This is a shop where you can find things like this in Fukuoka! Limited to one group per day (reservation required)! A hunter personally hunts game (wild boar, deer, duck, pheasant) and cooks it for you to enjoy! Located in a hunter's handmade hunter's hut style house. The location is on the mountainside of Higashi Aburayama in Jyonan-ku, Fukuoka City. It's in a residential area, but the entrance and exterior are understated, so our group actually passed by it once. You can park your car in front of the shop (limited to 1-2 cars). Inside the shop, it has the look of an old folk house or folk art style. The owner is behind the counter. Despite being a hunter, he is not the silent, rough hunter type, but rather a talkative and humorous old man. Firewood is stacked under the counter. As a traveler, it feels like taking a break in a hunter's hut. There are table seats around the Daruma stove. In winter, it would be nice to gather around and enjoy some drinks together. The interior is decorated with typical hunter's hut items like wild boar fur rugs, deer skulls, and traps (no longer used due to hunting with guns only). We chose the grilled meat course for wild boar from the various boar dishes, priced at 4,000 yen. There are also options for hot pot courses and sukiyaki courses. In addition to wild boar, they also offer duck hot pot, deer steak, and snapping turtle hot pot courses. It truly is a specialty game cuisine restaurant in Fukuoka. They also have various a la carte dishes available (reservation required). We toasted with the hunter owner and started with the wild boar leg meat steamed in a rabbit-style sauce. Then, we started grilling the wild boar meat! It looked like a peony pot, beautifully arranged. Oh, but it's quite fatty... As I've aged, I've started to prefer lean meat over fatty meat, and suddenly I was faced with a meat cut with quite a bit of fat! Well, let's just grill it on the iron plate! I was wearing short sleeves at the time, so the oil splattered and it was hot on my arm. It's best to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and with long sleeves. Let's try it... Bite! Chewy texture! Juicy fatty meat! Delicious!! Unlike the freshly hunted wild boar I had in the countryside long ago, or the uniquely fragrant Iberico pork, this wild boar meat had no distinct taste in both lean and fatty parts, with a light flavor yet juicy. It had a transparent appearance, with a sweet and savory fat that was very delicious, and I probably ate the most meat among our group. I happily became the "disposer" for the remaining meat, saying "Are you not going to eat this? I'll eat it then." The meat was served with sauce and salt, but just a little salt was enough to bring out the delicious flavor. I think it would be a waste to cook this meat in a hot pot. However, I definitely want to try the peony pot or duck hot pot in winter. Initially visited as a hidden gem, but now it's a definite repeat visit! Midway through the grilled meat, they served spare ribs (short ribs). That's what they call spare ribs, right? I would like to try the peony pot or duck hot pot in winter. Initially visited as a hidden gem, but now it's a definite repeat visit!
