超大食漢
Today, I came to this restaurant within walking distance from Hakata Station in search of the blessings of the Genkai Sea, following yesterday. Personally, I am pleased that they are open all day and night. When I arrived around 4 p.m., the restaurant was empty, but I was seated at the counter without any questions. I struggled to choose from the menu, as there were so many dishes I wanted to try. I needed to set some criteria to make a decision, so I decided to go with a variety of dishes centered around "Kue" (a type of fish). Even after ordering, I was still excited, thinking of titles for this review like "Kue, Kue, Kue~" or "Kue, Kue, Eat~" with a strange high tension. The dishes were served, and the counter was in chaos with the stove. I hoped the staff would give up and say, "Please go to a table," but they managed to arrange everything on the counter. It was even more annoying to see the cook on break at the table next to me, spreading out a newspaper and occupying the table alone. I regained my composure and started eating. I started with a plate of pickled vegetables for some relief. Eggplant, carrots, yam, daikon, bitter melon - all for only 350 yen before tax, which was impressive. Next, I had Kue sashimi. It was irresistible! I was so glad I came to Hakata! However, the Kue scale-fried, which was almost like a delicacy, was too much for one person to eat. I enjoyed it until about two pieces, but then it started to make me feel sick. The grotesque color and shape further diminished my appetite. I forced myself to finish it. I refreshed with some simmered dish before finally having the Kue hot pot. It was heavenly. I was in a fighting stance even before eating, wearing just a T-shirt, but I still sweated profusely while finishing the meal. All that was left was the porridge. But before that, I took a short break to go to the restroom. Following the arrows inside the restaurant, I ended up at the back door of the building where the restaurant is located - the elevator hall on the 1st floor of the office building. I didn't realize the entrance was on the opposite side, and it was a building with many companies. I entered the place where many office workers were coming and going, in the middle of winter, wearing just a T-shirt, sweating, no mask, hands empty - a shocking sight. Everyone was surprised and looking at me. I was a hundred times more surprised inside, shouting in my mind while heading straight to the restroom. When I returned to my seat after a terrible experience, the staff seemed agitated. It seemed like they thought I was trying to dine and dash. The restroom's layout did make it seem like an easy escape route. Finally, I finished with the porridge. I used up all the soup from the pot, so one egg was not enough, making it a bit too watery and somewhat of a failure. I remember making a similar mistake in Sapporo not long ago, and I felt self-loathing for my lack of learning ability. The bill came to 6413 yen after also having a draft beer. For a Kue feast, I was very satisfied with this price.
