Located in the area of 3-1-16 Otemon, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, just a 6-minute walk from the subway station "Ohori Park", this restaurant opened in October 2018! It is an izakaya with a "live squid tank" that serves creative "Hakata cuisine" mainly using ingredients from Kyushu's Hakata region. The exterior is a standalone house, while the interior features a sunken kotatsu counter seat, table seats, and a Japanese-style atmosphere that feels casual. The handwritten menu offers a variety of popular recommended dishes such as "medium fatty tuna sashimi," "live mackerel," "grilled squid dumplings," "tomato and beef belly deep-fried dish," "meat and burdock spring rolls," "cream cheese miso grilled dish," with a finishing touch of "garlic rice" and "clam soup," along with Japanese sake "Tanaka 65," and more. The sashimi was fresh, especially the "live mackerel" was in excellent condition and highly recommended even for those who are not fond of mackerel. The medium fatty tuna sashimi had a slight drip but was delicious, allowing you to enjoy the richness of the tuna. Particularly delicious creative dishes included the "tomato and beef belly deep-fried dish" and "meat and burdock spring rolls," which are dishes loved by people of all ages. The highlight of the pairing with Japanese sake "Tanaka 65" was the "cream cheese miso grilled dish," which is a must-have item for sake lovers. The only dish that fell short was the "grilled squid dumplings," as it lacked a bit of squid flavor and could use some adjustments in texture for a better eating experience. The finishing "garlic rice" and "clam soup" were both excellent! A place where you can enjoy delicious and unique creative dishes. I would definitely like to visit this izakaya again on another occasion. Thank you for the meal. Enjoy Gourmet Life☆

Today's lunch was in the mood for a set meal, so I visited this place for the first time in two months! They have daily specials and the menu is not fixed, so I come here quite often. What I really like is that they serve chawanmushi with the meal! The restaurant has a counter, tables, and even a second floor, so it's spacious! This time, I decided to try the daily special menu...◾️Daily Special: Spare Ribs in Red Wine Sauce (950 yen) Today's menu is more Western than izakaya-style...lol After waiting for about 10 minutes, the set meal arrived at the counter! Today's side dish is potato salad! The spare ribs, with bones, were cooked until tender in a red wine sauce! The sauce, rich in flavor from the red wine, is delicious! It has a depth of flavor and a slight acidity, which makes me even more hungry! They can do both Japanese and Western dishes here... The chawanmushi, which is always delicious, helped me relax and feel satisfied after finishing the meal with a full stomach! It was so delicious... I wonder what the next daily special will be? I'll definitely come back! Thank you for the meal!

I found this place by chance and tried the sashimi of kawahagi (thread-sail filefish) which was absolutely delicious! The liver was large and the deep-fried bones were perfectly crispy. If you can enjoy this for more than 30% cheaper than in Nakasu, then I will definitely be coming back! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I revisited the restaurant for lunch less than a month after my last visit! They have regular menu items, but also daily specials, so it's a place I enjoy going to multiple times. The interior has counter seating, tables, and even a second floor seating area. After looking at the menu, I decided to go with the daily special again: - Daily Special Set Meal (950 yen) Today's main dish was "Beef Belly with Grated Radish and Ponzu Sauce"! It arrived at the counter in less than 10 minutes. This time, the side dish was potato salad with bacon... delicious! And the fact that it comes with chawanmushi is a huge plus for me! Now, let's dig into the main dish! Thinly sliced beef belly with a refreshing ponzu sauce and grated radish. It's a light and tasty flavor that would be perfect for when you're feeling a bit sluggish, even though it's not quite summer yet. I couldn't help but eat all the rice, wishing I had gotten a large portion... but I managed to resist. Once again, I left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied! Thank you for the meal!

Today I had lunch near Ohori Park! I was in the mood for a set meal, so I came here! It's been about a month since my last visit... Lately, I've been coming here more often! Maybe my body is craving healthier options instead of noodles? The restaurant has counter seats, tatami seating, and even a second floor, so it's quite spacious! Today, I decided to go with the daily special set meal as usual... Daily Special Set Meal: Moon-viewing Tsukune and Simmered Young Chicken (950 yen) I never get tired of coming here because of the daily specials! The food was served promptly after about 10 minutes of waiting. The tsukune, about the size of a small hamburger, with a beautiful egg yolk on top... The simmered young chicken, side dishes, and chawanmushi made for a generous spread! First, I tried the tsukune! It was refreshing and full of flavor, with a sweet and runny sauce that paired perfectly with the egg yolk! It was a great accompaniment to the rice... I wish I had a beer with this at night... haha The simmered young chicken was tender and moist, with a delicious broth-soaked daikon that was comforting... The spicy kick of the mustard added a nice touch! And as always, the chawanmushi was a highlight! I personally love chawanmushi, and this one was delicious too... With plenty of dishes and a satisfying meal, I left feeling full and happy! I wonder what the next daily special will be? I'll definitely visit again!

I visited the restaurant for lunch, and then revisited with my junior on the same night! It had been a while since I last visited for dinner, as I had been going for lunch a lot recently. The restaurant had a counter, tables, and a second floor, and was spacious. We looked at the menu and ordered the following dishes: - Appetizer - Potato salad - Beef and burdock spring rolls - Crab stick and cheese tempura - Grilled chicken tenderloin with grated ponzu sauce - Draft beer The must-have dish here is the beef and burdock spring rolls! While beef and burdock tempura is common, beef and burdock spring rolls might be rare. The sweet and savory seasoned beef, crispy burdock, and spring roll skin went perfectly together. I tried the grilled chicken tenderloin with grated ponzu sauce for the first time, and the tender chicken with refreshing grated ponzu sauce was a great match, especially with shochu. It had been a while since I used an izakaya, but it's still a great place. I will continue to visit in the future! Thank you for the meal!

Today's lunch was near Ohori Park! I felt like having a set meal here! The daily specials are varied so you won't get bored even if you come here often! The restaurant has counter seats, tatami seating, and even seats on the second floor, so it's spacious! Looking at the menu, I chose this from the two daily specials: - Daily Special Set Meal: Pork miso soup and sukiyaki croquette (950 yen) I debated between the beef with grated ponzu sauce and this, but since it's cold outside, I went with the miso soup... It seems they raised the price by 70 yen, oh well. The set meal arrived at my table in less than 10 minutes! Along with the main sukiyaki croquette, there were side dishes like potato salad, pickles, rice, and miso soup... which was actually pork miso soup due to a mistake by the staff! As always, having chawanmushi (savory egg custard) included is wonderful! First, I tried the main sukiyaki croquette! The crispy coating with plenty of beef inside, lightly sweet seasoning, and the chunky potato pieces make for a perfect combination! The potato pieces are roughly mashed, giving a chunky texture, and the addition of konnyaku (yam cake) adds a nice touch! The soy sauce-marinated egg yolk in the center does a great job... The pork miso soup is packed with vegetables like pork, daikon radish, carrot, burdock root, konnyaku, thick fried tofu, shimeji mushrooms... It's a healthy miso soup with plenty of ingredients! They have different daily specials each time, so I won't get tired of it... I'll definitely come back when I feel like having a set meal again! Thanks for the meal!

Today, I wandered around aimlessly like a lunch-hunting tribe, and came across a sign that read "Hakata cuisine". I wondered what kind of food Hakata cuisine offers, as there seemed to be a wide variety of seafood, meat, and fried dishes on the lunch menu. I decided to go in. As I entered, I noticed a fish tank on the right side with squid swimming around. The seafood looked fresh and appetizing. After some contemplation, I decided to order Chicken Nanban, as I hadn't had fried food in a while. From the outside, the restaurant seemed narrow, but there were tatami rooms at the back, indicating that it might be quite spacious. Even though it was already past 1 pm, about half of the seats were occupied and there were quite a few takeout customers, making the place very busy. There were 4 employees working at full speed, with a mountain of dishes piled up at the sink behind the counter. It was clearly a bustling lunch hour. Despite the chaos, the person who seemed to be the owner was cheerfully interacting with the staff, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The food was generous in portion size. I received four large pieces of crispy fried chicken, along with potato salad and chawanmushi, all for 880 yen. The Chicken Nanban was delicious with a crispy coating. The homemade potato salad was also tasty. I also watched as other customers ordered daily specials like teriyaki chicken, wine-braised spare ribs, and diced steak, all of which looked appetizing. I might come back to try the spare ribs next time. Overall, I found a great restaurant. Highly recommended.

Today at lunch, I unexpectedly ran into my senior outside and we decided to visit this place together! My senior was in the mood for the set meal here, so I tagged along. The restaurant requires you to take off your shoes before entering, and there are counter seats, tables, and even tatami seating at the back, with seating available on the second floor as well. After looking at the menu, we both decided to order the daily special: Domestic pork loin with shiso and cheese cutlet (880 yen). After a 10-minute wait, the daily special arrived at our table! The pork cutlet looked delicious and had a generous portion. The pork was tender, with plenty of shiso and cheese inside. The cheese seemed to be a cream cheese type, with a great flavor. The onion-based sauce complemented the rice perfectly, and the generous size of the cutlet made it a satisfying meal. What I like about the set meal here is that it comes with chawanmushi (savory egg custard) with chicken inside, which is full of flavor. You can also choose to have a large serving of rice, making it an attractive option for adjusting the portion size. Once again, I left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied! I can't help but keep coming back for lunch recently, so I plan to revisit for dinner sometime soon!

Today's lunch was at Ohori Park! In the mood for a set meal, I decided to check out this place! It's a perfect spot for having a set meal at Ohori Park! (I haven't been able to go to izakayas at night recently, so I want to go for drinks.) The restaurant has counter seats, tatami seating, and even seats on the second floor, so it's quite spacious! As I looked at the menu, once again my eyes were drawn to the daily specials... (There are two daily specials, so you won't get bored even if you come every day!) Today's special set meal was Beef Harami Steak Cubes (880 yen), but I was also very intrigued by the Pork Shank Stew. The food arrived at the counter in less than 10 minutes! The set meal came with side dishes, chawanmushi, rice, miso soup, and pickles! Personally, I love that chawanmushi is included in the set meal! Now, let's start with the main dish, the Beef Harami Steak Cubes! The tender yet chewy texture unique to harami, combined with the great flavor of harami and Japanese sauce, was a perfect match! The portion was a bit smaller than usual, probably due to the steak, but the satisfaction of the set meal was truly top-notch, as expected from Taemon's quality! By the way, today's side dish was simmered potatoes and bacon! The moist and flavorful potatoes soaked in a Japanese broth, with a hint of black pepper... The side dish was also delicious! I won't go into detail about the tasty chawanmushi this time since I always mention it... haha Once again, I left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied with a delicious lunch at Ohori Park! I will definitely revisit when I'm in the mood for a set meal at Ohori Park! Thank you for the meal!

Today's lunch was a sudden visit to this restaurant after 4 months! They offer a great value lunch with generous portions, and it's a place I really like. I arrived at 12 pm and just 10 minutes later, the place was fully packed - such a bustling atmosphere! The interior has counter seats, tables at the back, and even a second floor, surprisingly spacious! This time, I took a seat at the counter. Looking at the menu... I felt like trying the daily special today, so I chose that! Today's special: Pork and Chinese cabbage stir-fry (880 yen) Just from the name, it seemed like a great dish that would go well with rice... Watching the owner's efficient work from the counter, in just 10 minutes, the main dish arrived - pork, Chinese cabbage, and egg stir-fry! The aroma of the Chinese cabbage was enticing, stimulating my appetite! As I dug in, the flavor of the Chinese cabbage with a hint of sourness was a great accent! Combined with the pork and egg, which absorbed all the delicious flavors, it was so tasty! It went perfectly with rice, and I couldn't stop eating. One of the reasons I love this lunch spot is because they always serve chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard) on the side! It's so delicious, with chicken instead of seafood, packed with flavor! Besides the main dish, the sides are also substantial, making it a great deal! Once again, a satisfying lunch with generous portions - I'm very happy! The variety of daily specials keeps things interesting... Thanks for the meal!

Today's lunch was like a set meal... I revisited this place after 2 months! The deciding factor was that the daily special was pork miso soup! I want to warm up... haha. The interior of the restaurant has counter seating, tables, and tatami seating, and it's spacious! I already know what I want from the menu, so I ordered this! Today's daily special set meal B (830 yen) with pork miso soup and ginger pork set... It's a great meal with lots of pork! haha. The set meal arrived at the counter in less than 10 minutes! Oh?! The pork in the ginger pork dish is thickly sliced... The side dishes like egg salad, chawanmushi, and pickles are luxurious! Personally, I'm really happy that chawanmushi is included! First, the ginger pork! The pork is tender and has a satisfying texture! The ginger sauce is well-coated and goes well with the rice! The thick cut of pork is also good... like a steak! The crunchy texture of the onions is a nice accent! Next is the pork miso soup! It has large chunks of vegetables... The ingredients include pork, daikon radish, carrots, burdock root, aburaage (fried tofu), and konjac! It's well simmered, and the daikon radish is soft and melts in your mouth! It has a comforting flavor... the umami of each ingredient comes through... While eating, I watched the cooking process in front of me, and handling the kitchen alone is amazing... It's cool... Lunch with consistently high satisfaction! Thanks for the meal!

There is a restaurant in Otemon, Chuo Ward. It is an izakaya that opened a few years ago. I never really felt like going in for some reason. You can see inside from outside, and the counter had only a few customers, so I hesitated to go in. But one day, we suddenly decided to eat outside. We wanted to go to a nearby restaurant, but it was full, so we ended up visiting this place. I was a bit nervous... because again, it had a counter and no one was sitting there. When I opened the door, a staff member immediately greeted us and showed us to our table where we could see the fish tank. There were also seats in the back. Wow, in the back, there were low tables where four people could sit, and they were all occupied. There was also a second floor with only one table. It felt like being at home (because of the table style). The appetizers were different here. Instead of the usual seaweed or simmered dishes, there was a creatively arranged dish. - Sashimi - Potato salad with mentaiko - Sesame mackerel - Rice ball (both seaweed and filling were delicious) - French fries (a generous portion) - Tomato and beef belly fry (with cheese, popular among women) - Miso soup The menu offers a variety of fish, meat, fried dishes, single dishes, and rice dishes. I would like to revisit and try other dishes. The exterior may seem a bit intimidating, but I'm glad I went in. On our way out, the chef even came to see us off at the door, which was very polite. Thank you for the meal.

For lunch today, I went to this place with a senior colleague from work! It's a shop I really like, but because we can't have drinking parties, I haven't had many chances to come here lately...hmm...Now, let's look at the menu...Let's go with the daily special this time! Today's special set meal: Pork loin (830 yen). It was lunchtime and the place was almost full as usual, but the food arrived at our table in about 15 minutes! The thickly cut pork looked delicious with a good portion...I tried it right away and the chewy texture of the pork, combined with the slightly sweet and tangy sauce, made the rice go down smoothly! The crunchy texture of the onions also contrasted well with the pork! It felt like a typical izakaya set meal, and the rice went down easily! And the variety of side dishes was a pleasant surprise...Today we had potato salad and the classic chawanmushi (steamed egg custard)!! I love chawanmushi, so it was comforting...haha It had been a while, but the satisfaction level of the set meal was still high! I hope to come back for dinner, even though it's been a while!

For lunch today, I had the set meal here for the first time in a while...! At night, I went to an izakaya where the lunch was also delicious and had a generous portion! There were many dishes on the menu and the prices were reasonable... so many charms! The restaurant had a lot of seating, with counter, tables, and tatami rooms. I looked at the menu and decided on the daily special set meal...! Daily Special Set Meal: Pork simmered in red wine (830 yen) After waiting about 10 minutes, the set meal arrived! This time, in addition to the main dish, there was rice, soup, chawanmushi, mentaiko pasta salad, pickles...! The main dish was thickly sliced pork simmered slowly... of course, the pork was so tender that it could be easily pulled apart with chopsticks, and the red wine sauce had a nice acidity that went well with the rice. The sauce was delicious, different from a demi-glace sauce... from seafood to meat, everything was delicious. And having chawanmushi included in the lunch was the best! It was a very satisfying lunch! Thank you for the meal!

Today's lunch was... I visited the place where I had the daily special the other day! I was so curious that I couldn't wait long before visiting again... I really wanted to try the Chicken Nanban! The place seemed popular among office workers during lunchtime, probably because they offer free rice refills. So without further ado, I ordered the main dish...! - Chicken Nanban set meal (850 yen) Based on what I saw last time from the counter, it seems to be the type where tartar sauce is poured over fried chicken. It looked delicious when coated in sweet vinegar sauce beforehand. There is also another option, Mizutaki Karaage, but I assume the base is the same fried chicken! Now, let's dig in! The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, coated with sweet vinegar sauce. The chicken pieces are big and tasty! The tartar sauce is rich with lots of eggs, and the texture and flavor of finely chopped onions and pickles are also good! I personally appreciate the side dishes like the small bowl and chawanmushi that come with it! The portion is generous, and by the time I finish eating, I feel full... A place where you can be satisfied both at night and during the day... I'll definitely go back again!

Today's lunch was a revisit to a place I have visited a few times before but have never taken photos of. This time, I will definitely take a picture of my lunch! The lunch menu includes the following options: - Daily special set meal (830 yen) - Chicken Nanban set meal (850 yen) - Mizutaki Karaage set meal (750 yen) - Seafood bowl (950 yen) - Beef Sagari Dice Steak (1,000 yen) I was planning on getting my favorite Chicken Nanban, but then I saw the daily special at the entrance and decided to order that instead! - Daily special set meal (830 yen) Today's special was Pork Loin and Tomato Cheese Bake... it looked delicious! After about 10 minutes of waiting, my meal arrived! The pork loin was quite large and thick, which was a pleasant surprise as I was expecting something thinner! The pork was cooked perfectly, tender and moist... The acidity and juiciness of the sliced tomato, the richness and aroma of the cheese, and the flavor of basil all worked together beautifully. The crispy cheese on top added an extra delicious touch... This felt more like a feast than just a lunch! The side dishes and chawanmushi (savory egg custard) that came with it were a nice addition too! Apparently, you can get free refills of rice as well? The food is not only delicious at night, but also a great deal for lunch! I definitely want to come back and try the other options!

Live squid sashimi. I made a reservation in advance to ensure the finest squid. I also confirmed the arrival of the squid and requested it to be secured. I took multiple trains to get to this restaurant. The feeling of searching for this place a little walk from the station is exciting. The restaurant has a great appearance. Upon entering, I was surprised to see a group of children with their parents, making a lot of noise. I was expecting a quiet time to enjoy, so I was surprised. The restaurant owner, who was preparing the dishes, came over and said, "I'm sorry. I will move you to a quieter table, please..." This one sentence saved the day. Despite having multiple staff members, the owner himself came over to address the situation. This hospitality changed my impression. The atmosphere of a restaurant loved by locals, caring for the local people. I ordered local sake and live squid sashimi, both carefully prepared and served. The children's energy was unstoppable, but I was so captivated by the taste that I couldn't help but focus on it. This restaurant is a hidden gem. It makes me want to come back when I visit Fukuoka again. It's truly an amazing place.

At a company drinking party, it was my first visit...! I noticed the restaurant during lunchtime and it turned out to be a place I had secretly been interested in... I'm looking forward to it! This time we had a course with all-you-can-drink option! The course included the following dishes: Mexican-style salad, live squid sashimi, Meat and burdock spring rolls, Satsuma-age (deep-fried fish cake), Spicy lotus root, Chicken nanban, Seared beef. Among these, the most delicious was the Meat and burdock spring rolls! It was a combination I had never tried before, like the topping of meat and burdock tempura on udon noodles...! The flavors matched perfectly and it was incredibly delicious...! It's a great snack with good drinks... I really liked it! There is also a large private room at the back, so it's great for large group drinking parties too! I found a good izakaya... this is definitely a place I will visit again...!

I went to the restaurant "Hakata Ryori Taemon" in Fukuoka City, Chuo Ward, on April 2, 2019 (Tuesday). The restaurant is located north of Otemon 1-chome on Showa Street. I wondered when this restaurant was established as I looked at the menu displayed outside, and I found that it had a menu that I liked. The interior of the restaurant has sunken kotatsu-style counter seats where you take off your shoes and table seats where you can sit cross-legged. There is a fish tank at the entrance, so you can expect fresh sashimi at night. There are four lunch menu options, each limited to 20 servings. When I asked what the daily special was, I was told it was pork steak. I ordered the daily special set for 780 yen (tax included). It came with miso soup, a small side dish, chawanmushi, pickles, and unlimited rice refills. It was a great deal to have chawanmushi included for 780 yen. The pork had a good thickness and volume, no tough parts, and was very delicious. It was a great find for this price with chawanmushi included. I was very satisfied with my lunch, especially after getting a rice refill. The restaurant is located at 3-1-16 Otemon, Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City. It is closed on the first and third Sundays of the month, and lunch is not available on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
