This was my first visit to this restaurant that I've been curious about for a while. The horse sashimi was really delicious. The owner runs the place alone and provides very friendly service. The other dishes besides the horse sashimi are also delicious. It was a relaxing and enjoyable time! I will visit again when I want to eat horse sashimi. Thank you for the meal.

This week, I wanted to explore Fukuoka's gourmet scene, so my brother brought me to this place located about a 10-minute walk south from Yakuin-Odori Station. This restaurant specializes in horse meat dishes and has a cozy, hidden atmosphere with a low entrance. We were guided to a private room as there were regular customers at the counter.
We started with a drink, Naniwa, which had a reliable acidity and umami. We ordered the horse liver and horse bacon potato salad. The potato salad had a nice texture with chunks of bacon, creating a good balance of flavors. The horse liver had good umami but seemed slightly thawed.
Next, we tried the Sawaya Matsumoto sake, which had a rich umami flavor. The grilled morning chicken was well-seasoned and delicious. For dessert, we had black sesame ice cream since they were out of caramel vanilla. It had a pleasant black sesame flavor.
The service was polite, and the atmosphere was comfortable. The menu was intriguing and varied. I would definitely become a regular if this place was closer to where I live.

The restaurant is likely run by the owner alone, handling everything from taking orders to serving dishes. The horse sashimi is of high quality, and all the other dishes are carefully prepared with rich flavors. The cozy restaurant has 3 counter seats and 2 tatami rooms in a traditional Japanese house style, allowing customers to enjoy their meal in a peaceful atmosphere.

On this evening, I wandered around in search of some alcohol. I decided to visit this nearby restaurant "Suzuro," which I had never been to before. Upon entering the restaurant, I saw a counter with 3 seats and a couple of semi-private raised tatami rooms. The owner was running the place alone that day. I sat at the counter and started drinking alone. The appetizers were potato salad and smoked horse sashimi. For snacks, I had two items: - Assorted horse sashimi for 1300 yen, which included five types of cuts. Horse sashimi is always delicious. - Grilled salmon and dried small sardines for 500 yen. I got a half-and-half portion. I had a Kirin Ichiban beer for 550 yen and two glasses of Tenpuku for 600 yen each. It was all very delicious. You can enjoy drinking alone here. Thank you for the meal!

"Sakaya Suzuro" opened in a quiet back alley of Takasago in February. The atmosphere of enjoying horse sashimi and cherry blossom hot pot with Japanese sake is quite nice, reminiscent of the good old Showa era. In addition to counter seats, there are also sunken kotatsu-style seats. The horse sashimi assortment was all delicious, especially the liver was great! It goes well with sake, and the horse sashimi eaten with this salt was also delicious! Oh, what part was it again!? Horse fillet steak - a popular menu item! It's rich and delicious, highly recommended! Futae-go bacon - this bacon goes well with sake, definitely a must-order! Miso hot pot with horse loin - the recommended miso hot pot by the owner! The combination of horse loin and miso is excellent. For the finish, there are noodles available, but I went for the zosui (rice soup) - so happy!! It may be a bit hard to find, but I will definitely visit again. "Sakaya Suzuro" Phone number: 092-522-3737 Address: 1F Liebe Takasago, 2-23-2 Takasago, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City Business hours: 18:00-1:00, closed on Sundays.

On the second night of my trip to Kyushu, I visited the horse meat izakaya "Sakano-ya Suzuro" as my first stop. I had purchased a 3000 yen coupon in advance for this visit. They offer a one-drink system as there is no all-you-can-drink option. Since I had plans to go to a bar for more drinks later, I opted for a carbonated water with lemon. The owner, who was running the place alone, provided very polite service and each dish was carefully prepared, leaving a good impression. The standout dish was the horse sashimi (heart, marbled, mane & lean loin, two-layered) with marbled meat that was rich in flavor and a delicious homemade sauce (this is key). Another dish we tried was their signature roasted fillet of horse. This was also served with a homemade sauce and salt, which made it enjoyable. The fillet was flavorful and left a strong impression. From my experience, I can say that Kyushu Kumamoto-produced horse meat is truly the most delicious. We enjoyed the horse course in a private room with a sunken kotatsu table, and it was a very satisfying experience. For 3000 yen, I was extremely pleased with the quality. Thank you for the wonderful meal. ❤
