Hidden gem restaurants are places that you don't want too many people to know about... a quiet place where you can relax and enjoy delicious food, creating the best moments in life. However, on the other hand, there is a desire to share with someone and say, "There's such a great restaurant!" So, I highly recommend Bistro Sumire from now on, but I hope that we can each go at different times and enjoy a leisurely meal. I used the dinner for my wife's birthday celebration. When I entered the restaurant, there was a chef who looked like Saito Takumi (sorry for setting the bar high) managing everything alone. His gentle and friendly customer service left a great impression. There are two courses available for dinner: a 3500 yen course where you can choose a starter and main, and a 5000 yen chef's choice course. At first, I was thinking of choosing the 3500 yen course (to save money), but both the starters and mains had 7 or 8 options to choose from each. Honestly, I couldn't decide because they all looked delicious! Alright, Chef, surprise me!! So, I went with the chef's choice. He first asked about our food preferences and how much we wanted to eat. No preferences, hearty portions! And here are the dishes he served us: - Corn mousse with baguette - Chilled potato soup (forgot to take a photo) - Salmon pie baked in pastry with caramelized onion quiche - Pan-seared mackerel and sea bream - Grilled Miyazaki beef with foie gras - Watermelon and nougat glacé with peach compote and yogurt ice cream - All-you-can-eat bread (the chef kept bringing it to us every time we finished, so probably) Every dish was absolutely delicious. My wife was impressed by the salmon pie baked in pastry. The sweet salmon and tangy sauce combination was outstanding. I was impressed by the caramelized onion quiche. It had a color that could be mistaken for chocolate, almost burnt-looking, but without any bitterness, just a refined taste of pure onion sweetness. And the main course of Miyazaki beef and foie gras was my favorite. The tender meat that melts in your mouth and the wild accent of foie gras combined in the mouth, spreading a blissful flavor. The cooking level, not tough at all despite the thickness of the meat, was a perfect balance with nothing left in the mouth that couldn't be chewed. After enjoying the dessert, we were already stuffed. We really could eat heartily. All this for 5000 yen per person. Enjoying a full and delicious French cuisine course for 5000 yen. It's unbelievable, too good of a deal... I was so impressed that I almost forgot whether the price was tax-exclusive or inclusive. I myself have only eaten expensive French cuisine (probably costing tens of thousands of yen) at a relative's wedding, but if I can be this satisfied for 5000 yen, maybe I don't need to eat anything else... I even think that way. A cozy atmosphere for special occasions as well as for girls' night out or a little luxury with family, without being too pretentious. The handsome chef who kindly asks for refills of water and bread, and considers the air conditioning temperature. And the definite taste of the dishes. This is how a town's French restaurant should be, a wonderful place that you can't help but think about. Thank you for the meal!
