神無月サスケ
This restaurant is located near the intersection of Higami Street, halfway between Yakuin Odori and Hirao Station, at the intersection of Hirao 1-chome. The restaurant is on a corner lot with a yellow sign and Mexican and Spanish flags hanging in front of the stairs. When I arrived around 6:50, the restaurant was not yet open. They usually open at 6, but today they had a Hot Pepper interview at noon, so they delayed opening by an hour. They kindly let me wait inside and quickly brought me a drink. I ordered a Tecate beer, which they brought in a bottle. I enjoyed it as it is a Mexican style. Although lime and salt did not come with it, I believe they would have brought them if I had asked. Since they seemed busy, I drank it as is. As 7 o'clock approached, they asked for my food order. I mentioned that I have tried many Mexican dishes but not much Spanish cuisine, and they helped me choose. They suggested starting with tapas if I'm drinking, and tacos if I want Mexican food. I ordered the following: Tapas Platter for 3, which included stewed squid, homemade pickles (olives), and Spanish omelette. These were all great options to pair with drinks. The ingredients may vary depending on what they have, so it's a surprise. Before the tacos arrived, I finished my Tecate beer, so I ordered tequila. They brought me MARIACHI Gold tequila, which was not on the menu but they seem to have a good selection. I prefer to drink tequila straight, and it was really good. It put me in a cheerful mood. Then the tacos arrived. I ordered Avocado, Taco Meat, and Mexican German Potato tacos, which were recommended. They were served with tortilla dough, and I could add chili sauce and vegetables as I pleased. Mixing the ingredients together enhanced the flavors. I like spicy food, so I added plenty of chili sauce, but if you don't like spicy, it's best to avoid it. I also ordered a red Sangria, which was homemade and included whole fruits. It was refreshing, and I enjoyed picking out the fruits with chopsticks. For dessert, I tried the signature Spicy Chicken Bar. It was sweet and spicy, made with honey and chili peppers. It was quite spicy, so be cautious if you don't like heat. The total bill for all the food and drinks came to 4200 yen. When I asked the owner why they serve both Mexican and Spanish cuisine, he said it's because both have a cheerful image, and they wanted to offer both to create a lively atmosphere. I totally agree. Whenever I'm feeling down, going to a Mexican restaurant for tequila and spicy food usually cheers me up, and this time was no exception. Despite only being open for about half a year, the restaurant offers flavors comparable to other establishments in Fukuoka. I hope this restaurant thrives as it deserves to.
