Located in the basement of a building in Sonezaki Ogoto Tenjin Shotengai, this yakiniku restaurant is often featured on TV. Despite my curiosity, I hadn't had the chance to visit until now. The interior has a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere, with counter seats and table seats available. This time, I sat at the counter. Orders are taken only once, with no option for additional orders. I ordered the Satay Barbecue Teppan Moriawase Rice. The Satay Barbecue had a rich, sweet seasoning and was cooked slowly to avoid burning, resulting in tender, moist meat that paired well with alcohol. The Teppan was generously coated in sauce and cooked slowly for about 15 minutes until the surface was crispy. It had a nice chewiness and a strong meaty flavor that went perfectly with rice. The friendly proprietress and staff created a lovely atmosphere. Thank you for the delicious meal.

A popular restaurant where customers often place orders. It seems like it's busy, so it's somewhat understandable, but it would be nice if they were more polite. It doesn't make sense to refuse additional orders when it's not that crowded. The taste is decent but not exceptionally delicious. The prices are high for the taste. If you like Showa retro vibes, it might be worth a visit based on word of mouth. You might be better off going to restaurants in Nishinari or Taisho. I won't be going back again.

Photography inside the store is prohibited. I had a highball drink. The salted tongue was delicious. The raw tripe had a lot of vinegar flavor. The raw tongue was cut into small pieces for a unique texture. The fresh liver was lightly grilled. The top harami was thickly cut. The tsurami was delicious. The teppanyaki was tasty. I was able to walk in on a Sunday. By the way, the toilet is a Japanese-style toilet.

After the Showa era song "Yan Yan", I decided to visit a restaurant to maintain the Showa vibe. I was surprised to find a mysterious underground mall in a shady building! The interior of the restaurant was nostalgically Showa-style. The menu was only displayed on small strips of paper on the wall! I ordered the famous "te-chan", salted tongue, "tsurami", "harami", and top mino. There was a specific order to eat the meat, starting with te-chan followed by salted tongue, which was the opposite of the usual order. The te-chan was indeed delicious. The other meats arrived soaked in a generous amount of sauce! I enjoyed them dipped in the unique sauce. I also ordered rice to eat with the meat. The rice was freshly cooked, adding to the happiness. The salted tongue at the end was a delight. The restaurant seemed to be popular on TV shows, as there were many autographed boards from celebrities. Although there was a sign prohibiting photography inside, I assumed it was due to the abundance of celebrity autographs. I have only uploaded photos of the food, excluding any issues with the restaurant. The current rating on Tabelog is 3.44.

Nowadays, it is rare to find a smoky, aromatic yakiniku restaurant. The friendly staff guided me to the counter where the menu was limited, and I was advised to order more meat as I could only do so once. They only served large bottled beers for 830 yen. I was intrigued by phrases like "a taste found only here in the world" and "you must try it when you come here," so I started with horumon (offal). I also ordered tsurami (beef cheek), harami (skirt steak), kokoro (beef heart), and tan (beef tongue). When I asked if the quantity was too much for two people, the staff suggested I have horumon and tan as single servings, which turned out to be a good call. The order of serving the meat was a bit unusual, starting with horumon and ending with tan after changing the grill. The overall portion of meat was generous, but the quality did not seem exceptional. The tsurami was thinly sliced and flat, which was not to my liking. The horumon was decent but not outstanding. The tan had an overpowering black pepper flavor, masking the taste of the beef tongue. The kokoro, however, was large, chewy, and delicious. The choice of dipping sauce may vary among individuals. For the same price, there are other yakiniku restaurants with better value and taste. This place seems more about the atmosphere than the food quality.

Yakiniku Kawataro @ Oohatsu Tenjin
Received a dinner invitation from a friend and ended up choosing to have yakiniku, after much deliberation. It had been over 10 years since my last visit to this place, but the exterior and interior still exuded a sense of long-standing history.
Arriving at 7 pm with no other customers present, I ordered Kawataro's recommended specialty dish, "te-chan," along with today's complimentary assorted meat platter and harami kimchi. The staff mentioned that additional orders might not be possible once they get busy, so they kindly instructed me on how to cook the meat properly.
Te-chan was delicious, as well as the harami. I opted for a large bottle of beer, as the drink prices were a bit on the higher side. By the time I left, the restaurant was almost full, indicating that many people come here seeking the taste of this longstanding establishment.

Long time no see, this is Yamada Tachiuo! I think there are various delicious things about yakiniku. The refined deliciousness and the deliciousness that goes well with beer. The yakiniku restaurant I went to this time really goes well with beer and makes you want to eat rice! One thing I definitely recommend trying is the "Tecchan." You roll the meat around for about 15 minutes and it's so delicious! Definitely try it! (#^^#)

In the Umeda area, when it comes to the most Osaka-like restaurant, for me it's Horumon Kappa! It's located in a building underground in the middle of Higashi Umeda/Oohatsu Tenjin, which can be a bit hard to find at first. But there are always many customers, so you can spot it easily. Their specialty horumon and kalbi grilled with sauce in a traditional style gives you a nostalgic Showa era vibe. The atmosphere of the restaurant makes you feel like you've traveled back in time. The owner passed away a while ago, but the proprietress is still there, so I recommend visiting while she's still around. Just a heads up, they are a bit strict, so don't cross your legs while eating, or you might get scolded, haha. The cost performance is a bit lower due to the area becoming more touristy, which is a bit sad. However, it's still worth a visit at least once.

Kappa-san Ohatsu Tenjin Shotengai is located after entering the shopping street and going down the stairs. It was my first time visiting, but it was delicious! However, they don't have highballs! (laughs) They have beer and makgeolli though (laughs). The smell was also nice and not unpleasant (laughs). The quality of the meat and the seasoning were both incredibly delicious. I want to go back again. Thank you for the meal. Parking is available at a nearby parking lot.

This shop is full of Showa era vibes. You start by ordering at your mother's pace, beginning with drinks. Beer is only available in bottles. You are usually only allowed to place one order, so you have to order everything at once at your mother's pace. We ordered items like beef tongue, skirt steak, beef tripe, premium tongue, raw intestine, grilled liver, kimchi, and teppanyaki. The teppanyaki was served first, even though we wanted the tongue first. The seasoning was heavy but not bad, it might become addictive for some. We also ordered oxtail soup and simmered beef tendon. It's a good place to relax and enjoy your meal slowly. The bill was a bit higher than expected, around 23,000 yen.

I had the opportunity to visit a yakiniku restaurant called "Kappa" that I was familiar with but had never been to before. The restaurant is located underground and has a retro atmosphere with lots of autographs from famous people on the walls, giving it a Showa era vibe. It was a bit nostalgic to have my first yakiniku experience in the Reiwa era at this place. When I arrived around 6 pm on a weekday, the restaurant was empty. The staff seemed surprised when I told them it was my first time there. They asked us to order all our dishes at once as it might be difficult to add more later. We, three men, decided to order two servings each of various items like teppanyaki, Osaka-style hormone, and yakiniku cuts like heart, tripe, harami, loin, salted tongue, and raw intestine. Beer was only available in large bottles. The dishes arrived promptly, and the staff provided instructions on how to cook each item. They recommended saving the tongue for last to optimize the grill's efficiency. We had a mix of experiences with the dishes, with the teppanyaki being unique in flavor, the Osaka-style hormone delicious, and the yakiniku cuts being decent. We left the restaurant before 8 pm, and by then, the place had more empty seats. Overall, it was an interesting restaurant with a quirky atmosphere, making it a fun place to take out-of-town guests.

Recommended by comedian Kendō Kobayashi, Yakiniku Kappa is a popular yakiniku restaurant located on Ohatsu Tenjin Street in Umeda, Osaka. Many other celebrities have also visited this restaurant. The atmosphere inside is smokey but has a nice vibe. During busy times, orders are taken all at once. The meat is served with a miso-like sauce that is perfect when eaten with plenty of sauce and rice. The thinly sliced meat that goes well with rice was delicious. The raw intestine also has a unique seasoning, and the horumon (offal) is an original dish of Kappa, so be sure to try it out! If you ever find yourself in Umeda, make sure to check out this place! -------------------------------【Yakiniku Kappa】Rating: 3.56Business hours: 16:00-23:00, Sun & holidays -21:00Closed: 1st & 3rd Sundays

Met up with friends in May 2019 and we ended up standing the whole time, eager to sit down. They took me to this underground yakiniku restaurant with a nostalgic Showa era atmosphere, which is unique to Osaka. The harami, mino, and teppanyaki were delicious as expected. The restaurant had a casual vibe but was a bit on the pricey side. It's not a big place and the smoke from the grill can get a bit thick since they don't have a smokeless roaster. I found out that taking photos of the food is not allowed, so I stopped. There are some local rules at this restaurant, but it seems to be popular. The service was a bit assertive, but overall, it was an okay experience.

I visited the restaurant because it had a strong aura next to Tiger Lily. There were a lot of local rules, and following the recommended way of eating was the most delicious. It was delicious, especially the premium Harami.

On the second day in Osaka, I was taken to a deep yakiniku restaurant. Similar to Stamina En, you have to decide on the amount to order all at once because you can't add more later. Also, you have to cook it the way the staff tells you, or they'll get mad (lol). For the specialty hormone dishes like intestines, they cook it first and then replace the dirty grill. I was surprised by the large tail soup for the finale (lol). But we ate to our heart's content with 6 people. We thoroughly enjoyed the deep side of Osaka and left very satisfied. The price is not cheap, but the satisfaction level is high.

Unfortunately, it was disappointing. Good points: The meat was relatively fresh. The restaurant was spacious and clean, not greasy. Bad points: 1. The restaurant was all about the business. 2. The sauce didn't suit my taste. 1. In a nearly empty restaurant, I was told, "You can't order more. Please order more at the beginning," without knowing the portion sizes. Understandable for a popular restaurant with a limited menu, but... And the seemingly regular customers who came later were able to order more multiple times. Don't they want to change the grill? The salted tongue was served last. It was very salty, maybe because it was served after everything else was eaten. 2. It's tough when the sauce doesn't suit your taste. The meat was good, so I wanted to eat it with just salt. The mysterious creamy and bland sauce. Especially since the prices were not cheap, there was no joy in choosing, leaving me dissatisfied... It was a disappointing barbecue experience. I wonder if they can survive by focusing on the business aspect just because they are a famous restaurant? I wish I had spent this money at another barbecue place.

Tecchan's meat is juicy and the sauce seasoning is perfect and delicious. The other dishes are somewhat average, with a preference for a slightly stronger seasoning. The quality of the meat is decent. It's a bit disappointing that the prices are high and you can't make additional orders. Overall, the atmosphere is taken into consideration for this review.

I visited Kappa-san, a famous restaurant on Ohatsu Tenjin Street for the first time. Since adding extra meat was not allowed, I asked the staff for recommendations and portion sizes when placing my order. They kindly explained the timing for eating each type of meat. The specialty dish, Satay BBQ, was delicious.
