I have been looking for non-greasy dining options lately, and I remembered how light and easy to eat the pho was when I had it in Vietnam. So, I decided to visit Bia Hoi, which is conveniently located near the station and offers a wide variety of menu options. This time, I ordered the pho with five types of meat and boiled pork rice set. The pho had beef shin, beef tendon, beef shabu-shabu, beef meatballs, and Vietnamese ham, each in small portions. The main highlight was the beef broth, which was rich and flavorful. The pho noodles were not chewy as some reviews had mentioned, but more like udon noodles, which made it easy to eat. The table had various condiments like nuoc mam for flavoring, but the broth was already delicious on its own. The broth was stronger than what you would find in Vietnam, but it might suit Japanese taste preferences. I also ordered the che & drink buffet, which had increased in price to 500 yen on weekends and holidays. Despite the price hike, I always order it because of the variety of drinks and ingredients available. The che had fruits, mung beans, red beans, and agar agar, which could be enjoyed with almond sauce or coconut milk. It would have been better if there were syrups, but you could still enjoy different flavors. It was the first day of a long weekend, so I arrived 10 minutes before opening and found four groups already waiting. The place was almost full when it opened, with mostly female customers. The restaurant is quite spacious, so you can usually find a seat, but you need to order early to avoid a long wait. I was served within 5 minutes of being seated, but it could take around 20 minutes if you are slow. Overall, I had a great experience and will probably visit again in the future.
