I visited the Okinawa cuisine restaurant "Miyabuta and Okicharcoal" in Sakai Higashi. It is easily accessible from Sakai Higashi Station East Exit on the Nankai Electric Railway. The restaurant prides itself on using rare Miyabuta pork from Ishigaki Island in their signature dishes.
- Rare Miyabuta grilled over charcoal: The richness of Miyabuta's fat can be savored in this dish. The accompanying kimchi is also delicious.
- Miyabuta shabu-shabu: You can directly experience the rich and delicious taste of Miyabuta's fatty meat. Finish off with Okinawa soba and cartilage soki stew for a luxurious meal. Add Miyabuta dumplings to the shabu-shabu.
- Sea grape salad: A specialty dish with plenty of sea grapes on top of island tofu. It's a dish that allows you to fully experience Okinawa.
- Mozuku tasting: Compare natural mozuku and cultivated mozuku. The natural type has a slippery texture and stickiness, while the cultivated type has a good chew. Both are delicious, but the natural one is preferred.
- Mozuku tempura: Absolutely delicious! Crispy on the outside with a crunchy texture. The inside is fluffy and incredibly delicious. The thin coating prevents indigestion, so you can eat as many as you want.
- Purple sweet potato croquette: Delicious with a sweet and fluffy taste. The vibrant purple color is visually appealing.
Each dish is delicious and attractive enough to be worth taking the train to get there. Miyabuta is not something you can easily find, making it a recommendation for pork lovers. The staff are friendly, creating a warm atmosphere. You can enjoy a relaxing meal in this cozy hideaway.

The second business trip in Osaka was to a gyoza specialty restaurant called Tsumugiha, following the seminar's networking event. We enjoyed authentic Okinawan vibes and drinks at Miyabuta and Okitansan, located conveniently close to the station. We indulged in Orion beer, awamori, and Miyabuta shabu-shabu. We started with a toast with Orion beer! The appetizer was a comparison between fresh mozuku and frozen mozuku. The difference in color and smooth texture of the fresh mozuku was evident, and it tasted delicious. The sea grapes salad had a delightful crunchy texture that was addictive. The homemade dressing was refreshing and tasty. The purple sweet potato croquette was sweet and incredibly delicious. When you eat the grilled Miyabuta and kimchi separately, the aroma of the charcoal grill gently wafts, enhancing the appetite with the spicy and tangy kimchi, a superb dish. Orion beer goes down smoothly with it. Next up was the main dish of the day, Miyabuta shabu-shabu. It was easy to eat guilt-free with plenty of cabbage. The sweetness of the fat in this Miyabuta spreads throughout the mouth, becoming addictive. We switched to awamori next. First, we had the classic Zanpa watered down. Then we tried the rare awamori called Gyoku no Tsuyu, which had a deep flavor and rich taste. We finished with Okinawa soba in a pot, which had a flavorful broth and made for a satisfying end to the meal. Thank you for the feast. We will definitely come back!

On a regular night, my daughter and I decided to go out for dinner instead of cooking at home because it seemed like a hassle. This time, I chose a Okinawan restaurant called "Okinawa Charcoal" located near Sakaihigashi Station. The restaurant is a single-house building with 4 counter seats facing the kitchen on the 1st floor, 4 four-person tables, and 1 two-person table. We were seated at a four-person table even though it was just the two of us. There is also a tatami room on the 2nd floor, but we did not go up, so details are unknown.
We started with some draft beer, which was refreshing after a long day of work. Then we ordered and tried some dishes:
- "Miyabuta Aburiyaki" - a signature dish made with Ishigaki Island pork. The thickly sliced pork was juicy and not too fatty, with a sweet taste. It was served on a hot iron plate and paired well with the kimchi.
- "Okinawa Soba" - a comforting noodle soup with a gentle bonito broth, straight noodles, and tender pork slices. Topped with homemade koregusu for some spice.
- "Tofuyo" - a fermented tofu dish that went well with the strong alcohol content of the awamori.
- "Mozuku Tempura" - crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, a delightful tempura dish.
- "Somen Chanpuru" - a stir-fried dish with somen noodles, tuna, bean sprouts, and chives. The flavor was a bit bland, but adding yuzu kosho made it much more delicious.
Overall, the standout dish for me was the "Miyabuta Aburiyaki", which was flavorful and a must-try. The owner of the restaurant was kind and helpful, especially when it came to choosing awamori. The total bill for the dishes and drinks for two people came to 7650 yen, which was reasonable for the quality of food and service. I would recommend Okinawa Charcoal for those looking to enjoy Okinawan cuisine in Sakaihigashi.

Just a few dozen meters from the least used southeast exit of Sakai Higashi Station, there is a new Okinawan restaurant called Okicharcoal that caught my attention. Despite its small appearance from the outside, the interior was surprisingly spacious, with multiple table and counter seats, and even private rooms on the second floor for course meals. I started with a craft beer from Nago called 75 Beer, and enjoyed some appetizers like Jimami tofu and island pickles. The fried taco balls with kimchi, Aguu pork dumplings, and carrot stir-fry were all delicious and generously portioned. The fried chicken wings with awamori were also flavorful. I tried both Okinawan soba and seaweed soba, both of which were subtly seasoned but tasty. The overall dining experience was enjoyable and the prices were reasonable, averaging around 3000 yen per person. I still haven't tried their specialty Miyabuta, so I'll have to come back for that next time. It was a pleasant surprise to find a place serving authentic Okinawan cuisine near Sakai Higashi Station.

I am "Noronori" who mainly walks around eating lunch, mainly in Sakai. I really want to eat Soki soba!! I also ordered Goya Champuru. I heard that Goya Champuru is actually not available for lunch. So, I asked them to make a takeout Goya Champuru bento for dining in, without the rice. It seems they cannot serve just Goya Champuru as a single item. The Soki soba was really delicious. It had well-cooked Soki (pork spare ribs) that were tender enough to be cut with chopsticks. The noodles are from "Kamehama Seimen" in Okinawa. They were not too firm and very tasty! The soup was also very delicious! I thought they might have adjusted it to suit the taste of people in Osaka, but it turns out this is the original traditional soup. One day, when I went out to Gashi for some errands, I decided to try the Okinawan cuisine restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. I had seen their Instagram and felt like I had to visit at least once. So, I went to Miyabuta and Okicharcoal for lunch. It seems that they have irregular closures for lunch, and I finally managed to visit after encountering one such closure. The location is near Sakaihigashi rotary, just across the railroad crossing towards Mikunigaoka High School, next to the Isone Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic. The restaurant has a chic and cozy atmosphere, with the kitchen at the back. They offer Miyabuta, a brand of pork from Ishigaki Island, which is the only place outside Okinawa Prefecture that serves it. I would definitely recommend visiting for dinner as well. The seasoning options are also appealing. I ordered the Soki Soba W for 850 yen including tax. The lunchtime prices include tax. The dish came with two generous pieces of Soki pork. The Shisa-shaped kamaboko is adorable. The noodles are firm and seem authentic, imported from Okinawa. The soup has a strong bonito flavor, which is satisfying. The Soki pork is lightly seasoned, but the flavor is just right, allowing the deliciousness of the pork to shine through. It's the perfect level of seasoning, not too strong like some soy sauce-based dishes. The taste is easy to enjoy and suits my preference. This might be the most delicious Soki pork I've ever had. They also provide island hot peppers, but the dish is already delicious without it. I'm interested in their evening menu, so I definitely want to visit again at night. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Due to heavy rain, some items on the menu were unavailable, but the food was delicious. I was surprised that the beer came in a can.

I wish they had informed me upon entering that the menu would be limited due to the state of emergency. I couldn't order most of what I wanted to eat. The Okinawan-style fried noodles were a taste I had never experienced in Okinawa before. I ended up with simmered pork, purple sweet potato croquettes, and Asahi beer. It was a sad memory, thinking I should have just gone to a regular izakaya instead.

You can enjoy Ishigaki Island's brand pork, which is hard to come by. The grilled Miyabuta pork on charcoal was delicious, with a great taste of fat. The tofu, seaweed salad, and other dishes were all delicious! Personally, I'm not a fan of awamori, but I recommend it for those who enjoy it.

In the midst of many fake Okinawan cuisine restaurants, this place offers authentic Okinawan dishes with a rich taste of carefully prepared broth. The highlight is definitely the Orion draft beer priced at only 480 yen. I don't know any other place in Osaka where you can enjoy Orion draft beer at such a low price. They also have a great selection of awamori, including the delicious Miyabuta imported from Ishigaki. In addition to Okinawan cuisine, their Miyabuta dishes, especially the seared Miyabuta, are exceptional.

The Ishigaki Island brand pork shabu-shabu hot pot, offered for the first time outside Okinawa Prefecture, is amazing! Definitely a must-try dish with high chances of becoming a repeat customer.

The grilled Miyabuta was delicious. I also ordered the sea grape salad because the staff recommended it as a specialty, but I was overwhelmed by the portion size (lol). I forgot to take a picture because I was so overwhelmed.
