It can be a bit hard to notice that there is a dining area inside the shop located in the Tang Chinatown shopping street, as the entrance side is a retail store. This restaurant offers delicious Oita local dishes. I ordered a set with a choice of three fried dishes, which came with two side dishes for only 1,000 yen. It was very luxurious! The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, making it a comfortable place to dine. I definitely want to go back again.

In mid-June on a Sunday during lunch break, I visited the restaurant. It was around 11:50, and about 70-80% of the tables were occupied. By the time I left, the restaurant was full. I felt like I had fried chicken yesterday, so on my fourth visit, I wanted to try a different menu. The options were: - Buri-kama set meal at Miyake Suisan with simmered or grilled for 900 yen - Ryuukyu set meal at Yamaro Watanabe for 800 yen Honestly, both set meals lacked volume and weren't very cost-effective. Maybe fried dishes are the way to go after all. They accept PayPay. Thank you for the meal!

Antenna shop and restaurant in Saiki, Oita Prefecture. Located in the Karakoto shopping street. I had a bit of trouble finding it because there were no signs, but once inside, I was seated at the counter. I ordered the Fried Horse Mackerel Set for 850 yen, which came with two cute pieces of fried horse mackerel, side dish, rice, and miso soup. The horse mackerel was delicious, a true taste of Oita! The side dish was carefully made with burdock tataki (sesame dressing) and pumpkin. The miso soup was also tasty! My partner ordered the KATARU Set for 1200 yen, which came with one piece of fried horse mackerel, vegetables, a drink, and pudding for dessert. The KATARU Set was quite filling. The service from the staff was polite and welcoming. If this restaurant was closer to my home, I would definitely visit 1-2 times a week. This place ranks high for me in terms of fried horse mackerel sets in Fukuoka Prefecture. Thank you for the delicious meal!

There is an Antenna shop for "Oita / Saiki" in the Tang Chinatown shopping street. You can enjoy Saiki's fish-centered set meals. I saw it on SNS a while ago and was interested in it... Saiki is known for delicious fish. Inside the shop, Oita and Saiki food products are also sold, with a dining area at the back. I'm happy that they serve cold tea. ^^ I was tempted to just have the fried horse mackerel, but I wanted to try the Oita specialty "Ryukyu" after a long time, so I ordered the "KATARU set meal (1,200 yen: tax included: credit cards accepted)". By the way, "Ryukyu" is a dish made by marinating leftover fish scraps and sashimi in a sauce made of soy sauce, mirin, sesame, etc. When I asked about the fish of the day, it was "yellowtail". The KATARU set meal (1,200 yen) includes dessert and a drink. * From the top... It's nice that it comes with two small side dishes. - Fried horse mackerel with tartar sauce and regular sauce. * The horse mackerel is a decent size and fried crispy and delicious. I don't like the sauce, so I ate it with tartar sauce. - Ryukyu... The fish was yellowtail. I wonder if it's a bit less than I thought. (^_^;) * There are 3 slices of yellowtail, and it's delicious with the sauce flavor soaked in. - Plenty of macaroni salad - Wakame seaweed vinegar dish. - The miso soup with seaweed is tasty. - The rice is simply delicious. - The dessert is "pudding" with a good volume. It's easy to eat with a mild sweetness. - I had an iced coffee for the drink. The set meal with dessert for 1,200 yen feels like a good deal, and most importantly, being able to enjoy fresh Oita delicacies in Fukuoka City is great.♪

I took a quick lunch break and wandered around the Karasunomachi shopping street area, visiting a place called "KATARU" that had caught my attention before. Located near the west entrance of the Karasunomachi shopping street, this small community space on the 1st floor of a building houses the restaurant. The place doesn't have a big sign and the exterior doesn't look like a typical eatery, so it's easy to overlook. But there's a menu sign outside that serves as a marker. Inside, Oita prefecture's products are displayed, and there's a space to enjoy a meal at the back. The shop is run by two women who work efficiently and have a good vibe. The menu features mainly dishes made with local seafood from around Saiki City in Oita prefecture, similar to an antenna shop. Popular items include "Horse Mackerel Fry Set Meal," local specialty "Ryukyu Set Meal," "Grilled Yellowtail Belly Set Meal," "Fried Chicken with Saiki Salt Miso Set Meal," and "Kamae Specialty Yellowtail Cutlet Set Meal," among others. I was torn between choices but decided on the "KATARU Set Meal" for 1200 yen, which offers a variety of dishes. The meal arrived in about 5 minutes. It included a small horse mackerel fry, Ryukyu dish, two side dishes (pumpkin salad, lotus root stew), pasta salad, and miso soup with seaweed. The portions were modest overall. I started with the famous horse mackerel fry, which was crispy, fragrant, and had a nice crunchy texture. I added a bit of store-bought tartar sauce, but personally, I think it would taste better with Worcestershire sauce. The Ryukyu dish featured marinated yellowtail sashimi in soy sauce, sake, and mirin, with a rich flavor. It paired well with the rice. The rice was refillable, but I resisted the temptation to have seconds as overeating was not a good idea. Although I found it a bit pricey, most other items on the menu were in the 800 yen range, which is reasonable. The horse mackerel fry was quite delicious, so I would consider coming back. Thank you for the meal.

In mid-May on a Sunday, my wife and I visited the restaurant for lunch during a break from work. We arrived a little before 12 o'clock and found a table as about 60% of the seats were occupied. By the time we left, the restaurant was full. The menu had changed, and the new menu was shown in the image. My wife chose the set meal with two pieces of fried horse mackerel and ginger-flavored croquette. The horse mackerel was not very big but fluffy and delicious as always. The ginger-flavored croquette was a new taste for us, and it had a nice ginger flavor that added to its deliciousness. The side salad was quite impressive this time, and the miso soup with seaweed was also delicious. We paid with PayPay. Thank you for the meal!

Here "KATARU" is a restaurant that specializes in dishes made using products from Saiki City in Oita Prefecture. It also serves as an antenna shop for Saiki City. It is also a sister store of the nearby deli "Tokusuke". The restaurant can be used as a casual dining place or for drinking alcohol. The service from the two female staff members is very good. The set meal menu mainly features seafood from Bungo Suido, including dishes like "Ryukyu set meal", "KATARU set meal", "Salted mackerel half set meal", "Horse mackerel simmered in miso set meal", "Grilled salted yellowtail collar set meal", "Simmered yellowtail collar set meal", "Red sea bream set meal", "Fried horse mackerel set meal", "Fried mackerel set meal", "Fried chicken with Saiki salt koji set meal", and "Kama City specialty fried yellowtail cutlet set meal", among others, with over 10 options available. All of them are appealing, but this time I chose the "Kama City specialty fried yellowtail cutlet set meal" (800 yen). I love yellowtail, but I had never tried yellowtail cutlet before, so I decided to give it a try. The yellowtail cutlet is crispy and fragrant, with a crunchy texture that is delightful. The yellowtail is cooked just right, with a smooth texture that is not dry, and it has a firm bite and rich juiciness. The best way to enjoy the yellowtail cutlet is to eat it as it is, but it also tastes good with the tartar sauce and Worcestershire sauce provided. The portion of the yellowtail cutlet itself is satisfying. Rice refills are available. The side vegetables, small dishes, and soup also add to the fulfilling meal. I also added a single order of "Ryukyu" (600 yen). It is a local dish from Oita Prefecture, consisting of slices of raw fish marinated in soy sauce, sake, and mirin. The Ryukyu on this day was yellowtail. I enjoyed it by placing it on the rice of the "Kama City specialty fried yellowtail cutlet set meal" to create a kind of "Ryukyu bowl". This would also be good as ochazuke. In addition to Ryukyu, it is also possible to order the main dishes of various set meals separately, making it a good option for drinking alcohol. I paid with PayPay. The Tangjin-cho shopping street where "KATARU" is located is a historic shopping street that faces the Karatsu Kaido, and in the Edo period, it was the site of the clan's western academy, Kantokan. However, it is not currently very lively. In this shopping street, there has been a shop called "Mandy" which is an antenna shop from the Amami region of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is a unique presence in this small shopping street away from the bustling area. Recently, the antenna shop for Saiki City in Oita Prefecture, "KATARU," has been added here. I imagined that if more unique antenna shops and local cuisine restaurants like this were gathered in such small, focused areas, the small shopping street would become quite distinctive and interesting. I hope that "KATARU," which opened as a second store, will continue to thrive and become a catalyst for the next one.

On a Sunday in January, I visited this restaurant in the Karasumori shopping street for the second time. We arrived around noon and there were already 4 customers. After we entered, more customers came in and it became full with about 8 people. This time, we sat at the counter seat. It was spacious and relaxing! I wanted to enjoy some drinks while reading a book here for 1000 yen. Unfortunately, on this day, the fried horse mackerel and mackerel were sold out. I ordered the simmered yellowtail collar set meal for 900 yen. The yellowtail collar was big and delicious, not too fatty or bland. The seasoning was good. The fried horse mackerel as a single item was also plump and tasty. It came with plenty of cabbage, so I was satisfied. The only downside was that the rice was a bit hard. My wife ordered the fried mackerel set meal for 850 yen. The fried mackerel was simply delicious. For some reason, the small side dish of eggplant was very tough. The soup that came with it was called "gomadashi," a local specialty from Saiki, Oita. It is made by grilling white fish, mixing it with sesame, mirin, sugar, and adding soy sauce to create a versatile broth. I preferred miso soup instead. Overall, the main dishes were solid, but I think they could improve by paying more attention to the side dishes. We will visit again for the next training session! They accept PayPay payments. Thank you for the meal!!

[First Visit] I used to live in Chinatown for about 20 years until about 4 years ago. I still attend training sessions at Fukufuku Plaza once every 1-2 months, usually on Sundays. It has become a tradition to have lunch in Chinatown during these training sessions. There aren't many options, but I often opt for the cheap set meals at "Oshokuji Land Chinatown Store" to quickly satisfy my hunger. The beef yakiniku set meal used to be around 600 yen, but now it's 700 yen. The taste is a bit strong, though... On this particular Sunday, I had some extra time, so I decided to explore the shopping street a bit and stumbled upon this new restaurant. It used to be a cosmetics store, and it seemed like it had just opened. The menu consisted mainly of fried fish dishes at prices below 1,000 yen. Intrigued, I decided to give it a try without hesitation. The restaurant had a stylish interior that didn't look like a typical set meal place. They also had a fairly large area for selling dried fish, frozen goods, seasonings, and more. It was just before noon, and there were about 7 customers already seated, with only a large 6-person table available. We were seated at a corner of that table for 2 people. The menu included options like horse mackerel fry, mackerel fry, yellowtail cutlet, grilled yellowtail with salt, chicken karaage, salted mackerel, and sweet and sour horse mackerel, making it a tough choice! - Horse Mackerel Fry Set Meal 850 yen (with an additional yellowtail fry for 300 yen) - Yellowtail Cutlet Set Meal 800 yen (for my wife) - Non-alcoholic beer 400 yen * There were also various a la carte options, and the ability to add additional fry pieces was a nice feature. All the fried dishes tasted delicious, with the fish feeling fresh. The oil used also seemed clean. My wife, who had the yellowtail cutlet, was satisfied with both the quantity and quality. They also offered a "light drinking" option, where you could get a drink and 3 appetizers for 1,000 yen! The counter seats (which could fit about 6 people) looked cozy, and there was already a man enjoying a light drink. I couldn't help but think that if this restaurant had been around when I lived here, I would have visited quite often. As I returned to work in the afternoon, I paid with PayPay, totaling 2,350 yen. Thank you for the meal!!!

There is a set meal restaurant in Chinatown. It seems like there aren't many of them around. They have a variety of fish set meals. I ordered the yellowtail collar set meal. They offer unlimited rice. The yellowtail is well seasoned and very delicious. There are side dishes too, so it's nutritionally balanced. Dessert is complimentary! I was happy to receive a pudding. Since there are few cafes in Chinatown, this place is recommended for taking a breather!

The set meals are just right! They cost around 800 yen. There are several options with seafood from Oita as the main dish. I like the taste of the green miso soup. This was my fourth visit.

There are few places in Chinatown where you can eat set meals, so I am happy. The grilled mackerel set meal has a strong and delicious flavor. The balance is good, and I am very satisfied after finishing the meal. I want to come back again!
