I went to Osaka the other day. Before catching the Shinkansen back, let's have dinner. There was a restaurant I had been curious about for a while. I was interested in the "Unagi Tamadon" (eel and egg rice bowl). I love eel, so I wanted to try it. The restaurant was located in the dining area on the second basement floor of Osaka Station. I looked at the dining area map to find the restaurant. Huh? Couldn't find it? I circled around but... Let's search again. Found it. The restaurant was surprisingly small. It was also hard to find because they had insulation curtains up. Finally made it inside the restaurant. It was a holiday, but luckily it wasn't crowded. I sat at the counter. When I looked at the menu, I saw the "Soaring!! Unagi Tamadon" that was only available during lunch, but I was relieved to find out that it was also available for dinner. However, there was a one-drink minimum for dinner. Of course, I ordered the "Unagi Tamadon" (2,390 yen). While waiting, the person sitting next to me received their rice bowl. Oh! The person next to me also ordered the "Unagi Tamadon." It must be popular. After about 10 minutes of waiting, it arrived! The eel was sticking out!! Before the eel falls off, I took a picture!! I used two small plates to move the eel and the rolled omelette to the side, and started eating. It was delicious. I ate the eel with the rice. So good! The rolled omelette was so soft and tasty! No, freshly made eel rice bowl is the best!!! I silently continued to eat. Oh, the eel is gone. Full. But there was still rice left. It's okay. You can have the remaining rice made into a rice ball to take home. By the way, there was a fortune slip in the chopsticks. It said "Great Luck." Finally, I asked the staff. The amount of rice was apparently 750g. Thank you for the meal. As I left, the staff loudly said, "Have a safe trip." "Have a great day." It was embarrassing but uplifting. Total bill: Cash. It was the best, I really wanted to come here to eat so I lined up for lunch for an hour. However, I wasn't feeling well so the generous portion of the lunch looked heavy to me in my condition. I asked if I could order from the dinner menu and they said it was fine ❤️ They were so kind. I thought about just ordering some skewers, but then they brought out a bowl of rice for the eel dish! They really pay attention to detail. I had grilled eel, skewers with sauce, a bowl of rice with egg yolk and whipped butter topping, and liver. The portion was just right and it was amazing. The sauce wasn't too sweet, making it easy to eat, and the combination of whipped butter and eel skewers was fantastic. However, even though I wasn't feeling well, I ended up drinking a highball and my hearing started to fade, so I had to give up on ordering more and left. I would like to come back leisurely at night next time. I really wanted to drink sake haha. The staff were all wonderful, especially the person who whipped the butter was very cute and energetic. It's a fantastic restaurant where you don't mind waiting for an hour.

The shop I was interested in after seeing it on TV! There was hardly any line! I was relieved! But then I realized that there was a long line in the open area... It was the middle of summer vacation, during the Obon period, and with the lifting of the ban on group tourists from overseas, I waited for about an hour on a weekday before 1 pm. Most of the people lining up seemed to be from overseas. Although the sun wasn't shining directly on us, it felt like we were mostly outside, so it was really hot! Finally, when we got inside, the shop's structure didn't have many closed-off areas from the walkway, so the air conditioning wasn't very effective and it was really hot. Most of the shops in the area are like that, so it can't be helped, but I was eating while sweating a lot (laughs). They did offer green tea frequently, but unfortunately, there was no ice in it, so it was lukewarm... If it was a more comfortable season, it probably wouldn't have been as noticeable! I chose the most popular eel and egg rice bowl! Such a huge portion!!!! It was overwhelming! The rolled omelette was so soft and the eel was swaying...!! Before dropping it, I quickly moved it to the plate they brought out (laughs). The amount of eel was half a fillet, and this price is really cheap! The rolled omelette was also delicious with a strong dashi flavor! The eel was fatty and the skin was crispy, it was very delicious!! The amount of rice was the same even if you asked for less, and the price was the same for a large portion. The liver dish comes in a small cup. The taste is on the salty side. You might not need the liver dish. The rice part is a very dark color, but the taste is not too strong, it's light and goes well with the eel. I couldn't finish all the rice, so I had it made into a rice ball! However, it's very nice to be able to eat delicious eel at a low price with a lot of volume, but it's really difficult to wait in line and it makes you feel reluctant to go again... This time, there were many overseas visitors due to sightseeing, and many people were taking photos and videos and staying for a long time, so the turnover was slow. I can understand the feeling of wanting to sit down and relax because of the heat and the long line. Besides the eel bowl, there are so many other menu items with huge portions!! There were many delicious-looking dishes such as grilled skewers and other dishes, so I would like to try other dishes as well. I would like to check the line situation again after the end of the summer vacation. Ordered eel rice bowl, eel potato salad, and highball for the eel. The eel rice bowl was huge with plenty of sauce, almost like it was cooked in the sauce. The eel was luxurious with a generous amount of sauce on top of rice, and the eel roll was delicious. It was served hot and remained hot for a long time. There are sansho pepper and sauce on the table for flavor variation. The potato salad with eel and boiled egg was surprisingly good. Don't be bound by common sense. The highball was easy to drink, and the sansho pepper added a nice touch. I could drink many glasses of it. The day before the midsummer day of the ox, with signs of inbound tourism returning, there was a long line mainly of foreigners. The staff's energy and enthusiasm remained high despite being busy. It's a very pleasant restaurant. It was extremely delicious!!!

The day before the Midsummer Day of the Ox, I went to the restaurant and it was incredibly crowded (waited for over an hour). The eel that I was looking forward to was crispy and fatty, and very delicious. Personally, I preferred the eel skewers over the eel rice bowl as the rice in the bowl didn't have as much flavor as I had expected. The eel bone crackers were an amazing snack, perfect for those who enjoy drinking as you can eat as much as you want. The Chin-Chinro game where you could get free drinks, half-price drinks, or a large mug as a service was fun (unfortunately, we both got large mugs due to odd numbers). The fried chicken had a unique sauce similar to the eel sauce, which I personally loved. There was more food than I expected, so be careful when going with a small group. Thank you for the meal!

The food is delicious! It's fine to wait for a table at the restaurant, but waiting outside in the heat is tough. It's a common practice, but if the wait is too long in this heat, people could get sick! I wish they would consider providing a waiting area with better facilities. The service is solid, but being left outside is tough. The grilled eel skewers are tasty! A little burnt, but still good.

I had assumed it was a shop for foreigners, but there were also many Japanese customers. The service at the shop was full of enthusiasm like something out of Instagram. The taste was really delicious. However, the amount of rice was too much, and I felt that the deliciousness of the eel was slightly diminished. It would be nice if there was an option to reduce the amount of rice. If they had asked even once, I would never have chosen the large portion. I feel really sorry for leaving some behind. The family next to me also seemed unable to finish their meals. It was a bit disappointing. But it was delicious. Advance reservations are required. It's great that you can make a reservation online even though there are many tourists.

I wanted to eat eel, so I went to the food court in Lucua. If you come from the central ticket gate of Osaka Station, you can use the escalator near Lucua. When you get off the escalator near Uniqlo, it's right in front of you. There were energetic staff members at the eel and skewer izakaya, calling out loudly, and beautiful ladies responding with lively voices. At first glance, the eel rice bowl looked amazing! It was towering! The eel bowl looked amazing, so I looked around and saw many people eating it. I think I waited quite a while because there were many orders. What surprised me the most was the huge portion of rice and eel, and the fact that the rice was packed tightly to hold the eel and rolled omelette in place. I had to dig into the rice to eat it, like excavating it. Maybe they had to do this to keep the egg and eel on top. The size of the eel was impressive! I couldn't help but order it, but being not so young anymore, I thought it didn't have to be that big. The taste of the eel sauce was not very strong, and there was a slight raw smell. The egg was a beautiful yellow color, with just the right softness and very delicious. It was larger than the usual rolled omelette. I ate it sweating, but I couldn't finish the rice because there was so much. It's a lot for a woman to eat alone, making me feel like I was in a big eater challenge! I laughed. The remaining rice and eel can be taken home, and the cute staff lady will make it into rice balls for you. I went there thinking that the Day of the Ox was coming soon, but there weren't many people there for that purpose, it felt more like an away game among people in their 20s. It seems like the restaurant wants young people to eat the eel, or maybe that's the target audience. There was quite a line, probably for that reason. The line right at the escalator exit is for this restaurant. You can also order by scanning the QR code on the table. Hot tea is charged because it's an izakaya.

This is a lively shop with an eel-centered menu. It might be a bit noisy for those looking for a quiet atmosphere, but it's fun. The highball that goes well with eel was good, but this time they didn't ask if I wanted to add sansho pepper. I wonder if they changed it. The eel pie and the giant eel bowl were enjoyable at a reasonable price and reasonably delicious. I quite like it.

I ordered a full-volume eel omelette and a fatty beef eel bowl, both of which were unexpectedly delicious! I thought the restaurant would be Instagram-worthy, but the taste was also excellent. Personally, I think the fatty beef was the best. However, if you come with two people, one dish is enough. There is really plenty of rice! Alternatively, you can choose to order half the rice (I didn't know you could do that when I went), allowing you to taste more flavors.

I went after a long time. The name of the restaurant had changed a little. Unfortunately, the eel was not delicious at all. I came to "Izumo" on the 2nd floor of Osaka LUCUA to try the popular Unagi Tamadon for ¥2580. The dish consisted of half a portion of grilled eel, 750g of rice, and a large omelette made with 3 eggs. The portion was even bigger than I had imagined. They mentioned that if you couldn't finish it, you could take the leftovers home as onigiri, but I managed to finish it all.

After a workshop in Osaka, I decided to recharge my energy at "Izumo" by trying the eel bowl challenge. From the photos and menu, I thought I could handle it alone because it looked like a huge portion. I ordered the eel bowl, and my partner ordered the eel rice bowl. First, we were served a side dish of "kinpira," which was delicious. Since I wanted to avoid alcohol that day, I ordered corn tea, which was fragrant and sweet. My partner's eel rice bowl was a standard size with extra sauce on the side. Then came my eel bowl - wow! It was massive and impressive, served in a bowl instead of a regular dish, with rice cooked in sauce piled high like the Northern Alps. The taste was great, with juicy rolled omelette and good quality eel. I think it's a good value for the price, but the portion size was too much, especially with the rich sauce-infused rice. It was impossible to finish alone, so I recommend sharing one between two people. The taste was delicious though!

I chose the towering eel and egg rice bowl. I waited for about 10 minutes after ordering. The egg was fluffy and delicious! The egg itself doesn't have much flavor. The eel was thick and fluffy! Delicious.. I want to come back for more. I ordered a half portion of rice, but it was still filling! The rice is quite dark, but it doesn't have a particular taste even when eaten alone. Why is it so dark? Is my taste weird? LOL

When I visited the restaurant, all the staff welcomed me. I wasn't confident in finishing the famous eel bowl, so I ordered the "Uttori Juu" instead. The eel was soft and oily, very delicious. The addition of egg yolk allows for a creamy flavor change, which is nice! It was interesting that there was a fortune slip attached to the chopsticks. The fact that all the staff saw me off when I left made me feel really good.

I had been curious about the Dekamori series for a while, and I finally tried the Unagi Tamago Don with 750g of rice and the option to choose the amount of beef for the Unagi Gyudon. I ordered the Gyudon with 100g of beef. The beef wasn't particularly delicious since it's an eel restaurant, but the eel was soft and tasty. The rice wasn't too flavorful, but there were sauces, shichimi, and sansho pepper on the table for seasoning. The Tamago Don had a delicious, fluffy egg with a rich broth. Overall, I felt that the Unagi Tamago Don was better in terms of taste and cost-effectiveness. You can also take the leftover rice home and make onigiri with it, which is a nice bonus!

EPA cannot be stored in the body, so it is important to consume it regularly. I went to Izumo to eat eel rich in EPA. It is located in the basement B2 of LUCUA Bari. I came here to try the towering eel and egg bowl, which won the 2022 Japan Trendy Donburi Award. I ordered some oolong tea for an additional 320 yen. After 3 pm, there is a surcharge of 350 yen. The oolong tea was unnecessary as they provided water. There was a 350 yen appetizer. Perhaps the high rent explains the price. I ordered the towering eel and egg bowl for 2390 yen. It looked impressive and Instagram-worthy. I took a video of the whole dish. How am I supposed to eat this? I guess I should separate it into another plate. The eel rice was quite lightly seasoned. It tasted just right when I poured the eel sauce provided. The rolled omelette was delicious when eaten with the eel. The combination of eel and egg was tasty. However, there was too much eel rice compared to eel, which left me feeling a bit unsatisfied. I personally prefer a stronger flavor to satisfy my hunger. The combination of eel and egg was good, but it was a bit disappointing.

Today's lunch was at Umeda, Osaka! I finally fulfilled my wish to eat the "Towering Eel and Egg Rice Bowl" at a restaurant called Izumo in Lucua Umeda.
