They also offer takeout, so I thought it would be nice to get some for my next flight and enjoy it with a beer in the lounge. However, feeling hungry, I looked for another restaurant and found Boteyu. Although I had just eaten okonomiyaki at Senbo a few days ago, I decided to give it a try. Looking at the floor map, I discovered a tempura restaurant from Kyoto with a branch here. I decided to try their recommended course (Take) which was served in two parts, with the tempura freshly fried by the chef in front of you. The timing of the first and second batches of tempura was well coordinated, allowing you to enjoy them hot and crispy. Finally, they served rice and miso soup to finish the meal, which was a nice touch. Despite the low rating on Tabelog (3.07 as of February 16, 2023), possibly due to being a new establishment, I found it to be a hidden gem. If you ever find yourself unsure of where to eat at Kansai Airport, I highly recommend giving this place a try.

The interior of the shop has counter seats and table seats, and I chose a table seat for two people. I looked at the menu on the table and ordered the "Kakiage Rice Burger with Miso Soup" (800 yen) for that day. The "Kakiage Rice Burger" is exactly as its name suggests, a burger with tempura kakiage sandwiched between rice buns. It's convenient that the burger is wrapped in a bag so you can eat it without getting your hands dirty. I tried it right away. The kakiage tempura has a crispy coating and a nice aroma. The tempura sauce has soaked into the rice, making it delicious. The miso soup goes well with the rice. I thought that miso soup is a must if you eat in the shop. I finished it in no time. I enjoyed a refined meal of udon and tempura. It was a treat! When I felt like eating at Kansai Airport's domestic flights area, I discovered this restaurant. Since I don't visit Gion in Kyoto often, I decided to try it in Osaka. To celebrate the opening, they were giving out sweets, including tempura rice crackers. I tried the Kyoto vegetable tempura rice crackers, which I had seen being sold at train stations. The rice crackers were crispy and easy to eat, not too hard. They were tastier than I expected!

Ordered the tempura course (bamboo) and while waiting, received complimentary tempura senbei. It was light, crispy, and delicious. It's no wonder it's the top souvenir snack at the airport. The tempura itself was light and tasty! Freshly fried is definitely the best. I tried tempura egg omelette for the first time and was impressed. Delicious. Since it's mainly an international airport, it's quite empty during the current pandemic. So, I decided to visit this place to pass the time. Kyoto, Endo. They seem to be expanding into department stores lately. Inside, there are many table seats. The service was pretty average. The menu is simple. I decided to try the tempura rice burger and the oden skewer. The prices are not great, but I heard that rent at airports is high, so it's understandable. The wait was okay, maybe around 10 minutes. The timing of the food delivery was a bit off, as it seemed like they prioritize cooking over the customers' eating pace. First, I tried the oden skewer. You could smell the fresh seaweed. It seemed like it was made with care. The taste was decent. While having some soup, I tried the rice burger. The cost performance was just okay. Tempura and rice, with limited added value. It was served hot and freshly cooked. It wasn't bad, but not exceptionally delicious either. It was airport food at airport prices. Overall, it was a nice place to be in. Thanks to the scattered sansho pepper seeds, the aftertaste was refreshing. The "tempura rice crackers" I received as a service were also delicious.
