Last year, I went to Bayside Place Hakata for the countdown event. This year, of course, there are no such events, but I remember there was an oyster shack. When I was going to have dinner with two other people in Hakata, we met up and went there. It is set up in a temporary vinyl house outdoors. You can't see clearly outside, but you can sometimes hear the sound of a whistle, giving a bit of a seaside feel (laughs). Before entering, there is a temperature check, hand sanitizer available, and a limit of 90 minutes stay. There is a charcoal fee of 300 yen per person, and oysters cost 1000 yen per serving. I didn't know what "Gan Gan Mori" meant, so I just ordered the oysters to be grilled on a net, but they actually pack the oysters in a can with a lid and steam them! (The other two knew this) Hmm, steaming them would probably be delicious too, but it's more fun to see them sizzle, right? (˘ω˘) Oh yes, this visual also goes well with sake, and we all agreed to stick to grilling on the net throughout. A serving usually consists of around 7 oysters, mostly large and plump, with the occasional small one, but overall very satisfying. I learned about topping oysters with cheese for the first time. I never thought of trying it, but it was delicious... (˶´⚰︎`˵) Oyster gratin exists, so it makes sense. I never thought about trying it because I love lemon so much. There are quite a few meat options on the side menu, giving it a barbecue feel. It's a bit pricey for the side dishes, but the main focus is on oysters, so it's convenient. In the end, almost half of the cost was for the all-you-can-drink option, so in terms of food, it's not bad (*^^*) It seems more suitable for a date rather than just coming with oyster enthusiasts to eat oysters in silence. The staff members are kind and cheerful. There were quite a few customers, but the staff seemed sufficient, coming promptly when called. They would offer to shuck the oysters for you. I declined as I wanted to improve my skills, but it's a great place for those who want to try shucking oysters but are not confident. It's a bit expensive for the sides, but the main focus is on oysters, so it's okay. The location offers the advantage of having clean restrooms at Bayside Place. It seems more like a place for a light experience rather than just coming to eat oysters in silence. It's a good place for beginners who want to try a genuine oyster shack experience. They even offered some guidance when we struggled with difficult shells ⸜( ´ ꒳ ` )⸝ One thing that needs improvement is the all-you-can-drink system! While it's more accessible from the city compared to Itoshima, there are still many people who come with someone else driving. However, having only one type of all-you-can-drink option is not very considerate. It seems you can't have one person on the all-you-can-drink option and the others on individual drinks, which is a bit inconvenient. Forcing the designated driver to pay an extra 2000 yen is a bit unfair. We managed to convince the designated driver to just split the bill, but it would be nice to have a soft drink option too. Some people don't drink alcohol, and about half of college students are underage. It would be great if they offered a soft drink course. They should also be more vigilant about alcohol being shared. The season lasts until March 14, 2021 ☆
