We made a stop at the Saitama Shintoshin North Exit area. Three of us, including my colleagues, visited. We had: - Napolitan - Warm potato salad - Bean and bacon ajillo We toasted with classic and Malheur beer! Napolitan was delicious as always. We had more drinks at Malheur. Tomorrow is a day off! Tonight, we're in the mood for Western liquor! We added an order of Wild Turkey whiskey! It's been a while since I had whiskey! We added rum, tequila, and more as we enjoyed potato salad and ajillo as snacks. We had a great time. Thank you for the meal.

The first floor had only counter seats, while the second floor had several table seats. This time, we had our meal on the second floor. Looking around, there were families, office workers, couples, and people of various ages. Everyone seemed to be enjoying drinks! The food was delicious, but it might be a bit slow during busy times.

It's a slightly unusual place, but the atmosphere is nice. Unfortunately, I only stopped by for about an hour, so I just ordered a draft beer to cool off. The beer at this place is really good, surprisingly. It had been a while since I was in Sapporo, but I was amazed at how much the taste of beer can change depending on how it's poured. By the way, the beer was only 500 yen, which was quite reasonable.

First visit☆ I finally went to the shop I've been curious about to have a parfait right when it opened. There were already about 4 groups in line. Everyone was ordering lunch. I had the peach and yogurt parfait for ¥1,200. It was neither good nor bad. They said it would take some time, and I got it 30 minutes later...

Originally a popular cafe, it was featured on TV and was fully booked. We went there after 2pm and it was still packed. They offer lunch menus, parfaits, coffee, and alcohol, making it easy to visit anytime. This time, we went for lunch. I tried the curry pasta today. It took a little while, maybe because they were busy. First, the salad arrived with Parmesan cheese. Then, the pasta came out! You could tell it was delicious just by looking at it. There was an egg on top, which was a nice touch. The pasta had a sweeter taste compared to curry rice. It was packed with chicken and had a satisfying taste. The portion was decent, and it was so delicious that I could have eaten two servings. The firmness of the noodles, the richness of the flavor, overall it was amazing! I wanted to try the parfait too, but ran out of time. This cafe is enjoyable no matter what time you go. Thank you for the meal.

It's been a while since I had curry here and I felt like eating it again. The curry has a tangy tomato flavor and is slightly spicy and hot. It's quite addictive. I ordered and waited for about 7 minutes for it to arrive. As soon as it arrived, I took a bite. The taste was just as I remembered - a punchy curry that is excellent. It goes perfectly with iced coffee. The macaroni salad that came with it was also delicious. I recommend this set for curry lovers. For dessert, I had a cream anmitsu with Japanese brown sugar syrup. It was the perfect end to the spicy curry, and the combination with green tea was also excellent.

I watched it on TV and decided to visit. I arrived about 10 minutes after the 11:30 opening time and there were 4-5 groups waiting in front of me. More people continued to line up behind me. I waited for about 30 minutes before entering. I ordered curry with cheese topping and iced coffee at a table on the second floor. Despite the crowd, the service was relatively fast. The curry was spicy with a hint of sourness, so I personally think adding cheese was a good choice. It might be a bit too spicy for those who are not used to it. The chicken was tender and delicious. The iced coffee was refreshing. The staff was friendly and provided good service. I would like to come back next time to try the parfait. I realized that my expectations were too high from watching it on TV. Overall, it was simply delicious.

I ordered curry pasta for 950 yen, a set drink for 100 yen, affogato for 850 yen, and Ribbon Napolin (forgot the price). It's been a while since I last visited, but I really like the atmosphere here. Maybe I'm starting to lean towards their curry dishes. Overall, it was a great dining experience. Thank you for the meal.

Sapporo Station Lunch - A healthy curry with plenty of onions and a hint of tomato, it was light and refreshing! I wish I had added cheese on top though!! It had lots of simmered chicken in it too! It also came with macaroni salad as a side which was a nice touch. All of this for 950 yen is a great deal! The restaurant, which was renovated from an old storehouse, had a lovely atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly and nice. Among the recently visited restaurants, this one stood out for its excellent service! It really makes you believe in the law of attraction! I also got to taste the delicious Napolitan which came with a side salad! And a parfait... The Strawberry Parfait (1200 yen) was amazing, with a perfect balance of whipped cream and ice cream. The middle layer was frozen strawberry and the bottom was pie, it was so delicious. Perfect for those who love whipped cream. Around 12:30 on a weekday, there were about 4-5 groups of customers already seated and 3 more came in later. There is also a second floor seating area, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere.

Farewell party's first round has ended, now onto the second round. No one left early, which is great. We're heading to ROGA, a place we've been curious about. We were guided to the second floor, lucky for us as there are no other customers at the moment. It feels like we have the place to ourselves. We ordered 3 bottles of red wine, 2 plates of Napolitan, Junky Basket, and 3 parfaits. We enjoyed the Argentinian red wine, it was a blast from the past! We shared the Napolitan for our final dish. We couldn't resist ordering the Junky Basket after already having fried food in the first round. We added a Chilean wine and another wine (can't remember the country) to our order. And for dessert, we had parfaits - a funny sight to see grown men having parfaits as their last course! Can't remember the types of parfaits, but they were delicious. Thank you for the feast!

Sapporo Station North Exit, Former Toyo Camera House Building with over 120 years of history, a stone warehouse with a Meiji modern-style old folk house cafe. Take a break after work, guided to the counter seats on the 2nd floor. A quiet and gentle space where you can feel warmth. Relaxing in your own time (´ω`). At night, it's a one-drink order system, but I'll definitely have a drink! Beer ( ゚Д゚)ノ. Choose from 8 types, "Maruef" with a light taste in a glass for 500 yen. It's great that there is no seating charge. The food is on the hearty side with a focus on various international dishes. There are also izakaya-style dishes like edamame and motsu stew. "Empanada" for 700 yen, a home-cooked dish from Argentina. It looks like a fried dumpling, but inside is spiced minced meat in a pie crust. It fills you up, and it's even more delicious with Tabasco for a spicy kick. Thank you for the meal! (^ω^)

I went for lunch on Saturday. The atmosphere was really nice! The curry was delicious and they had a variety of parfaits. However, it's a popular place so we were asked to leave after about 2 hours. I want to try their cafe next time!

As I casually passed by, I noticed that the window of the storehouse was open, giving a glimpse of the inside. Intrigued by the sight, I decided to step in for a quick drink. I ordered a Laphroaig soda from the selection of bottles on the shelf. The bartender, who has been working here for about 8 years, shared that the establishment has been around for 12 years and used to be the owner's family camera shop. I had initially planned to have just one drink, but the mojito looked too tempting to resist, so I ordered that as well. The bartender's skillful service made me feel right at home in the cozy atmosphere of the storehouse. It was a delightful experience. Thank you for the hospitality. - Laphroaig Soda - Mojito (tax included) 1,550 yen - Stayed for 30 minutes - PayPay is accepted - No cover charge - No credit card payment - They also offer a variety of meals and desserts (parfaits).

"I Want to Enjoy Cafes Even as an Old Man!" Shiojiro, who usually only eats ramen, suddenly awakened to cafe culture. I will report on cafes in Sapporo and the surrounding areas that catch my interest from an old man's perspective. The sixth installment is "ROGA" near Sapporo Station North Exit. ================================= Located about a 5-minute walk from Sapporo Station North Exit, "ROGA" utilizes a Sapporo tuff stone warehouse. The main building has a ramen shop called "Megumi Suisan," which I have reported on several times. Today, I visited the cafe side, not for ramen, but for the popular "cafe meal." ● Location North 7 West 5, Kita-ku, Sapporo From Sapporo Station North Exit, head left. It is along Kita 8-jo Street, just north of Yodobashi Camera. ● Parking Not available. For those coming by car, you will need to use a nearby coin parking lot. ● Business Hours 11:30 am - 11:00 pm (closes at 5:00 pm on holidays) ● Regular Holiday Sundays, 3rd Monday of the month ● About the Store "Cafe & Bar ROGA" opened in 2010. The Sapporo tuff stone warehouse where the store is located was built in the late Meiji period as a pawnshop warehouse. It was later used as a film storage room for a newspaper sales store and a camera store. The fourth-generation owner of this stone warehouse, Mr. Ota, wanted to preserve the history and the wishes of his ancestors, so he renovated the over 110-year-old stone warehouse and revived it as a cafe & bar. Popular menu items include curry and parfaits, and you can also enjoy alcohol. ● Cafe Genre Old folk house, stone warehouse, retro style ● Atmosphere The use of the old stone warehouse creates a nostalgic and calm atmosphere. During my visit, I sat by the window, and the gently shining sunlight was pleasant. You can relax so much that you forget you are in the city. ● Customer Base A wide range of age groups, from students to the elderly, can enjoy this place. It is close to Sapporo Station and Hokkaido University, making it a good stop for sightseeing or shopping. Since it is open until 11:00 pm, it is also suitable for those coming after work. ● Menu [Drinks] Coffee, black tea, lassi, non-alcoholic drinks, beer, wine, shochu, cocktails, etc. [Food & Desserts] Curry, pasta, parfaits, various light meals, etc. ● Order Curry Rice: 880 yen Iced Coffee: 150 yen (set price) ROGA's popular dry curry. A genuine curry made with onions and chicken stewed in a tomato-based roux, served with turmeric rice. ● Hospitality ★★★★☆ The name "ROGA" means "home" in Paraguayan. Just like the name suggests, it feels like a cozy home. The staff's hospitality is heartwarming. ● Hidden Gem Rating ★★★☆☆ I didn't know there was such a space near Sapporo Station. ● Old Man's Comfort Level ★★★★☆ You can relax without worrying about your surroundings. ● Overall Impression This popular folk house cafe using Sapporo tuff stone offers a relaxing atmosphere where you can spend a pleasant time. The curry was delicious too. Since it is open late, it might be nice to use it as a night cafe. Thank you for the meal! (Visited on August 10, 2022) (Posted on February 1, 2023)

It's still a bit early for dinner, but I came for a meal. It feels like it was still a bit chilly last time I was here, so it's been a while. Coming back after a while, I noticed that the counter had been renovated and made a bit longer. It looks very clean now, but I also liked the worn-in look of the previous counter. It will gradually blend into the atmosphere of the restaurant just like the old one did. Today, I ordered the large portion of Napolitan. It took a little over 10 minutes to be served. The Napolitan had a strong tomato acidity, which was quite unique. The pasta had a good chewiness to it and was delicious. The grated cheese provided helped balance out the acidity a bit. I ended by wiping the plate clean with French bread and finishing off the tomato sauce. Thank you for the meal.

I went during dinner time and it was one drink minimum, so the dessert set menu was not applicable, which was disappointing. It ended up being an expensive dessert set. Next time, I will make sure to go before 5 pm. There were many types of parfaits and they were delicious.

Before heading home on the train, I decided to stop by "Roga" to satisfy my craving for a parfait. I had bookmarked this place because I knew they offered parfaits even outside of Susukino area. The first floor was reserved, so I was directed to the second floor where there were only two other customers. The dimly lit interior made me feel a bit uneasy being alone, so having other customers around was reassuring. I ordered the "Cheese Cheese Cheese Parfait (¥1000)" from the parfait menu. It was the parfait I wanted to try the most, and I was lucky that it was a winter limited-time menu. I was amazed by the variety of menu items, almost like a parfait specialty shop! I tried to take a photo of the whole parfait, but when I uploaded it, part of the image got cut off. I wonder if it's a limitation of the app, and I hope they can improve it because the image quality also suffers. After a 10-minute wait, the parfait arrived. It was a cheese lover's dream with cheddar cheese on top of vanilla ice cream, baked cheesecake, cream cheese, mascarpone ice cream, maple syrup, and pie crust at the bottom. The vanilla ice cream had a subtle sweetness and a taste reminiscent of pure milk. The cheddar cheese had a strong tangy and rich flavor that paired perfectly with the mildly sweet ice cream. It was similar to salted vanilla ice cream, which I really enjoyed! The baked cheesecake was rich and creamy, melting in the mouth, and the cream cheese and milk-flavored mascarpone were equally delicious. By the time I reached the maple syrup, I started feeling a bit full as I had indulged in many sweets throughout the day. The pie crust at the bottom added a crunchy texture and complemented the parfait well, making it a satisfying and well-crafted dessert. Considering that many parfait specialty shops charge around ¥1500, the fact that Roga offers their parfaits for a flat rate of ¥1000 makes it a convenient and reasonably priced option for a satisfying dessert experience. The atmosphere of the place truly fits the description of a "hidden gem." I'm curious about their curry as well, so I'd like to visit for lunch next time. Maybe when the time restrictions are lifted, I can go on a food tour from morning till the last train... well, maybe not, I definitely pushed my limits this time! Thank you for the delicious meal.

I arrived for dinner a bit early again this time. When I arrived, there were no other customers on the first floor, but it seemed like there were a few on the second floor. This time, I ordered the curry pasta in a large serving. It was served to me in about 10 minutes after ordering. I have had it before, and the perfect level of spiciness and al dente pasta were delicious. It came with powdered cheese, which allowed me to change up the flavor a bit. I enjoyed it once again. The atmosphere is very nice, and it's one of my favorite restaurants. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

This time, I arrived for dinner a little earlier than usual. The first floor was almost full, so since I was dining alone, I was seated at the counter. I ordered the large portion of spaghetti Napolitan. It was served to me in about 10 minutes. The noodles were plentiful and coated well with a generous amount of tomato sauce. The acidity of the sauce was strong, with a hint of spiciness. However, it wasn't too spicy, so even those who are not fond of spicy food should be fine. Grated cheese was provided on the side, which added a milder flavor when sprinkled on top. Bread was also served, and dipping it into the tomato sauce was a nice touch. I opted for the large portion, so I left feeling very satisfied and full. Thank you for the delicious meal.

On a certain weekday, I visited the Kura Cafe in Hokkaido 7-jo Nishi 5-chome for the first time in a while. When I arrived, there were a decent number of customers even though it was already past lunchtime, which was a good sign. I was tempted to order a parfait, but hesitated when I saw that it would cost around 1300 yen with a drink, so I ended up ordering the "Napolitan (720 yen)" and "Iced Coffee (set +100 yen)" unexpectedly. One bite in... the noodles in the Napolitan were thin and cooked just right. The dish had a nostalgic feel to it, with a good balance of oil and tomato ketchup that didn't become overwhelming. I sprinkled some powdered cheese on top for a flavor boost. The dish included diced bacon, onions, bell peppers, sliced carrots, and tomato slices, which I enjoyed with the French bread that came with it. The salad had croutons and a cheese dressing. The iced coffee in the set was served in a relatively small glass and had a slightly bitter taste. I couldn't help but notice the mini parfait available for takeout, which seemed like a good deal. Next time, I'll definitely order the parfait! Thank you for the meal.
