At lunchtime, they offer a ramen and fried rice set for 700 yen, and a bottle of beer for 550 yen. The beer is Kirin Lager, served in a typical glass. The food seemed like it was pre-made, with cracked rice and lacking a glossy appearance. The fried rice had a noticeable amount of pickled radish on top. The ramen was not good, with a thin and lacking soup base. However, the portions were generous for the price. The atmosphere in the restaurant gave off a sense of tradition, but the quality of the food did not match up to expectations.

This is a well-known old-fashioned restaurant in Kokura that serves meat yakimeshi. Although there was a bit of a wait, I was smoothly guided to the counter. Most people seemed to order the meat yakimeshi, so I decided to try the ramen + small meat yakimeshi set. The ramen seemed to be made with egg noodles, different from the thin noodles typically used in tonkotsu ramen. The soup wasn't as rich as it looked, with a slightly blurry taste. Next, the small meat yakimeshi arrived. It was fried rice with pork on top, but the flavors didn't really stand out. I wondered if it was intentionally made that way, but even the fried rice itself wasn't very flavorful. In terms of portion size, it was quite filling and had great value for the price. As I was leaving, I overheard a customer saying how delicious it was, so I had high expectations, but unfortunately, it didn't suit my taste. Thank you for the meal.

Located along Chuugindoori, just a short walk from Kokura Station in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is the well-established restaurant "Nyan Nyan." Surprisingly, their ramen is only 500 yen! In an era where ramen can easily cost close to 1000 yen, this price is truly appreciated. I initially thought of just having the ramen, but this restaurant is known for its grilled meat rice. I couldn't resist trying it. I ordered the B set (ramen + small grilled meat rice) for 800 yen. After a short wait, the grilled meat rice arrived. It was topped with thick slices of pork. The flavorful grilled rice paired with the tasty meat was a delight. The portion was quite generous for a "small" size. Soon after, the ramen arrived. The sesame-flavored soup had a light taste typical of Kitakyushu. The noodles were medium-thick, which felt somewhat unusual for a region where thin noodles are more common. The thicker noodles provided a satisfying chew. Although I came for the ramen, most customers sitting at the counter were ordering only the grilled meat rice. It seems that the grilled meat rice is a popular choice here.

I visited my daughter's favorite restaurant, "Niku Yakimeshi," after a long time. This place is famous in Kokura and has been featured in the media. The price for Niku Yakimeshi is 650 yen including tax, and you can choose from small or large sizes. The regular size is quite generous, so I imagine the large size is impressive. The Yakimeshi has a simple taste with sweet soy sauce seasoning on the thinly sliced meat, which also includes some chunkier pieces. Personally, I prefer the meat to be thinly sliced and uniform in thickness. Please note that there is no parking available at the store, but there are many coin parking lots nearby.

I arrived at the restaurant seeking the soul food of Kokura, the meat yakimeshi, which was also featured on a TV show. I arrived just before 12 o'clock, but it seemed like the restaurant was full, so I had to wait outside for about 5 minutes. While waiting, more customers arrived one after another. I was seated on the second floor and ordered the meat yakimeshi that I was looking for. Many reviews mentioned that it had a huge portion, so I decided to pass on the ramen set, but in the end, I think I could have managed the ramen set as well. The meat yakimeshi had a striking appearance, but the taste was not as strong as I had imagined. The meat was also slightly sweet with a mild flavor.

I have been to Ogura a few times, but this is my first time before 12 o'clock, with 5 or 6 people lining up. The food was served quickly, even the small portion was sufficient. The taste was just as I imagined. The soup was quite thick and went well with the pork dish. When leaving, I noticed pickled ginger and mustard greens on the counter, which I couldn't see from my seat. It was a bit disappointing.

It was exquisite. This time, I had the Pork, Leek, and Egg Stir-Fry (700 yen) as a set meal (+50 yen). The set meal includes rice and soup. Many people describe the soup as "ramen soup", but when I tried it, it seemed like ramen soup with added vinegar or something to give it a sour taste. So, if you're expecting traditional ramen soup, you might be surprised. The stir-fry is quite rich, so the sour soup complements it perfectly. The pork in the Pork, Leek, and Egg Stir-Fry is served on a bed of fried rice. It is cooked with plenty of leeks, cabbage, bean sprouts, and a sweet sauce, topped with soft scrambled eggs. All of this for 750 yen is unbelievable. Whether it's ramen, fried rice, or stir-fry, everything is top-notch quality.

It may be good for regular customers who have been going there for a long time, but it may not be recommended for new customers. The old-fashioned atmosphere is not disliked, but the taste was not really to my liking. The meat used in the famous grilled meat and rice dish was mostly fatty and not great. The ramen was also...

Today, I finally visited the popular restaurant with a constant line, Gyouretsu no Mago Mago. I arrived a little after 1 pm, so I had to wait a bit before being seated. I ordered the grilled meat rice bowl (small) and ramen set B, which only cost 800 yen, a great deal. Despite the crowd, the food was served incredibly fast! The ramen and fried rice weren't as heavy as they looked, but had a gentle flavor. No wonder this place is so popular. It seems you can also add rice to the side dishes to make it a set meal, so I'll try that next time.

A Chinese restaurant in Kokura known for its B-class gourmet dish, meat fried rice. This time, I tried their yakisoba for the first time, which was cooked skillfully by the owner, showing their long history. The yakisoba had chewy noodles, plenty of vegetables, and meat, making it very filling. The sauce, thickened with potato starch, was hot until the end and went well with the provided pickled ginger.

Arrived before 12 o'clock but it was already full. Waited for about 5 minutes and finally got a seat. Ordered the recommended grilled meat rice dish. It came with a white chicken soup that was like ramen soup, which was helpful when my throat felt dry. The price was reasonable (maybe because the cost is low?), and even without ordering a large portion, I felt full. The taste of the grilled rice was decent, but there was also chili oil available to add for flavor variation. Towards the end, I poured a lot of chili oil and finished the meal. Thank you for the meal.

It's been over 10 years since I last visited this ramen shop. There is a coin parking nearby. It gets pretty crowded on weekends, but you can usually find a spot easily on weekdays. The first floor has counter seats, and the second floor has four-person tables and two counter seats. I ordered the Ramen B set meal (small pork fried rice + ramen) for 800 yen. The pork fried rice is topped with sweetly seasoned pork belly. It used to have a stronger flavor, but it seems like the taste has changed. The fried rice is quite oily, but it's popular among young people.

Blog: Daughter (Kokura) Theme: Nikuyakimeshi Established in 1960, this Chinese restaurant is known for serving the soul food of Kitakyushu City, "nikuyakimeshi." The interior of the restaurant has a nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of a Showa-era Chinese diner, with seating options including counter seats facing the kitchen on the first floor and table seats on the second floor. The menu offers a wide variety of noodle dishes, rice dishes, stamina set meals, and dumplings. One of the specialties that emerged shortly after the restaurant's founding is the "nikuyakimeshi," a hearty dish consisting of fried rice seasoned with pork bone soup and salt, topped with fatty pork belly cooked in a sweet and savory soy-based sauce. The dish is known for its addictive seasoning and generous portion that satisfies hunger. Customers can choose from small, medium, or large servings. The fried rice is moist and not too dry, with a sweet flavor profile throughout. The combination of the fatty pork belly and soy sauce glaze with the fried rice is exquisite. The more you eat, the more you crave the addictive flavors, making it hard to stop digging in with your spoon. The pork belly topping is prepared in large batches in a wok and reheated with each order, cooked in a sukiyaki-style sauce made from sugar, soy sauce, and pork bone soup. The pork belly has a good amount of fat and a satisfying chew, releasing a burst of umami with each bite. The accompanying pork bone ramen soup is also top-notch. Once you try it, you'll be hooked on this exceptional dish.

Ramen B set meal (ramen + small grilled meat rice) at "Chuka Ryori Myou Myou" in Kyomachi, Kokura Kita-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. This popular restaurant, known for its grilled meat rice, was featured on a TV show due to its long lines. Despite being a small size, the portion is large with plenty of thick and sweet pork belly. It's addictive. The salty and refreshing pork bone soup pairs perfectly with the sweet and savory grilled meat rice. It's very filling.

I came to "Musume Musume" near Kokura Station for work, so I came to have lunch. There were 3 people lined up in front of the shop, so I lined up at the end. Excited to be here. After waiting for about 7 minutes, I entered the store. The first floor has only counter seats. I ordered the "Ramen B set meal," which is a set of "Ramen" and "Grilled Pork Fried Rice Small." After waiting for about 5 minutes, the "Grilled Pork Fried Rice" arrived! There is plenty of pork belly on top of the fried rice. It's a lot, almost too much for a small size. The fried rice is stir-fried to a fluffy texture. The saltiness is just right. The thickly simmered pork belly is delicious. Then the ramen arrived! The soup is slightly viscous tonkotsu broth with a slightly high salt content. Next, I slurped the noodles. They are yellow thin noodles, cooked firm by default. Toppings include chashu, bean sprouts, and chopped green onions. As I started drinking the soup, I couldn't stop. I finished all the food and drink. Payment was made in cash. The grilled pork fried rice comes in 400g, small size in 240g, and large in 600g. (There will be a price change starting next week.)

Local favorite Chinatown in the downtown area, loved by the locals! I found it and fell in love at first sight and had to try it out! This place is a renowned Chinese restaurant established in 1960 in Kokura, Kitakyushu. They are known for their specialty dish, "Grilled Meat Fried Rice," which is cheap, delicious, and filling. It seems like they were even featured on a local TV show! It's like a soul food that everyone in the area knows, and I saw strong men devouring it with gusto! I visited on a weekday afternoon and there was a constant stream of people coming in and out. It's very popular! The highlight here is definitely the "Grilled Meat Fried Rice." It's a flavorful fried rice with a generous amount of thick pork belly on top. The balance of flavors is spot on and it's so tasty! The pork belly isn't of the highest quality, but it's not tough, and the fat is just right for the fried rice. And the best part? It's only 600 yen for a regular size! It's so cheap! By adding the table condiments like chili oil, pickled ginger, pickled mustard greens, and garlic, you can customize it to your liking and take it to the next level! I noticed that the strong men were ordering the set that comes with grilled meat fried rice and ramen. I wish there was a place like this near my home...笑

I went to the ramen shop called Musume Musume that I had been curious about for a while! I intended to eat the meat yakimeshi, but I mistakenly ordered the A set instead ^^; Next time, I will try again with the B set! The noodles are medium-thick egg noodles, I think? It's a simple ramen. Personally, I found the taste of the chashu a little off-putting...

I arrived early in Kokura for a business trip and had lunch at a nearby restaurant with my daughter. We ordered B set. The chef seemed a bit grumpy due to equipment malfunction (lol), but the meat yakimeshi was delicious! The sweet pork and tamagoyaki meshed well. The ramen with its indescribable soup was also fantastic. I'd love to come back again! ✨

I was taken to a recommended Chinese restaurant by a local during my business trip to Kitakyushu. It's a truly traditional place. Although they had large servings of fried rice, I opted for a regular size as it seemed like a lot. Even so, it was quite a portion. The taste is really addictive. I recommend visiting this restaurant when you're hungry.

I visited a local Chinese restaurant in Kokura known for its B-class gourmet dishes and decided to try their meat fried rice. I ordered the B set meal with a small portion of meat fried rice after reading a preliminary review mentioning the large portion size. The dish had a striking appearance with stir-fried pork piled high on top of the fried rice, appealing to the inner high school boy in me. When I took the first bite, I was blown away by how sweet the meat was! I had imagined a savory-sweet flavor from sugar and soy sauce-marinated meat on top of fried rice. However, the meat was almost white in color with hardly any soy sauce visible. It was fatty and incredibly sweet, without the saltiness of soy sauce. It seems like this kind of flavor is popular in this area. While the meat was surprisingly sweet when eaten on its own, mixing it with the salty fried rice gave it a different impression. Nonetheless, I found that eating only the sweet meat could become overwhelming, so I added some chili oil and soy sauce to keep things interesting until I finished the dish! Despite ordering a small portion, the dish was quite filling, so it's important to keep up the pace while eating. The ramen had a simple appearance typical of this area, with soft, medium-thin noodles. The slightly dry chashu added a nostalgic touch to the dish. There were no options for extra toppings or noodles, just a simple and filling ramen dish typical of a local Chinese restaurant.
