Sunday night. 5:30 pm. It's my first post, but I've probably been here at least three times ^_^ When I looked from the parking lot and saw that the curtain was not out, I thought it was closed haha. I was the first to arrive for the night shift and sat at a table. We ordered Sanagimori Udon, Inari, and my friend ordered the famous Nukadaki set meal and Kitsune Udon. It came in 5 minutes‼️ Wow, so fast ^_^ The udon is thick and soft, with a light and refreshing broth. The tempura (shrimp tempura, gobou tempura, chikuwa tempura) are all huge‼️ The batter is unique, a bit heavy maybe? The Inari sushi is also big ^_^ The Nukadaki was very delicious‼️ I got quite full and had a great meal ♪

I had some free time, so I waited before the restaurant opened. It's a udon shop known for their delicious burdock tempura. I ordered the Three-Kagamori Burdock Udon with burdock tempura, fish cake tempura, and shrimp tempura. My companion ordered the Burdock Tempura Udon with three pieces of burdock tempura. I started with the shrimp tempura while it was hot and it was so plump! The fish cake tempura was very filling. By the time I got to the burdock tempura, I was already full. The udon noodles were chewy and the broth was delicious. But the portions were so big that I couldn't finish the noodles. My companion who ordered the three-piece burdock tempura udon also felt like they should have gone with two pieces instead. The burdock tempura was incredibly crispy and stayed that way for a long time!

Order: Shrimp and burdock tempura for 800 yen. Located in the outskirts of Yahata Nishi in Kitakyushu. As a fan of burdock tempura, I was irresistibly drawn in by the sign. The burdock tempura here is truly as good as the sign promises. With two burdock tempura and one shrimp tempura, it's quite cost-effective. Another delicious meal, another happy belly. Thank you for the feast.

400 yen for one burdock root, 90 yen each x 2580 yen. The broth is not very tasty. The soba noodles are dark in color and lack flavor. It seems to be a popular restaurant, but the food is not very delicious. They also put too much burdock tempura... disappointing. I wonder if the udon is tasty?

I have always been curious about this restaurant. The parking lot is always full and I couldn't park, but today I was able to find a spot so I visited for the first time. The interior of the restaurant is spacious so I was able to sit comfortably. I ordered the popular burdock tempura udon. The burdock tempura was substantial and the noodles and soup were delicious! I definitely want to go back again.

The noodles are as delicious as ever. The homemade noodles are thick, soft, yet chewy. When you bite into them, the aroma of wheat spreads. The broth is also rich and complements the noodles well. The tempura, mainly made of burdock, was my first time trying it, but it was also delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will visit again.

Popular udon restaurant. The parking lot is always full, but on this day it happened to be empty so I decided to go in. Their specialty is burdock tempura. I love burdock tempura so I ordered the burdock tempura udon. The burdock tempura was quite thick. Personally, I prefer it not too thick, but it had a nice texture! Also, it was served separately on a plate so you could enjoy each part as you like. The broth and noodles were delicious too! Truly a popular restaurant, I was impressed.

On a certain Sunday in April 2023, after a 9-month break, I resumed walking at the Seita no Mori Park, walking 5 km. Unfortunately, I had to give up on Sunday, but I will gradually get back to walking around the Kawachi Reservoir. Feeling a bit guilty about it, I decided to visit the popular udon restaurant "Men Wadayasan" for my usual weekend treat. Despite the popular recommendation for the thick tempura, I'm not a fan of it, so I went for the Ume-Kombu udon with croquette. The Ume-Kombu udon was delicious with a rich soup and a delicate flavor of bonito. The noodles were smooth and chewy, and even when my mouth was full, they were enjoyable. The katsudon was just right, not too soupy or like rice porridge. The Ume Inari had a perfect balance of acidity and the croquette was delicious when dipped in the broth. Overall, everything was satisfying and I look forward to going back again. I also bought some Tapi Mochi as a souvenir for my daughter. It was a great meal!

Located next to the Sangamori Funeral Hall, near the intersection of Satochuu 3-chome in Yawata Nishi-ku, Kitakyushu City, this restaurant is known for its homemade noodles, homemade broth, and delicious burdock tempura. I ordered the Burdock Tempura Udon (with 3 pieces of burdock, large size) and a plum rice ball. The tempura is fried after the order is placed, so it's always crispy. The toppings of seaweed and burdock tempura were served on a separate plate. The homemade noodles are thick and soft, with a chewy texture. The broth has a mild and gentle flavor. The burdock tempura is quite large, about 10cm in length and as thick as half of a burdock cut vertically. You can choose the number of burdock pieces (1-4 pieces, with varying prices). The crispy tempura with a satisfying chewiness of burdock is delicious! Although I realized later that 2 pieces would have been enough (laughs). This restaurant is highly praised by udon enthusiasts, and the taste is truly satisfying. It was delicious! It has also been featured on the popular Fukuoka local TV show "Momochi Hamastore" in the "Udon MAP" segment!

Recently, I have been regularly visiting the Hachiman Nishi area. Despite being drawn to "Ginga no Chanpon," I decided to try out the udon restaurant "Men Waday" that had caught my interest. The menu prominently featured "gobo tempura," so I opted for the Ebi Gobo Tempura Udon set priced at 780 yen. The tempura was served separately to enjoy its texture. Within 10 minutes, the Ebi Gobo Tempura Udon arrived. The gobo tempura was indeed thick and provided a satisfying crunch, almost like eating chunks of gobo. Personally, I prefer shredded or thinly sliced tempura, so the strong presence of the thick gobo tempura left me feeling a bit unsure. Perhaps because it was served separately, I found the tempura coating to be too crispy for my liking. In contrast, the ebi tempura had a good balance between the coating and the shrimp, offering a pleasant texture. The udon noodles had a uniquely soft texture typical of Fukuoka, with a slightly sweet and kelp-infused broth that paired well with the dish. I look forward to trying a different menu item next time. This was my first visit. I had noticed before that there were always many customers in front of the shop, so I thought it must be a popular place. I decided to go after reading on Tabelog that "the burdock tempura is delicious." The burdock was thick and large. Personally, I thought it could be a bit smaller. The taste is definitely delicious. It's no wonder it's a popular shop. I will visit again.

I arrived at the restaurant before noon. There were only about two parking spaces left, but there was still plenty of space inside the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu with photos, as it reduced the chances of the food looking different from what I expected. I ordered a small portion this time, which was actually 50 yen cheaper. I was surprised by the generous amount of chicken in the dish, which was different from what I had imagined. They also served seaweed on a small plate. When I asked the staff about the seaweed topping, they kindly explained that I could add as much as I liked or even skip it if I didn't like it. They mentioned that if I had ordered the topping, I would have received about double the amount. The staff was flexible and accommodating, and the restaurant was easy to use with its menu photos, so I would rate it 4.0. They accept PayPay, and they also gave me a discount coupon for my next visit.

Visited around 19:40 on Friday. Ordered 3 servings of burdock udon for 640 yen, recommended for regular customers. Served in about 4 minutes. Burdock tempura and seaweed served on separate plates. The udon noodles were soft and chewy with thick texture. The soup had a strong dashi flavor. The tempura coating on the burdock was very crispy. The burdock slices were thick with a diameter of about 2cm. Three servings was a bit too much and got a little boring. Added some sesame seeds and chili pepper from the table for extra flavor. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant with one other person. My companion had eaten there before and said it was delicious, so we ordered the "bukkake" and chicken rice. We debated getting the large portion but ended up not doing so, and we were very satisfied with our decision. The "bukkake" dish required pouring broth over it and mixing it roughly while eating. The grated yam added a nice light touch, and the meat was very appetizing. We also had a huge gobou (burdock root) tempura as an accent. I wanted to add some tempura flakes from the table, but I was too full. The meat was just too delicious... The seasoning was also incredibly tasty, and I was very surprised! The gobou tempura had a crunchy coating, and you could really taste the burdock root. The chicken rice was also amazing. The flavor had soaked into the rice so well! I definitely want to go back to this restaurant. Next time, I want to try ordering warm udon with four pieces of gobou tempura like a pro!笑

Located in Yahatanishi Ward, Kitakyushu City, Ritanaka is a udon restaurant that has been in business for 20 years. Despite being in a position that could easily join the ranks of long-established udon shops in Yahatanishi Ward, the menu offers a fresh and innovative feel. The specialty dish is the gobou (burdock root) tempura. The gobou tempura udon allows you to choose the number of tempura pieces. The most popular choice is the Sankamori gobou. The Sankamori bukkake udon is also a hit. Other menu items include shrimp gobou, meat gobou, gomoku, satisfying bukkake, umekatsuo bukkake, zaru, zaru kara, kamayaki udon, katsudon, gyudon, homemade shrimp fry set meal, and mackerel rice with nukadaki set meal, among others. This time, I ordered the Sankamori gobou (850 yen). The Sankamori gobou features thick burdock tempura, plump shrimp tempura, and a large chikuwa tempura. The noodles are chewy and soft. The clear udon soup has a strong dashi flavor, perhaps slightly salty. The tempura coating for the gobou, shrimp, and chikuwa are all different. The gobou tempura has a thick and crunchy coating, making it a bit difficult to eat. The shrimp and chikuwa tempura are crispy and delicious. For some reason, the wakame seaweed is served separately. Visited around 5:00 PM on Sunday, with a few parking spaces available in front and about 70% full. Ordered the Niku Gobo Tempura Udon, with the thick-cut Gobo Tempura being a specialty. Personally, I prefer thinner tempura, but the thick one provided a satisfying crunch. The soft udon noodles were delicious. My companion ordered the Ume Tori Tempura Don, which had a balanced and interesting combination. Overall, a highly popular udon restaurant with great overall quality.

I wanted to eat the popular fried chicken at Wada-ya near Nagaemaru Station in Yahatanishi-ku, Kitakyushu City. There is also Ramen Kobo Ryu and Udon Masa nearby, but today I wanted to try the fried chicken at Wada-ya. I arrived around 13:30 and luckily found a parking space, so I parked and headed inside. I sat at the counter, looked at the menu, and noticed that the fried chicken with tartar sauce seemed interesting! I decided to go with the fried chicken set (780 yen tax included) and upgraded to a mini udon for an extra 100 yen. I also found out that I could get a free extra serving of rice and vegetables, so I went for the vegetable extra serving since I already had udon. After about 10 minutes, my meal arrived. The fried chicken consisted of four pieces of thigh meat, a salad with shredded cabbage (extra serving!), burdock side dish, rice, and a side of mini udon with seaweed on a separate plate. It was quite a generous portion! The fried chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and tasted delicious with the soy sauce flavor. The tartar sauce added a nice touch. The udon was served in a slightly sweet broth with seaweed, and the noodles had a homemade texture to them. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. I'll have to try the tempura and pork cutlet rice bowl set next time I visit. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to Wadayato in Sangamori, their specialty is the thick burdock tempura udon. The standard serving is 4 pieces, but I opted for 2 pieces as I have a small appetite. The tempura batter is thin and crispy, while the burdock inside is thick and tender with a slight sweetness. The noodles are traditional Fukuoka-style udon, hand-made with a good balance of softness and chewiness, and flavorful broth. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I come here multiple times for the crispy and juicy shrimp tempura and burdock tempura. The toppings on the plain udon are the same price, so I usually add 2 burdock tempura. This time, I also tried the shrimp tempura for the first time. The 3 burdock tempura was quite filling, just right for me. I forgot to take a photo, but my husband's chicken tempura set was also generous in portion. Next time, I want to try their soba noodles.

This time, I visited the restaurant with a friend. My friend ordered the extra-large serving of burdock udon for 640 yen including tax, while I ordered the following: - Ume Burdock Udon for 590 yen including tax. It comes with 2 thick burdock tempura sticks, seedless pickled plum, and shiso on top of the udon. The burdock tempura sticks are thick and crunchy, providing a satisfying texture. The batter remains crispy even when soaked in the soup until the end. Although the focus is on the burdock tempura, the udon and soup were also delicious. The udon noodles are soft but chewy, reminiscent of the softer version of Sanuki udon noodles. The soup has a rich soy sauce flavor, different from the clear appearance of Hakata-style soup. There was Oita soy sauce available for purchase next to the register, so they might be using that soy sauce. The Ume Burdock Udon has a refreshing taste with the plum meat and shiso blending well with the soup, offering both lightness and umami. It was very delicious. - Other points: - The parking lot can accommodate over 10 cars around the restaurant, but it is challenging to maneuver due to its location at a large intersection. - There are counter seats and table seats available, making it easy for solo diners to visit.
