It's located in a hard-to-find place, but it's retro and cute. I could relax in the tatami room. There were various types of food, which was nice. The selection of alcohol was amazing. The atmosphere was really good! I want to go again ^_^

A shop with a Showa-era atmosphere offering various types of shochu. The shop is a bit hidden and hard to find, but once you step inside, you'll be surrounded by a nostalgic Showa vibe that is enjoyable from the entrance to the back of the shop.

You can drink a variety of rare shochu at this place, and it's only around 500 yen per glass. The food is also delicious and has a home-cooked feel to it. The interior of the restaurant has a Showa era atmosphere, with old-fashioned tables. The tables are a bit low and not very comfortable to sit at, but the delicious food makes up for it. I would definitely like to go back again.

Rare shochu is so fruity that it can be mistaken for sake. It pairs well with simmered beef tendons. The retro Showa atmosphere, sometimes even with the needle skipping on the record, is also nice.

My friend H and I ended our day at "Toryu" in Shirokan, Chuo-ku. We were already quite drunk, but decided to have more drinks. I ordered a "Kinmiya Hoppy" for 500 yen, while H ordered a "Yuzu Sour" for 580 yen. We also ordered the following noodles: - Goto Udon Jigoku Suki for 550 yen - Bacon Cream Ramen for 880 yen It took over 30 minutes for our order to arrive, even though the place didn't seem too crowded. The Goto Udon was served with chopped seaweed, green onions, and ginger as toppings. It was just a regular udon. The Bacon Cream Ramen had 2 slices of bacon, 3 asparagus, and a topping of garlic. It tasted like homemade ramen, but not particularly delicious. We were full by the end of the meal. Well, thank you for the meal!

This shop has an atmosphere that feels like it slipped back to the early Showa period. It opens at 7 o'clock, but reservations by phone start at 7:30, which is understandable for a bar. The shop is an impressive old folk house with a nostalgic feel. There are already several customers inside. They offer premium shochu, starting with rare varieties, a total of 8 kinds. I also had a glass of sake. Beer was all-you-can-drink, with Ebisu beer generously served. The staff, who seemed to be Chinese, provided good service. They quickly brought the drinks even though we were drinking fast, and they explained ingredients we didn't like and accommodated our preferences. The horse sashimi with mane, dipped in sweet soy sauce mixed with garlic and shiso, paired perfectly with shochu, creating a blissful experience. The Akane Kirishima shochu was especially delicious. Since I usually drink Ichiko or affordable shochu at home, it tasted even better here. The finale of gyoza hot pot and champon filled our stomachs and left us completely satisfied. This shop is highly recommended as a hidden gem.

I went to the shochu bar "Mogura" in Shirokane, Chuo Ward! It's been a while since I've been to Mogura. It's located in the backstreets of Shirokane, near a pharmacy with a statue-like landmark in front. They have over 500 types of shochu, mainly focusing on sweet potato shochu. The place is a retro-style renovated old house, with a nostalgic Showa-era vibe. The music and decorations really add to the atmosphere. We sat in a room with a low table, so cozy! I started with a rock glass of sweet potato shochu "Sakurai Kuro". The shochu list has labels and comments to help you choose, it's really fun to pick one. They even have limited edition shochu with a limited production each year! Shochu lovers, this place is a must-visit! Prices start at 350 yen, with rare ones around 650 yen.

I visited a shochu bar called "Doryu" famous for its shochu in Hakata. This place has a retro vibe as it is renovated from an old folk house, making it a very cozy place to relax. There is also a branch called "Doryu" in Daimyo. When you pass through the entrance curtain, you will find a Showa retro atmosphere with goods and music from the 1960s to 1970s. The owner, who holds a shochu advisor qualification, is a kind uncle. There are about 500 types of shochu in the store, making it a challenge to manage. The walls are adorned with nostalgic record jackets from the 1960s to 1970s. You can enjoy meals at the table... It's not a nostalgic public bath, but there are private rooms in the back. There are also private room types on the left side after entering the entrance. You will be captivated by the idol records. Amazing, right? The menu is varied... The motsunabe seems to be popular. Chicken Karaage for 580 yen, Takoyama Tetsu for 650 yen - octopus, yam, cheese grilled on a hot plate. There are other rich menu items... Gyrokke for 380 yen, etc. Highly recommended. This is a very old topic, but... "Shochu Bar Dojo" This is my second time coming here. It's a Showa-era style old folk house izakaya. It has a rural home-like atmosphere. This time, I got a ticket for the first time through "Ponpare"!! The 2-hour all-you-can-drink course for 4000 yen was only 1980 yen. It's less than half price! When I entered the store, I was a little surprised to see that the dishes were already lined up. It was a course meal with about 5 dishes. The course included: Today's small dish, Caesar salad, Satsuma local chicken sashimi assortment, delicious chicken wings, tempura of squid, round intestine motsu hot pot, finishing champon noodles, and matcha or vanilla ice cream. The motsu hot pot was miso flavored, very rich and thick. The drink all-you-can was good with Ebisu beer, Mitsuyama, Satsuma Chaya, etc. Truly a shochu bar! It was a 2-hour all-you-can-drink course, but after about 1 hour, there was a countdown-like atmosphere... "Can we bring the next dish?" or "How many more dishes are there?" We felt rushed (we eat slowly). I left the store with some doubts... was it because we had the cheap Ponpare course? But I was a little happy to receive a souvenir. I visited the restaurant on the invitation of an acquaintance. The location in a residential area made me doubt if there was actually a restaurant there, and even when I arrived in front of the restaurant, I was unsure if it was okay to enter. The retro Showa-era decorations and interior were nostalgic and enjoyable, and the "Beef Tendon Tofu" dish was delicious with tender tendons and tofu soaked in flavor. The "Charred Maruchou Nabe" was exceptional, with the perfect balance of fat and flavor, even appealing to those who aren't fans of offal. It was by far the best maruchou I've ever had. However, it was disappointing that despite the advertised 50% cashback for the 10th-anniversary celebration, they mentioned that it didn't apply to set courses as they were already cheap. This information wasn't mentioned anywhere, so it felt like a lack of explanation. Overall, I would rate it a "2" due to this, but in other aspects, it could be a "4". The staff, especially the female server, was charming, so I guess it's okay.

I used this restaurant while on a business trip with colleagues from the company. I had heard that they had a good selection of shochu, and it was true. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was very nice, and I really liked the vibe. The food was average, nothing special, but still enjoyable. They had a good variety of shochu to choose from. It's a bit far from where I usually go, so I don't have many opportunities to visit, but I definitely want to go back again.

The other day, I visited this place for the first time. I found it online and was curious, so I went with a friend to have a few drinks. We had some trouble finding the entrance as it was a bit hidden from the main road, but we eventually spotted it by the lantern attached to the building. The interior of the restaurant had a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. We ordered a platter of chicken sashimi (¥1,400) and were surprised by the generous portion size. We ended up only ordering one more dish as the first one was quite filling for the two of us. They had over 500 types of shochu, and we mainly enjoyed ones from Daikai Shuzo. We had planned to leave early since it was a weekday, but the cozy atmosphere made us stay until closing time. As we left, they even gave us a small gift to take home. We definitely want to visit again in the future.

I found a takeout sign while walking from Yakuin Station towards Hirao. Intrigued by the horse liver sashimi that I don't often eat at home, I decided to stop by. Following the sign into a back alley, I discovered a quaint old-fashioned shop. Despite not making a reservation, I was told that takeout was okay, so I ordered the "Horse Liver Sashimi 1380 yen → 860 yen" and also the "3 Types of Chicken Sashimi Platter 1600 yen → 960 yen". While waiting, I asked if I could have a drink, and they kindly invited me inside. The interior had a retro Showa era vibe with various posters that got me excited. I thought they only had beer or highballs, but to my surprise, they had a wide selection of shochu, including a matcha mixed drink. I tried the matcha mixed with rice shochu! It seemed like a fun place for a second round after the pandemic. As for the takeout dishes, the liver sashimi portion was quite generous for the price, but I wished the slices were a bit larger. The chicken sashimi platter included thigh, gizzard, and breast meat, all fresh and delicious. The only downside was that the sauce spilled in the bag by the time I got home, so be careful when taking it home! It's great that you can enjoy dishes that you wouldn't normally have at home through restaurant takeout. Thank you for the meal!
