"When it gets hot, the symptoms worsen, especially for this designated rare disease. Unfortunately, there is still no medication that suits me. If reviews and comments suddenly stop, please assume that I have been hospitalized again, as in the previous case. Even if I have to take a break for the third time, I still want to return to being a reviewer. Likes and comments may be delayed, but I plan to catch up once I return.
In June 2020, "Kogaribokurai (Koropokkuru Maruyama Store)" is a seafood izakaya that opened in 1997. This year marks its 23rd year in operation. The main store is located in Susukino and is a long-established store founded in 1972. The main store has many private rooms and was often used for company entertainment. The "Kogaribokurai (Koropokkuru Maruyama Store)" used to offer lunch for 2-3 years after opening. They served meals like makunouchi bento and seafood bowls for lunch. I used to frequent their lunches during that time. Passing by the front of the store, I noticed that they were offering lunch for the first time in about 20 years. Feeling nostalgic, I changed my lunch plans to visit with my usual companion after 20 years.
This store is located in the Maruyama area of Chuo Ward, Sapporo, on the first floor of a building along a main street. For more details on the location, please check on Tabelog. I visited around 12 pm on a weekday. When I entered the store, they were selling bento boxes for lunch. There was one customer before me and one after me. The counter was lined with bento boxes of various kinds, priced around 700 to 800 yen including tax. One of the bento boxes contained the long-awaited "escalope," a dish known as a soul food for Nemuro residents in Eastern Hokkaido. Originally known as "fisherman's meal," it is said to be made for easy consumption before going out to sea, hence the thin cutlet being the norm. There are "red escalope" and "white escalope." The lunch bento I had contained the "white escalope." The rice was butter rice with finely chopped bamboo shoots, topped with a tonkatsu. The tonkatsu was thinly sliced, following the traditional escalope style. The cut was slightly different from the usual tonkatsu curry cut, without the horizontal cut. It was not the sautéed pork cutlet type of escalope. The tonkatsu was topped with demi-glace sauce, with a taste that was different from the typical Western-style demi-glace. The escalope is traditionally served on the same plate with potato salad and vegetable salad. The store reproduced this by serving them separately in cups, showing their attention to detail. The potato salad was delicious, and the vegetable salad consisted of tomatoes, shredded cabbage, and lettuce. The price was 800 yen including tax. The "escalope" I had was the "white escalope," which refers to the butter rice version. The "red escalope" is made with ketchup rice. The salad was also faithfully reproduced on the plate. Over 90% of the dish was a traditional escalope, and it was a generous 500g portion. There are few places in Sapporo that offer authentic escalope. It would normally be rated 3.8 stars, but due to the nostalgia and happiness, I rated it 4.0 stars. I hope they continue to offer this dish. Next time, I might try the "Daily Lunch Bento for 700 yen." Thank you for the delicious meal."
