The place is located on the north side of Tennoji Park, in a surprising location! The atmospheric old house is said to be 100 years old. There was a line forming in front of the gate even before opening. Since we didn't have a reservation, we were seated on the second floor. The view of the garden from the window is nice. It really makes you feel like you're on a trip somewhere. The dishes we had were mainly vegetables! They were simple and delicious, like home-cooked dishes from a farm, and there were many varieties to enjoy. I wanted to add some fried chicken, but it was already sold out for those with reservations, which was disappointing. So, I think the portions might be a bit small for those who eat a lot. Next time, I'll make a reservation before going.

JR Tennoji Station is a 5-minute walk away. I arrived 20 minutes before opening and there were already 3 people waiting in the shade across the street, with 2 older ladies joining them later. 10 minutes before opening, they asked for my name and the number of people in my group, and we waited in front of the sunny side of the store. There were 2 people next to us, and the person at the front didn't say anything. It was mentioned that reservations were only accepted until the day before on weekdays, but I saw some people who seemed to have made reservations even though it was a Saturday. I ordered the "One Soup and Eight Dishes with Plenty of Vegetables - Farmer's Lunch" for 1,280 yen plus 110 yen for brown rice and corn mixed rice. I also had a small Ebisu draft beer for 300 yen. The meal included lotus root kinpira, Chinese cabbage with plum vinegar, corn tofu, cabbage and mushroom salad with oil dressing, truffle? fried eggplant, bean sprouts and pickled mustard greens with sesame oil, bitter melon and egg kenchin, pumpkin with minced chicken and sweet and sour sauce, and ginger-flavored minced chicken with miso soup. The miso soup was mild and flavorful with a gentle taste. It was delicious.

I have always wanted to go to Nainoan for dinner. The pride I feel when I see it standing on the Chausuyama in Tennoji, a 100-year-old traditional Japanese house with a well-maintained garden, made me think that it would be wonderful to come here at night. I planned to have dinner with my friends from college. Since we are close friends, we wouldn't be bothered by the pressure of dining in a traditional Japanese house. When I visited for lunch, I felt a bit lonely sitting away from the garden, so this time I specifically requested a table with a view of the garden. We decided to go for the 4000 yen per person course menu, with each person adding their choice of drinks. The meal started with a variety of vegetable dishes as an appetizer, which was a beautiful lineup that could easily be enjoyed as a side dish for drinks. Next, we had five kinds of sashimi, tempura, simmered pork and daikon, grilled chicken thigh with green onions, corn rice, and sherbet for dessert. The pace and quality of the dishes were slow and meticulous, especially the tempura was delicious. The dinner started at 5:30 pm and at first, it was too bright, but by the time we had dessert, we were able to enjoy the beautifully lit night garden. I'm glad we requested a table with a view of the garden. The staff were all very attentive, which I think is worth noting. I believe that foreigners should experience Japanese homes, flavors, and hospitality in a place like this. When you have the opportunity to make a reservation, I recommend enjoying a table with a view of the garden. Even though it wasn't crowded, we were able to spend time at our own pace and forgot about the time. Isn't it great to be able to forget about time in a traditional Japanese house? We tried various types of sake! Considering the content, I think it was quite reasonable. The course menu was 4000 yen plus around 5000 yen per person for drinks.

I found this restaurant seeking a meal that represents Kyoto. It's an obanzai-style izakaya that also serves lunch during the day. The atmosphere made me think it was a high-end restaurant, but they offer a lunch menu for 1,280 yen limited to 50 servings, which is very reasonable. The location is right next to a temple, and with its appearance, I imagine it's frequented by customers attending ceremonies. It's a bit odd that it's located in the middle of a love hotel district. The one soup and eight dishes lunch has a vegetarian image with hardly any meat, and plenty of vegetables. The zucchini minced meat curry-flavored dish is delicious even when poured over rice. You can also change to mixed rice for an additional 110 yen. The value of dining in this space while looking at the summer sunlight and a splendid garden is quite something. The staff, although all young, provided polite service. Note that last order is at 1 pm, so be cautious when visiting for lunch.

It was a regular day but there were a lot of customers. It was a good decision to make a reservation and go. It's a bit hidden... is this the right place? It's located in a beautiful old Japanese house. I ordered the one soup and eight side dishes set meal. There were many cute small dishes with various vegetables to enjoy. I'm very curious about the evening menu as well. They had a wide variety of sake options.

I headed towards the love hotel from Tenjinbashisuji and came across a shop I had never noticed before, despite being in the area many times. The entrance felt like I was stepping into a traditional inn, with a stark contrast to the outside atmosphere. I ordered the Sake Banquet Course (4,000 yen). The meal started with a platter of 6 types of vegetables from the field, which was greatly appreciated as I don't usually eat a variety of vegetable dishes. It was delightful to enjoy delicious and healthy food. The sashimi platter, assorted vegetable tempura, vegetable and pork stew, and the grilled thigh of Tajima chicken were all delicious. With rice and dessert included, all for 4,000 yen, it was a great value and a popular spot for women. Looking at the menu on the table, I noticed many of my favorite dishes, so I look forward to trying them next time. It's a place I want to visit regularly for my vegetable intake.

The dishes included: - Six varieties of vegetable side dishes - Assorted sashimi - Tempura made with selected vegetables - A dish with deeply flavored daikon and pork - Grilled vegetables and local chicken - Rice with miso soup and pickles, along with corn-infused rice - Yuzu sherbet and orange for dessert - Roasted ginkgo nuts (additional order) The hospitality from the moment we entered until we left was truly heartwarming. I was surprised to find such an old Japanese house in the urban area of Tennoji! And right in front of this shop is a love hotel district... quite a surprising location! If it wasn't for the love hotel district, it would be even better haha. But the contrast is also nice! The food is made with carefully selected vegetables and the presentation is cute. Drinking sake in such a historic place in Tennoji is a must-try. Perfect for a date! And who knows what else after that haha.

I was taken to a restaurant that my senior colleague had been interested in. I was surprised to find such a nice atmosphere in a corner of the hotel district in Tennoji. I guess you have to choose who to go with, given the location (laughs), but the old Japanese house atmosphere was nice. We were seated near the entrance, so it was a bit cold, so it might be better to go when the weather is nice. On Fridays, it's crowded, so you can't just reserve a seat, so we had reserved a 3000 yen course. We started with a cold sake called "Minami." It was refreshing and dry, very delicious. The appetizer included 6 types of vegetable side dishes, sashimi, tempura, rice, and red miso soup. The vegetable appetizer had a gentle taste and was delicious. The sashimi was fresh with 5 varieties (I ate it all before taking a picture). The tempura was all vegetables, but it was filling. We had it with tempura dipping sauce and yukari salt. We also ordered fried figs and beef tataki. The fried figs were sweet and served as a side dish, a new taste for me. The beef tataki was seared right in front of us, and I asked for it to be well-done. I'm at the age where I want to eat meat. Finally, we had yuzu sake and corn rice with red miso soup. They have a variety of drinks like sake, wine, and sour, and there seems to be an all-you-can-drink option. All the dishes were delicious, but the course might be too much for those with a small appetite. There were many dishes, so I want to go back on a weekday and try various single items. I walked from "Tenshiba" and almost gave in to the temptation of the run-down love hotel district, but finally arrived at "Sakananonoan," a renovated 100-year-old traditional Japanese house. The restaurant had a serene atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There were already several groups waiting outside, but I had made a reservation in advance so I felt relieved. Inside, the restaurant was like a traditional Japanese house with different seating areas on the first and second floors. I had requested a counter seat with a view of the inner garden when I made the reservation. There were two lunch menu options available: "One soup, eight dishes farmer's lunch" (limited to 50 servings) and "Sakananonoan special lunch." The drink menu was also extensive. I opted for the farmer's lunch and added white rice for an extra 110 yen, changing it to "rice cooked with 23 grains and corn." I also added a small draft beer (Ebisu) for 300 yen. Enjoying a draft beer with the farmer's lunch was pure bliss. The farmer's lunch consisted of various dishes like winter melon and beef tendon soup, burdock root stir-fry, Chinese cabbage with plum vinegar dressing, potato salad, rice cooked with 23 grains and corn, and more. Each dish highlighted the natural flavors of the vegetables and was a healthy and satisfying meal. The winter melon and beef tendon soup was particularly delicious, with the flavors of the tender winter melon and beef melding together perfectly. Overall, the lunch was a delightful experience, with each dish showcasing the essence of the vegetables and the soothing broth. It was a healthy and detoxifying meal that surely pleased the body. The restaurant has a lovely garden and the interior has a traditional Japanese atmosphere. When I was invited into the tatami room, I felt a warm, grandmotherly vibe. I ordered: - Namafu Agedashi: A light, adult-flavored dish with colorful fresh namafu (wheat gluten) soaking in a delicious broth. - Tai (sea bream) and Vegetable Tempura: Frying brought out the sweetness of the vegetables, and the batter was just right. - Gyusuji Daikon: The star of the day, a perfectly executed dish with tender beef tendons and daikon radish. - Chicken Karaage: More like a chicken tempura than karaage, but still quite tasty. I had lunch at Nonoan, a restaurant in a 100-year-old traditional house in Tennoji. It's located in a hidden spot in the love hotel district, making it a true hidden gem. As soon as you pass through the gate, you enter a different world. The tatami room with a view of the inner garden is reminiscent of the Taisho era. The dishes were plentiful and delicious, ranging from tempura to fruits, all at a reasonable price. Reservations are a must. The cherry blossoms near Chausuyama were beautiful, with many people enjoying hanami with their picnic blankets laid out. Abeno Harukas looked very impressive from there.

Despite the loss of charm in the surrounding area over the past 100 years, this century-old traditional house stands tall, carrying the weight of history. When I arrived at 11:30, I hoped to secure a seat in my favorite spot (either in the "菜" or "乃" room with a view of the garden), but those seats were already reserved. I settled for a quieter seat in the "庵" room facing east, with sunlight filtering through the trees, glass doors, and wooden windows. A fellow diner remarked that it felt like dining in a large grandma's house, and I couldn't agree more. I opted for the "One Soup, Eight Dishes - Farm Vegetable Lunch" priced at 1100 yen. The main dish was simmered daikon radish with minced meat sauce, accompanied by various small side dishes made from typical farm vegetables like Chinese cabbage, radish, cabbage, spinach, mustard greens, bean sprouts, etc. The flavors were gentle and subtle, with a good balance of vinegar-based dishes and stir-fried items. The simmered daikon radish was exceptionally tender and delicious. The rice was also cooked to perfection. While the portion sizes were not large, you can request extra rice or add a dessert to adjust the meal to your liking. Overall, the experience at this unique location of Tennoji Tea Mill Mountain, with its large old house and well-maintained garden, along with the attentive staff, makes me want to root for this establishment to continue thriving. I would love to come back for the evening "Chef's Special Set" and enjoy some local sake while admiring the garden view. I can't wait to visit again in the evening!

I saw this restaurant on SNS and it caught my interest, so I made a reservation and visited. The counter seats where I was guided faced the garden, where I could see maple trees and goldfish swimming in the pond. It must be even more beautiful when the autumn leaves change color. I had the one soup and eight side dishes lunch set, and for an additional 100 yen, you can change the rice to takikomi gohan. The food was served about 5 minutes after ordering, which was surprisingly fast! Each vegetable was delicately seasoned and very delicious. However, as I could tell from the photos, the meal consisted only of healthy vegetables, so the portion size was not very filling. If you want a more satisfying meal, you may need to add additional items like tempura or fried chicken. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!
