G‐G-MOMOCHI
Located on the first floor of a building opposite Kyushu University Hospital along the Chiyoda, formerly known as the "Karatsu Kaido" in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, this udon restaurant is run by the head chef who trained at the popular udon restaurant "Daimaru Udon" in Tamura, Sawara-ku, and learned the art of making udon at the renowned "Tempura Udon" in Imakawa, Chuo-ku. Since its establishment in 2013, the restaurant has been bustling with energy, serving a delicious broth made from kelp as a base and homemade noodles that strike a perfect balance between smoothness and firmness. Just like at "Tempura Udon," their signature dish is the "Tempura Udon," and they offer free extra-large portions of udon and all-you-can-eat homemade kimchi at a low price, making it a popular spot among locals, university staff, and government employees in the area. Popular menu items include the classic "Gobo Tempura Udon" and "Niku Udon," as well as the "Yasai Tempura Udon" and the unique "Renkon Tempura Udon." The recommended dish from the chef is the "Niku Gobo Udon." Additionally, starting at 1:00 PM after the lunch rush, they offer set meals ranging from 500 to 700 yen, which include udon and rice along with main dishes like tonkatsu, ginger pork, fried horse mackerel, fried chicken, croquettes, and white fish fry, all of which are delicious, affordable, and generous in portion size. Despite being an udon restaurant, customers can also switch the noodles to soba for the same price, with an additional 50 yen charge for extra-large portions of soba.
