I went to Amoya Nankyoku Shunkasu, a Japanese confectionery shop in Tennoji, Four Tennoji Temple branch. The exterior looks a bit stylish now, which is different from before. I liked the old look too. I bought a bean daifuku and a sakura mochi. Both cost a little over 300 yen, which is a reasonable price. The bean daifuku was chewy, with a good balance of beans, mochi, and sweet bean paste. I really liked the taste. The sakura mochi had a standard flavor, with a nice aroma. Personally, I prefer the bean daifuku.

In the hot weather, I bought a dorayaki for 200 yen at Wakayu. The dorayaki skin is slightly thick and moist, but the texture is not very rich. The red bean paste is coarse and has whole beans, which may not be to everyone's liking. Overall, it's decently delicious.

Amoya-san! I had been curious about this shop for a while. They have a wide variety of individually sold Japanese sweets, and the selection is impressive. The Fubomochi I bought was chewy and the sweet bean paste was just right, very delicious! The other Japanese sweets were also well received by my family. Personally, I thought the Kame no Shitennoji Senbei was the most delicious. Inside, there is matcha bean paste and mochi. The mochi was soft, and the sweetness and firmness of the bean paste were to my liking! Plus, the turtle design is cute and the cost performance is good! It seems like a great souvenir as well. I forgot to buy the Karinto Manju this time, but I'll definitely get it on my next visit! I'm glad I found such a good shop (^-^)

After being told about a delicious shop that sells fruit daifuku two years ago, I finally got to buy some today! On my first try, they were closed. On my second try, they were closing early for training. On my third try, they were sold out. But today, I finally made it! I had ramen at Wato-san and had 30 minutes before my hair salon appointment, so I decided to check out Amoya-san. They had three types of fruit daifuku: pineapple, strawberry, and mandarin orange. The pineapple daifuku had a perfect balance of pineapple's acidity and sweet white bean paste. The strawberry daifuku had a slightly tart strawberry flavor with sweet white bean paste. The mandarin orange daifuku had just the right amount of sweetness with mandarin orange and sweet white bean paste.

I felt like having Japanese sweets, so I decided to visit this place for the first time. It seems like there are often customers who come here after visiting Shitennoji Temple on weekends. They have a good variety of sweets, and since I don't like smooth red bean paste, they kindly explained which ones have chunky red bean paste. The mugwort daifuku was incredibly soft, to the point where its shape didn't collapse. The sweetness of the red bean paste was just right. I definitely want to come back to this shop.

Fig pie to take home. The pie had a buttery taste with a fig filling that resembled dried fruits. I thought it might have a Western touch, but the white bean paste made it distinctly Japanese! It's a Japanese confection that goes well with tea or wine. Thank you for the meal!

On the way back from the temple, I happened to notice a sign for raw wheat gluten mochi and was drawn to it. Since it was my father's death anniversary, I was planning to buy an offering, so I decided to try the raw wheat gluten mochi. The mochi was wrapped in a chewy raw wheat gluten skin, and the filling was white bean paste and mugwort bean paste. It had a homemade, gentle flavor that didn't leave a cloying sweetness in my mouth. I have passed by this shop countless times, but had never stepped inside before. They have a variety of delicious steamed buns available, so now I have a new joy of buying seasonal steamed buns on my way back from the temple.

This is located on the approach to Shitennoji Temple. It seems that many people who visit the temple often purchase items here. They have a variety of seasonal sweets such as dorayaki and karinto manju, making it hard to choose. I bought the cute Mizusui-ka (140 yen), Seifumochi (130 yen), Pineapple Daifuku (200 yen), and Kiwi Daifuku. Surprisingly, they were all reasonably priced for this area! When I got home, I chilled the Mizusui-ka and tried it. It's a jelly with a firm texture. It was a bit sweet, so I followed the recommendation to chill it in the fridge before eating. It was indeed a bit too sweet for me, but the kids enjoyed it. The Daifuku and Seifumochi were also delicious and well-received! There are many other shops in the area, so I recommend taking a leisurely stroll and buying souvenirs along the way. Thank you for the meal!

The season is moving, and it's the Children's Day festival. I found some chimaki wrapped in bamboo leaves at a nearby Japanese confectionery store. They were selling them individually, not just in sets of 3 or 5, which was great because they tend to be a bit pricey. The chimaki was wrapped in bamboo leaves and tied with what seemed like rush grass, a modern touch. The mochi was easy to hold, wrapped around a small skewer. The scent of the bamboo leaves was delightful. I believe that dishes steamed with seasonal plant leaves, such as chimaki or white steamed rice cakes for the Bon festival (specific to Kyoto and Osaka?), carry a strong fragrance that becomes a key element of the season. The mochi had a perfect balance of salt, sugar, and stickiness, with no uneven steaming. The helmet-shaped pie had red bean paste inside, a clear and cute design. The red bean paste was mildly sweet, and the pie was moist with plenty of butter. It's a serious and delicious combination of Japanese and Western sweets. The reasonable price of 150 yen is very appealing. Chimaki 250 yen, Helmet Pie 150 yen excluding tax.

After enjoying a delicious lunch at "Sakaneya Nainoan," I decided to buy some souvenirs since I don't often come to the Tennoji area. First, I headed to "Amoya Nankasuga" that my wife found, a Japanese sweets shop. I tried the red bean and mugwort daifuku (300 yen), and it was comforting to eat. The crispy texture of the black beans and the flavor of the mugwort were both wonderful. I quietly finished eating, feeling content. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. The journey there was a spiritual one, and it ended stealthily, with no regrets.

I have only been able to compare Karinto manju from about 5 shops, but this one is the best (*⁰▿⁰*). While the Ten Shibaten shop sells them in packs of 5, the Amoya shop sells them individually. Since I am alone today, I bought only 2 pieces. Karinto manju costs 80 yen (excluding tax).

I wanted to eat Osaka's moon-viewing dango, so I went to a traditional Japanese sweets shop that I like, which specializes in karintou manju. I found it! The dango was in the shape of a spindle with sweet red bean paste wrapped around it like a belt. I had accepted the shape without feeling anything strange, but it turns out it represents the moon covered by clouds. I learned this from a TV show that compared moon-viewing dango from various regions. Oh no! The rabbit with a belly band is different! Amoya's moon-viewing dango has a high moisture content, making it soft. The red bean paste also has a high moisture content, making it soft, so I accidentally crushed it a bit because I didn't keep the pack level when taking it home. In terms of taste, compared to the moon-viewing dango I've had before, it felt too soft and lacked a bit of saltiness. When I mentioned that it needed more salt, my husband said it was an "uncharacteristic comment for someone from Kansai," but we do use salt in Osaka. I often buy karintou manju from Amoya's Ten Shibaden store, but I found that their fresh sweets were just not quite to my taste. Moon-viewing dango: 120 yen each (excluding tax)

☆ Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts ~ Isshinji Temple ~ Medicinal Cafe Tennoji Visited the Louvre Museum at the art museum, prayed at Isshinji Temple, and had lunch at the Taiwanese Medicinal Cafe Genki Teahouse. Took a leisurely stroll along the approach to Shitennoji Temple and stopped by a Japanese confectionery shop that caught my eye. They sell "Taishi mochi" named after Prince Shotoku, who built Shitennoji Temple. Another item that caught my eye was the "La France Daifuku." I decided to buy these two items to take home (^-^) Taishi Mochi - 6 pieces for 500 yen (excluding tax) Small, soft mochi made with domestically produced black sugar cane, filled with the shop's special sweet bean paste and generously coated with kinako powder. Even though it was already covered in kinako powder enough to almost spill when served on a plate, there was still more kinako powder provided. It's delicious when mixed with plenty of kinako powder~♪ La France Daifuku - 2 pieces for 400 yen (excluding tax) Made with mochi, white sweet bean paste, and La France pear, the juicy La France pear goes well with the white sweet bean paste and tastes delicious~♪ There are many other items that caught my eye! They also have seasonal items, so I would like to go back and buy more leisurely next time (^-^) Thank you for the meal~

I also bought some sweets on my way back from the shrine visit. This time, I bought a modest black bean daifuku. I had tried it before, but the black beans had a nice texture, and the filling inside and the outer layer were just right, making it very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On this day, I visited Shitennoji Temple and stopped by this shop on my way back! The shop has a traditional atmosphere that is very calming. I bought various items and brought them home. I tried the orange daifuku, which was recommended by the staff, and it had a perfect balance of thin outer layer, sweetness, and the slightly sour taste of orange. It was delicious, and I ended up eating two of them. I could tell that they used high-quality oranges. I also tried a pastry with red bean paste inside, which had a crispy texture on the outside but a moist filling inside. The red bean paste wasn't too sweet, giving it a more mature taste. It was really tasty! Lastly, I also tried a red bean bun, which tasted just as good as the ones you would find lined up at other shops. Overall, everything was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

When the season for it arrives, I always go to "Amoya Minamikasuga" to buy their pastries. My usual purchase there is the "Fig Pie for 170 yen" (≧∀≦). The crispy pie crust always smells so good with butter. The subtly sweet white bean paste and honey-cooked fig filling are exquisite! No matter how many times I eat it, it's always delicious (*´꒳`*). This time, I was planning to just buy the fig pie, but I also ended up getting the "Sweet Potato Pie for 170 yen" recommended by the staff. Inside the pie crust, there's red bean paste and mochi, creating a crispy and chewy texture. This would make a great gift that people would appreciate. The fig pie will be available until early December, so I'll enjoy these pastries until next year's release season ψ(`∇´)ψ.

Different types of daifuku are sold depending on the season. The La France pear and mandarin orange ones were delicious. It's common for daifuku to sell out in the afternoon.
