In a restaurant on the streets of Dotonbori, I decided to try something different from the usual curry and went for South Indian cuisine. I was recommended some dishes that were all delicious: KingFisher beer, Dosa (a South Indian crepe filled with potato masala), Rasam (a tangy tomato-based soup), and Masala Chai (a rich milk tea).

Near Jingu Bridge, there is a second-floor Indian restaurant run by an Indian person serving Indian cuisine for Indians. They offer a special deal of 2 types of curry with rice for 1000 yen. The rice is basmati and you can choose the level of spiciness up to 10. I recommend selecting level 10 without hesitation. The curries available are Chicken Keema and a daily special with spinach and cheese. This is my second visit and I chose the same dishes as last time. The curries have a strong spice flavor, not tailored for Japanese taste, but the quality for this price is great. The basmati rice is microwaved, which is common, so I can overlook that. Overall, I am satisfied and will definitely come back for a third visit. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I was turned away by my first choice restaurant and ended up looking around Dotonbori area. I made eye contact with a staff member calling out to customers, and before I knew it, I was being led into the restaurant. I ordered the Standard Lunch [Butter Chicken] for 968 yen. One unique thing about this place is that the set comes with a Lassam Soup (a refreshing soup with spiciness and acidity) and a snack (papad) instead of a drink. The Lassam Soup was delicious and I think I might get hooked on it. Thank you for the meal. Despite it being a Monday, Dotonbori was bustling with activity. It seems like the area is regaining its former energy. I will continue on my journey with determination, and have no regrets in the end.

Anyway, there are so many types of chicken curry that it's hard to decide. You have to choose based on the spiciness and atmosphere. The staff are cheerful and fun, some may not speak much Japanese so it's important to speak slowly. They sometimes wear Indian clothing or hats, making the place a bit mischievous and enjoyable. I really love different cultures, and by experiencing them, I can reconfirm the good and bad of Japan. I've already been back to this delicious restaurant.

I went to the Indian restaurant "Mitila" in Dotonbori. The Indian man who always does the inviting looked lonely and caught my attention. The restaurant was on the second floor, which seemed intimidating to enter alone. I ordered the Rose Thali course for 2000 yen and a draft beer for 400 yen. The course seemed expensive, and the curry was bland and not tasty, with small portions. For this taste and portion size, 2000 yen is too much. Disappointing.

I hesitated to enter because it was on the second floor in Dotonbori, but I really wanted to eat there while visiting Kansai. I ordered a 1200 yen lunch and a mango lassi. I asked to change the naan to chapati. The mango lassi was delicious. The curry was chicken and mutton, and it was very tasty, just to my liking.

Second visit to Mitila. The first time was for lunch, and this time I went for dinner. They also offer a buffet style here. During lunch, the curry was also buffet style, so it's a great deal to be in Shinsaibashi. For the dinner I had with colleagues, we ordered a course. Interestingly, they first gave us each a plate, and then the staff directly put samosas, tandoori chicken, and naan on the plate for us. There were two types of curry. The salad was served on a large plate for us to share. I couldn't help but notice that one of the staff members, who seemed to be Indian, was wearing a Ryoma Sakamoto T-shirt. ^_^

Located a 5-7 minute walk from Namba Station, Mitila is a spice curry restaurant in the bustling tourist area of Dotonbori. This Indian cuisine specialty shop offers hearty lunches at reasonable prices. The shop is situated on the second floor, and surprisingly spacious, making it suitable for large groups as well. We ordered the popular hearty lunch set, which includes two types of Indian curry, naan, chicken tikka, samosa, and other side dishes, allowing us to enjoy a variety of Indian dishes. The curry had a nice sweetness that appealed to Japanese taste buds. Next time you're in the mood for Indian curry in Namba, be sure to visit Mitila. Bon appétit!

The building exuding a foreign atmosphere is right in the middle of Namba♪ I was torn between trying the Thai food and meeting the lively catch(?) person downstairs, but ended up deciding on Indian lunch♪ We went up together and they took our order right away... and then straight to the back of the kitchen... Wait, were they running the place alone? (※Later on, it seemed like more employees started appearing.) We ordered the ■Hearty Lunch■ for 1,200 yen, which came with three types of curry, naan, rice, and salad. The menu also mentioned a Mithila specialty with all-you-can-eat, but the Tandoori Chicken was limited to five pieces... which turned out to be quite filling. It seemed a bit pricier than the sign indicated, and I was a bit unsure about which items the menu was referring to... but it was still cheap!!! I went for the spiciest curry and got an extra serving of naan♪ The tangy flavor of the curry was just perfect♪ It had a refreshing acidity to it, which I really enjoyed♪ Lastly, with a drink included, I relaxed with a cup of chai. It's a satisfying meal. Thank you.

Today's lunch was at an Indian curry restaurant MITHILA in Namba, Osaka. I work in Osaka, but it's been a while since I ate near Dotonbori. The specialty here is the all-you-can-eat lunch set for 1,250 yen. The all-you-can-eat options include 3 types of curry (chicken, vegetable, bean), naan, rice, salad, and up to 5 pieces of tandoori chicken. There are also drink choices like mango lassi, cola, oolong tea, coffee, and chai. Can you guess which drink I chose? It's mango lassi. You fill your plate with curry at the counter and also get tandoori chicken and naan. The vegetable curry was my favorite, quite spicy and delicious. The tandoori chicken was tasty but a bit watery. After eating 2 naan, I was really full and satisfied. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of a building in Dotonbori.

An Indian restaurant located on the main street facing Dotonbori in Namba, Osaka. I was passing by the front of the restaurant when a staff member handed me a discount coupon, which led me to enter the restaurant out of curiosity. Instead of ordering a set menu, I decided to order individual items. Here are the dishes I ordered: 1. Salad (750 yen): A salad made of thinly sliced red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, and cabbage, topped with a spiced dressing and powdered spices. The spiciness was not overpowering, and the portion was generous. 2. Fish Tikka (1200 yen): Pieces of white fish marinated in spices and grilled, served with a side of sunny lettuce salad. The dish had a flavorful spice blend but was not too spicy. I believe the fish used was probably cod. 3. Naan (300 yen): A soft and chewy flatbread with minimal browning on the surface. The restaurant also offered other varieties like cheese and garlic naan. 4. Chana Masala (1200 yen): A curry dish made with spiced Indian beans. The initial spiciness was mild, but they provided a sauce for adjusting the heat level. The dish mainly consisted of minced Indian beans with a light and savory flavor. Additionally, we received complimentary papadum, thin crispy lentil chips, as a snack. The food and service were satisfactory, but what caught my attention the most was the menu pricing. Almost all dishes were priced in round numbers, such as 300 yen or 600 yen, which made me wonder if the pricing was a bit arbitrary (or bold?). It's worth noting that there aren't many Indian restaurants in Dotonbori, unlike the abundance of Thai restaurants in the area.

I went to an Indian restaurant near Namba's Nanpabashi, and there is a Thai restaurant called Kuntep downstairs. I knew about its existence for a while but never felt like going in until now. When I entered, it was before noon, so there were no customers. I ordered a set of two curries. The Indian staff couldn't speak Japanese, so I was a bit confused about the system, but I had to go get the curry myself. It was a kind of buffet style. The photo is of a bean curry, which was creamy and rich in flavor. It was okay in terms of taste. The other curry was a vegetable curry, which I enjoyed more than the bean curry. The naan was average, and I ended up leaving about a third of it. The lassi was quite rich and delicious. It was a pretty good lassi with a lot of volume, so it was satisfying to drink. It was supposed to be a buffet style where only those who chose the 1200 yen buffet set could have all-you-can-eat, but I didn't understand the system and ended up getting refills about three times. They seemed to overlook it due to my confusion, and I ended up eating a lot of curry. I also got some yellow rice, so I was really full. But overall, it was quite delicious, especially the yellow rice. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this restaurant for lunch for the first time. I ordered the "Mithila Lunch" for 880 yen, where you can choose two types of curry from keema, vegetables, and beans. The set also includes naan, salad, rice, and a drink. The price range of 800 to 900 yen for an Indian curry lunch set is quite standard, but the most important thing is the taste. As mentioned in other reviews, the curry was thin and lacked spices. I have tried Indian curry at various places, but the taste here was a bit disappointing.
