went to Maki no Udon and had my concept of udon from Kansai completely shattered by its deliciousness. This is definitely something to savor and appreciate. The Oidashi Yakan was wonderful - at first I was unsure, but as I ate, I understood and was satisfied.

✨Gobo Tempura Udon (460 yen)✨Niku Udon (600 yen)I absolutely had to try "Maki no Udon" when I went on a trip to Fukuoka. I had heard that udon in Kyushu is on the softer side, so I didn't have high expectations as someone who prefers udon with a firm texture. But it turned out to be incredibly delicious and became the number one gourmet experience of my Fukuoka trip! The broth was just amazing. They brought a pot of broth to the table, and when I asked why, they said that their udon absorbs the broth well, so they recommend adding more as you eat. It was interesting to see the broth being absorbed as I ate. In the end, I enjoyed both the firm texture of Sanuki udon and the softer Kyushu udon. I will definitely visit this restaurant again when I go back to Fukuoka.

"Maki Udon Airport Branch" ☑︎ Niku-tama Udon (670 yen) ☑︎ Gobo Tempura Udon (460 yen) ☑︎ 3 pieces of Karaage (170 yen) 〜Fukuoka Trip✈️〜 I went on a trip to Fukuoka Prefecture. I thought Fukuoka was famous for ramen, but I learned that the locals actually eat a lot of udon. Knowing this, I had to try "Maki Udon" restaurant. I was surprised by how cheap the menu was, you can get Gobo Tempura Udon for 460 yen✌️ The udon noodles in Kyushu are extremely soft and fluffy. The noodles quickly soak up the broth, so it disappears in no time❗ When the broth runs out, they bring a kettle for you to refill it. This style of udon is very generous, with the noodles absorbing a lot of broth. My stomach was so full❗ I thought the kettle was for tea, but it was actually extra broth‼️ They have green onions on the table for you to add as much as you like✌️ I'm a fan of lots of green onions. The broth in the Niku Udon was sweet and just to my liking✌️ The soft and chewy udon noodles were so delicious❤️ I've been into firm noodles lately, but I also love the soft udon noodles in Kyushu❤️ I definitely want to go back to this restaurant when I visit Fukuoka again."

Hello there. Preventing dryness! The menu can be difficult if you're not used to it. Curry, chicken and rice, miso with grated yam, meat and rice bowl. Curry comes with rice. Oh, delicious! I enjoyed the miso soup. I also enjoyed the hot water. Enjoyed it. Change of taste. When it comes to this, it becomes like this. Feeling satisfied. There are various variations, aren't there? But it's incredibly popular! Thank you for the meal. Well then, goodbye.

Before returning home from Fukuoka Airport, my husband highly recommended stopping by this udon restaurant for lunch. It was crowded with table seating, tatami seating, and a counter, like a casual eatery. The mothers working there were all very energetic, their voices echoing throughout the restaurant. We ordered tempura udon, karaage udon, meat udon, and tempura to share, along with some rice. All the udon dishes had soft noodles. When the udon arrived, I was surprised to see that the noodles lacked the firm texture I was expecting, as they were in a sweet broth. The crispy tempura was delicious. The meat in the meat udon was also tasty. I had to eat quickly because the noodles were soaking up the broth fast. It felt like I wasn't making any progress in finishing my meal! I managed to finish everything, including the delicious mixed rice. Despite having a carb-heavy lunch, I didn't feel hungry again until late at night. It was a delicious and enjoyable experience. Thank you for the meal.

I had to return home suddenly and my daughter arrived late at night by plane. She was hungry, so we went to the airport branch of Maki Udon for some udon noodles. They were still open until 11 pm, so we were able to order even though it was past 10 pm. We ordered udon noodles with soft noodles, and when it arrived, we noticed that the soup was a bit less than usual. As we ate, the soup started to run out, so we asked for extra soup. The soft noodles were like porridge and easy on the stomach, which I have grown to like recently. I realized that the portion was quite large, even though I wasn't very hungry. My daughter loved the soft noodles and enjoyed the delicious udon noodles, feeling satisfied and full.

Located near the airport, it takes about 30 minutes to walk there. (Recommended to arrive by Nishitetsu bus) Last time, it was too far to walk and gave up after 20 minutes. This visit is a revenge after half a year. Sometimes I just crave for udon. Visited on April 30th during the Golden Week holiday, so there was a bit of a wait to get in. Ordered meat with tempura, meat with burdock tempura, and chicken rice. These are more of the classic combinations. The point here is that you can choose the firmness of the noodles. Soft, normal, or firm are the three options. The firmness affects how quickly the noodles absorb the soup. At Makino Udon, they provide a small pot of extra soup. You can add as much green onion as you like as a topping. The existence of the pot may surprise you if it's your first time here, but you'll understand the need for extra soup as you eat (laughs). The airport branch had consistently good taste. The chicken rice was delicious. Very satisfied.

Because it was Golden Week, I went back to my hometown to watch an Avispa Fukuoka game, but it was too cold and rainy. So, I decided to warm up with my usual order of Niku Gobou Ten Udon and Kashiwa Meshi. The sweet broth in this place is the best. Every time I come back home, I always feel like going to Makino Udon.

During a business trip in Fukuoka, I visited this restaurant for lunch. The place was constantly busy with customers. I ordered curry udon without realizing that it comes with half a portion of rice, so I also ordered chicken rice and ended up regretting it. The udon itself was quite filling, so please be aware of this if it's your first time dining here. (^_^;)

I hurriedly finished lunch and got back to work. I had inari sushi and kitsune udon. Oops, I made the same mistake before, but it's okay. Both are delicious! Thank you for the meal! (•ө•)♡

Before returning from Fukuoka Airport, I had lunch. I didn't have much time, so I didn't have high expectations for a quick meal, but the taste, price, and the energetic auntie serving us were all top-notch. I couldn't help but dig in before taking a photo, but the croquette udon and chicken rice were amazing.
