They had sashimi and grilled fish, which seemed like a good deal, so I decided to dine there. I waited for about 15 minutes before being seated. The table was spacious, giving a relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the lunch special which included Kyoto pickles, sashimi, and grilled fish. The fish of the day was red snapper. The meal arrived promptly, with rice served in a box, salmon and white fish sashimi, and red snapper marinated in sake lees. The side dishes included sweet potato, konjac, fried tofu simmered in broth, grated yam, miso soup, and plenty of pickles. I'm not a big fan of red snapper, but the sake lees marination made it more enjoyable. The sashimi was fresh as usual. The simmered dish was a bit too sweet for my liking. The rice in the box was enough for two bowls, and I even had a second serving of grated yam over rice. The miso soup was on the sweeter side, which I didn't prefer. I finished the meal with pickles, which was refreshing. Overall, this kind of meal is comforting and satisfying, despite the slight sweetness in some dishes. The value for money was good, and I would recommend it.

When I visited again after a few years, it was early for dinner, but the whole floor was quiet. The food was the same as before, and I could enjoy a reasonable Japanese set meal. During the peak of inbound tourism, the rush affected the food and rice quality, so I hope they reflect on that and make sure it doesn't happen again. I recommend trying the Kyoto-style elegant set meal.

I was intrigued by the ぶぶ漬け御膳 (bubuzuke set meal) for 1080 yen, so I ordered it. It arrived shortly after. What came out was... rice, miso soup, and the main dish was pickles, which was quite simple. Hmm, so this is bubuzuke. Even though I am from Kyoto, I didn't really know what bubuzuke was, but it's definitely not a meal you would serve to guests at home. Eating just pickles with rice is tough. There was a side dish and miso soup included, but I managed to finish it while trying to make up for the lack of flavor. It definitely felt like it was lacking in salt. The pickles themselves were not bad, but oh, I wish there was furikake or salted kelp at least.
