"Relaxing Hidden Gem for Dining in Tenjin" - Iwae-en @ Tenjin. Mr. Okubo, who runs a business offering study support for food and beverage establishments, can be found in Fukuoka. While in Fukuoka, he decided to have lunch at a Chinese restaurant owned by one of his students to study and contribute to sales. Today, he wanted to study the new limited summer dish, cold tantan noodles. Iwae-en is known for its tantan noodles, often seen on TV. The gentle flavor of tantan noodles is well known, but what about the cold version? Here it is. It is topped with plenty of vegetables and has a salad-like appearance, perfect for summer. Let's mix it up and try it. Oh, it has a punch to it. The sesame punch, spiciness, and seasoning are strong. It's not the typical Iwae-en flavor, but it's quite delicious. Next up, we have a dim sum assortment with meat shumai, green shumai, and xiaolongbao. Dessert marks the end of today's lunch. Iwae-en Chinese Restaurant Tenjin Branch. Address: i.CUBE 2F, 1-17-22 Imaizumi, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka. Phone: 092-718-2101. Website: http://iwaen.co.jp/

Today, I came to this restaurant with my colleagues from work, which we had made a reservation for in advance. The attraction here is that you can get 7 dishes with all-you-can-drink for 3,980 yen. I have used this place often for company farewell parties in the past. To be honest, the food itself is "average" and the portion size is not outstanding, but for someone like me who mainly focuses on drinking, it's just right. And I'm happy that they serve beer (Heartland) in very good condition. The foam is creamy and delicious. There was a bit of noise as there was another company's farewell party going on, but I preferred the lively atmosphere over a quiet one.

Hello, this is Maruharu. Today, I went to a Chinese restaurant called "Yiwaen" in Imaizumi, Fukuoka City. I ordered the liver and leek set meal. I always order the liver and leek set meal at Chinese restaurants. It's my favorite. It was even better than the usual local Chinese restaurants! The soup and almond jelly were also delicious! I would like to go back here again. Thank you for the meal.

I visited in a Chinese mood. I have been to the store at Hakata Station before, but this was my first time at the Tenjin store. It was already 80% full even though it was past 11:30. The tantanmen was just a little spicy and easy to eat. Tantanmen, fried rice, pickled vegetables, almond jelly for 950 yen is cheap. The oil-drizzled chicken that I got as a gift was also delicious.

As we approach the latter half of October and start to feel the coolness in the air, I visited a restaurant to finally fulfill my year-long wish for clay pot rice, only to find out that it was unexpectedly closed... This is why I dislike restaurants with irregular closing days. I headed to "Yiwaen" located on the west side of Imaizumi Park Street, where a stylish hidden gem of a restaurant can be found in a building on the second floor. With about 10 tables and 30 seats in the hall, as well as private room-style seating, the place was bustling with customers, mostly women, despite being close to full with nearby office workers. During lunchtime, they offer noodle rice dishes and set meals for under 1,000 yen, but what caught my eye was the hand-drawn "Taiwanese-style leek soba." I imagined a spicy ramen with leeks floating in the soup due to the visual of the dish and the mention of Taiwanese style, but what was served seemed like a disappointment, just a soy sauce ramen with minced meat and leeks on top. However, after trying a spoonful of the soup with the floating leeks, the impactful aroma of hot scallion oil made me forget my initial disappointment. To complement the noodles, I also ordered the "Shumai with Shrimp," which featured hand-cut chunks of pork that released a savory flavor when bitten into, along with the firm texture of shrimp and the umami of shiitake mushrooms. I was able to enjoy the dish without the need for soy sauce, and it was delicious.

Founded in the 1940s in Osaka and now headquartered in Tokyo, this long-established Chinese restaurant has two locations in Fukuoka, near Hakata Station and in the center of Tenjin. The Hakata Station location, open for over 40 years, has a slightly retro feel, while the Tenjin location, celebrating its 7th anniversary this year, is a relatively modern establishment with reasonably priced menu items. During lunchtime, it is bustling with office workers. One of the signature dishes at Yowaen is the Dan Dan noodles. The "Sichuan Dan Dan Mian" is priced at 850 yen for a single serving. During lunchtime, there is a set menu available for 950 yen, which includes a half serving of Dan Dan noodles and a half serving of fried rice, along with almond jelly for dessert. For an additional 200 yen, you can upgrade the half serving of Dan Dan noodles to a regular size. The rich and flavorful soup, with plenty of meat miso and sesame, is a satisfying dish to enjoy. The fried rice is prepared on the lighter side, providing a nice balance with the rich Dan Dan noodles. The Tenjin Mapo Tofu set meal is priced at 850 yen. The rice and soup in the lunch set are refillable. Similar to the Dan Dan noodles, the Mapo Tofu is also on the rich side, but not overly spicy. By grinding the provided Sichuan pepper generously over the dish, you can enhance the flavors. Overall, it was a delicious meal. In addition to set meals, there are also a la carte menu options available for noodle and rice dishes. In the evening, the restaurant can be enjoyed as a Chinese-style izakaya. On the last day of the 3-day weekend, it was crowded everywhere in Tenjin... I thought it didn't seem too busy, but even when a table opened up, we weren't seated right away, and everyone who was waiting was served an appetizer!!! The lunch menu had so many options that I couldn't decide. This time, I went with the rare choice of Chinese porridge, which was made with mixed grains, sweet potatoes, and some kind of snack? Haha, I avoided the snack-like item. The three varieties of daikon mochi at Tenshin were all delicious♡

Today, there was a farewell party with three people, including myself. Due to the pandemic, we had a spacious private room to relax and enjoy our meal. The room had a view of the kitchen, which seemed to result in perfect timing for the dishes to be served. The amount of food was just right, and although I didn't capture all the dishes in photos, they kept coming one after another, with the last dish being the tantanmen shown in the photo. I was very satisfied with the generous amount of sesame paste in the dish as a perfect ending. We brought our own alcohol, but there was also unlimited Shaoxing wine and Japanese sake, including Yamanotsuyu. We were well taken care of. Thank you to everyone from the same department for the great time.

I come here occasionally every few months. The fact that you can have unlimited rice is great, but the dishes like Chinjao Rosu and Ebi Chili are also delicious! We also ordered some Shumai, which was chewy and really tasty! The lunch menu is around 1000 yen, so I highly recommend it!

This week's rotating porridge lunch had three types of dim sum with green vegetables and cherry shrimp porridge, as well as wonton. The porridge this week was a hit! The sauce for the wonton was also delicious. And the rotating lunch this week was sweet and sour pork. That was also delicious. I didn't order two by myself. The sweet and sour pork was ordered by my partner. I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious lunch. Thank you for the meal.

Ankake Gohan with Five Toppings for 900 yen. If you come here for lunch, this is the top recommendation! While everything else is delicious, this is a must-try. It's one of the top 3 recommendations for lunch at Hakata Station. You can get an idea of my impression by looking at the ratings for each category. Other gourmet information can be found on my Instagram account. I travel to Fukuoka and other places in search of truly delicious and special restaurants that I would want to visit again. The number of ratings is not the most important factor, but I have visited around 500 restaurants per year. Prices include tax.

Yiwaen Garden Tenjin branch Fukuoka City, Imaizumi area popular Chinese restaurant with long lines, under 1000 yen with a wide variety of menu options and affordable prices. Located on the 2nd floor of the i-CUBE building, right near Imaizumi Park. Yiwaen Garden is a Chinese restaurant with a 60-year history, with 5 stores mainly in Tokyo, and here in Fukuoka, there is this branch and one at Hakata Station. When I visited on a Saturday at 11:30, it was already almost full, but I was seated without having to wait. They had hygiene measures in place with temperature checks and partitions between each table. The seating space might be a bit tight, but the modern interior is stylish. The lunch menu includes tax-included set meals (7 types) ranging from 800 yen to 900 yen, with the option to add salad for 50 yen and upgrade to a regular size for the tantanmen set for an additional 200 yen. There are also course meals and a la carte options available. The weekly changing rice porridge set meal for 800 yen included rice porridge with century egg and yuzu, which was a unique and tasty combination. The dim sum included shrimp and spinach dumplings, pork shumai, and sticky rice shumai, which lifted my spirits as a dim sum lover. The stir-fried pork with pickled vegetables was like a shredded version of green pepper pork, which went well with rice. The generous portion of rice porridge was surprisingly filling. I added a salad for balance, and the simple almond jelly dessert was a nice finish to the meal. As I left, I noticed a line forming, which was understandable given the variety and popularity of the dishes. Overall, I think it offers good value for money. Yiwaen Garden Tenjin branch is an 8-minute walk from Tenjin subway station, open from 11:30 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 22:00, with no regular holidays (irregular holidays). Takeout and delivery services are available, and there is paid parking nearby. Please check the official website for more information when planning to visit.

I visited this restaurant for the first time at a year-end party. We had the all-you-can-drink course (probably the standard and cheapest one) starting with a beer toast, followed by appetizers (the Komatsuna had a strong star anise flavor). Then, we had chawanmushi for soup, which was surprising but delicious. The shark fin disguised as enoki in the shrimp fritters was understandable, but the taste was indescribable - sweet and spicy, with a hint of mystery (was it condensed milk instead of mayonnaise?). The chicken oyster stir-fry was a safe bet and very tasty. I had never tried lobster with chili sauce before, and although it was a bit difficult to eat, the sauce was delicious. The shumai was meaty with a subtle yuzu flavor in the skin (they brought black vinegar, which I recommend adding). The finale was the tantanmen noodles, the restaurant's specialty, and they were delicious! I added some chili oil and the soup was perfect. Everyone in our group loved it. Unfortunately, I was too full to try the almond jelly, but everyone who did said it was delicious. Overall, the food was delicious, the staff were all stylish and cute, and it was great that there were no rowdy youngsters around. We had a satisfying and enjoyable time in just two hours.

First time at this restaurant. I've been really into Chinese lunches lately. The lunch prices are quite reasonable. I arrived around 12 o'clock and sure enough, there were about 3 groups waiting in line. It was a cold day, so I wanted to get in quickly. Soon, the customers ahead of us left, so we were able to enter. We had already decided on our order while waiting in line. I had the sweet and sour pork set meal, and my partner had the weekly special set meal. I was craving sweet and sour pork because I was feeling tired haha. The draft beer, Heartland, was delicious! It took a while for our order to come out, as it seemed like many families were dining in and staying for a long time. The sweet and sour pork had a refined taste with a good amount of vinegar. My partner's weekly special was a fluffy egg and pork stir-fry with doubanjiang. The fluffy texture of the egg was really nice, and I wanted to eat it on top of rice haha. It's hard to believe that this quality is only 800 yen. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I came here to have some tantanmen and fried rice. Both dishes were a bit on the mild side, but the fried rice portion was just right for one person. I felt like the tantanmen portion was a little small, but it turned out to be close to a regular size. I really like sauce, so I wished I could have put some on the fried rice! Thank you for the meal.

It was my second visit in three months, last time I had sweet and sour pork. This time, I couldn't decide between mapo tofu and tan-tan noodles, so I ordered the tan-tan noodle set. It arrived in about 10 minutes. I tried the soup first. Delicious!!! It was a sesame-rich, spicy soup with a hint of sansho pepper. Then I tried the noodles. Delicious!!! They were thin, crinkly noodles that absorbed the flavorful soup well. Lastly, I tried the fried rice. Delicious!!! It was a bit lightly seasoned. For an extra 200 yen, you can get a larger portion of tan-tan noodles, so I should have ordered that instead. I'm not completely full, but it was a great meal. Thank you.

I had been thinking about sweet and sour pork since last week, and when I saw it on the lunch menu, I decided to visit this restaurant. I ordered the sweet and sour pork set meal, and it arrived in about 5 minutes. I took a bite of the pork right away. It was delicious! However, it was more sour than I expected, but the rice went well with it. By the way, you can have unlimited refills of rice and soup. For dessert, there was almond jelly, which was also delicious. I am full now. Thank you for the meal.

Unlike the familiar Hakata Ekimae branch, the Tenjin branch has a more casual vibe. My wife and I enjoyed a leisurely weekend lunch with a course costing around 2000 yen. The dishes we ordered included: 1) Chinese-style seafood salad with squid 2) Stir-fried shrimp, bamboo shoots, and broccoli 3) Shrimp mayonnaise 4) Shumai 5) Sweet and sour pork with black vinegar 6) Five-flavor fried rice 7) Almond jelly. While the lunch at this branch is usually affordable, costing less than 1000 yen, opting for the course menu offers more elaborate dishes and is worth it if you have a bit more room in your stomach and budget. Thank you for the delicious meal.

It's been 1 year and 3 months since I last visited Tenjin Yuiwaen for lunch. We arrived before 1pm on a weekday and the place was packed with customers. The atmosphere inside was calm, or at least it seemed that way with so many customers (laughs). I had the tantanmen and fried rice set, while my partner had the rice porridge set. We both ordered the famous tantanmen, which had a rich sesame flavor. The light-tasting fried rice paired well with it. Considering the location, I think it's reasonably priced. Thank you for the meal.

I had a set of dan dan noodles and fried rice for 900 yen. The dan dan noodles had a nice level of spiciness and a strong sesame flavor, consistently delicious. The fried rice had a gentle overall seasoning which I liked. There were slightly larger chunks of roasted pork which added a nice texture. Although the pickled mustard greens were not very noticeable, I prefer simple flavors. I always find myself curious about the "gomoku soba" style dish, but I always end up choosing the dan dan noodles. Next time, I want to try something other than dan dan noodles.

The tantan noodles are delicious! The flavors of vegetables and fruits are all mixed together, making it really tasty. The Peking duck was a bit thin, not very satisfying. It's not just the Peking duck, but overall the food was lacking something. The taste was not bad, but it didn't leave a lasting impression. Also, the portion size was small. The amount of food was like what you see in the photo for three adult men. If there's not enough food, we'll get drunk quickly! The waitress in the Chinese dress provided good service. Overall, there was a sense of something missing, but only the tantan noodles delivered. This place seems to be more of a tantan noodle shop. Can we have an extra serving, please? (burp)
