Located in a building on the first floor along a street about 300 meters from the Nishijin Central Shopping Street in Fukuoka City's Sawara Ward, just across the Sawara Kaido, is a Chinese Northern cuisine restaurant called "Shimikan." The restaurant, established in 1988, pays homage to a renowned Chinese restaurant in Hangzhou, China, with the same name. The founder, who was born in the former Manchuria region under Japanese rule, returned to Japan and started this restaurant at the end of the Showa era. The current owner, the second-generation chef Kyoji Uno, continues to serve up authentic Chinese Northern cuisine with flavors that are relatively mild compared to other Chinese dishes. Popular dishes include the "Yang Teishoku" (mapo tofu sauce over fried rice), "Sara Udon," "Black Pepper Pork Bowl," and "Gyoza," among others. The restaurant is known for its authentic taste and generous portions, attracting locals and visitors alike. I have been a patron of this restaurant for over 30 years, enjoying the authentic Chinese dishes and the friendly atmosphere. On my recent visit, I ordered the "Black Yang Teishoku" with an extra serving. The dish consists of mapo tofu sauce over fried rice, a combination that has been a favorite among students for its affordability and generous portion size. The restaurant also offers variations of this dish, such as the "Red Yang" with added spiciness and the "Devil Yang" for those who enjoy extra heat. I went a little further to Nishijin. There is a shopping street. It's a nice area. It was my first time in the Nishijin area. I had seen this restaurant online and was curious about it. I visited around 1 pm. There was a bit of a line, but since I was alone, I was seated at the counter pretty quickly. The interior of the restaurant is full of illustrations, and they are really good! I wonder who drew them. There were many items on the menu, but since it was my first visit, I went with the apparently popular "Young" dish. It is fried rice with mapo tofu poured over it like curry. It comes with soup. The fried rice was fluffy and delicious! The mapo tofu was not too spicy. When eaten together with the fried rice, it was also delicious! And the portion was generous! After a stroll, I headed back home. Thank you for the meal.

On a regular day around 1 pm, I visited the restaurant with two young, hearty eaters and myself, making a total of three people. We waited in line for about 10 minutes before entering. I ordered the "Red Young" (800 yen), which is basically the "Young" (700 yen) with added spicy bean paste and chili bean paste to increase the numbing and spiciness. The mapo tofu on the "Red Young" was definitely spicier and numbing compared to the standalone mapo tofu I had before. However, I found the increased saltiness to be a bit overwhelming. It seems like the regular "Young" might suit my taste buds better. The dish did not include the green onions that were in the standalone mapo tofu. The minced meat, soft and fluffy tofu, and richly seasoned sauce were generously served. The fried rice contained eggs, onions, carrots, a small amount of fish cake, and green onions. The rice was fluffy and moist, with a good texture. The combination of the two dishes worked well together. I could eat quietly and steadily with a single spoon from start to finish without any issues, which was nice. The satisfying feeling of fullness gradually set in. Even though I was already full, I learned that there were options for a 150 yen larger portion ("Large") or a 300 yen larger portion ("Special Large"), which was impressive. One of my companions ordered the "Dan Dan Noodles" (800 yen) with an additional "Half Fried Rice" (200 yen extra). The soup of the Dan Dan Noodles was richly flavored with plenty of freshly ground sesame seeds. The noodles were flat, and there were lots of green onions. The half fried rice portion seemed like a full portion for the price. The other companion ordered the "Sura Tanmen" (850 yen) with an additional "Half Fried Rice" (200 yen extra). Tanmen is not commonly seen in the western Japan region, including Fukuoka, but for some reason, Sura Tanmen is quite popular. The soup was sour, spicy, and rich in flavor, with a thick consistency similar to a sauce. It was filled with various vegetables and had flat noodles. The portion size was incredibly large, and combined with the thick soup, it took even a hearty eater some time to finish.

The recommended dishes at this restaurant are the Young Set Meal with fried rice and mapo tofu, but this time I tried something else. The plate udon has a traditional flavor and is delicious. The crispy pork with sweet and sour sauce has a perfect texture that goes well with beer. Every menu item here is delicious, there are no disappointments. I really wanted to eat fried rice, so I added a half order of fried rice to the plate udon set. I am very satisfied. I tried Enoki Chanpon for the first time at a classic Chinese restaurant in Nishishin called Oudou Machi Chukagai. This place is known for its punchy flavors, but I was surprised by how gentle and mild the Chanpon soup was, with a slightly sweet taste. It was delicious! Everything I've tried at this restaurant has been outstanding. They provide vinegar and chili oil for flavor adjustments, which also tasted great. The chef always adds little jokes, which I find amusing. We ordered Stamina Butadon and Curry Fried Rice Young to share with my family of three, and the portions were huge, especially the Young which we ended up taking home. The food was consistently delicious and enjoyable.

Three competitive eaters gathered to tackle a large serving challenge at this restaurant! They ordered a combination of mapo tofu and fried rice called "Young," which looked like a huge portion from the photos. And indeed, the volume was impressive! We ordered the Garlic Young (880 yen) and some fried chicken. The mapo tofu with garlic was fantastic! The fried rice was delicious as well. Even though we didn't go for the extra-large serving, the normal portion was already a big challenge! And all of this for just 880 yen is a great deal! The fried chicken was also big and tasty. They have a variety of other menu items, so I definitely want to visit again! Thank you for the meal!

Hello! It's Fukuchan (*^ω^*)♪ This time, I went to a fantastic Chinese restaurant in Nishijin called Chimikan, which serves huge portions! It's no wonder that many students live in this area! The amount of food is amazing and it tastes delicious too (*゚∀゚*) If only there was a place like this nearby, I would love it! I'm thinking maybe I should move here, haha.

I recently visited #Chimikan and I already want to go back again. Last time I tried the Young (Mapo Tofu & Fried Rice), so this time I decided to try something different: - Black Pepper Pork Bowl This is also a popular menu item and it comes with Mapo Tofu as well. I went to Chimi Kan, a famous Chinese restaurant in Nishijin, for lunch after a long time. The food here has a huge portion, so I don't have the confidence to finish it alone, but I plan to go with my daughter when she comes home. It's so delicious that I want to go there often. When I went around 12 o'clock on a weekday, there were already 5 groups waiting to enter. Since they don't do shared seating, I patiently waited. I prefer waiting over sharing a table with strangers. The Young Set Meal with fried rice and mapo tofu is an unbeatable combination. The sweet and sour pork with curry flavor is excellent. The portions are huge, but I managed to finish it somehow. You can also take the leftovers home. I thought I should challenge myself to finish it alone next time, haha.

Hello, this is Maruharu ^_^ Today, I went to a Chinese restaurant called "Chumokan" in Nishijin, Fukuoka City. I used to go here a lot during my university days. The food here is really delicious. It's like they've captured my stomach! I highly recommend the Mapo Tofu Fried Rice at the back of the photo. There's also a dish called "Young" here that is really tasty. I tried the Spicy Shrimp Noodles for the first time today, and it was incredibly delicious. The flavor of the shrimp spreads so well! It was really delicious. Thank you for the meal ^_^

I visited the restaurant "Chimi Kan" which occasionally appears on TV and wanted to try their Northern Chinese cuisine. It was my first time visiting. I arrived at the restaurant at 11:05. It was five minutes after opening, and there was one other group of customers already there. I ordered the Young's spring roll set (+300) and the sweet and sour pork set. The sweet and sour pork set arrived first, followed quickly by the Young's spring roll set. The sweet and sour pork was flavorful with a generous amount of meat and vegetables. The fried rice had a gentle seasoning and paired well with the mapo tofu. The soup was thick and provided a nice break for the palate. The spring rolls were small but delicious, especially when dipped in salt and pepper. The set also came with a salad. Both dishes had great taste, portion size, and value for money. The menu is extensive, offering many tempting options. Next time, I would like to try the rice bowls or noodle dishes. I left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. The meal was delicious. The portion size is generous. The mapo tofu is delicious, but personally, I prefer the fried rice. This is a regular size serving, suitable for students, so it's best to go on an empty stomach (unless you have a big appetite...). The price and taste are both satisfying.

This is a bit of a curveball, but I tried the dried fish ramen at a Chinese restaurant. This restaurant is popular for its Chinese cuisine, and everything I tried tasted delicious. I went to "Chimi Kan," a Chinese Northern cuisine restaurant in Nishijin, Sawara-ku, Fukuoka City! Unfortunately, the main restaurant I wanted to visit was closed that day, but Nishijin has many other dining options. And then I remembered there's "Young" here! "Young" is a popular menu item at this restaurant which consists of fried rice topped with mapo tofu, created with the hope that students (young people) would enjoy it. It's quite a generous portion, and they even offer larger sizes like extra-large and super-sized. There are various types of "Young" available: Red Young (spicy mapo tofu), Black Young (spicy and flavorful mapo tofu), Mayo Young (mapo tofu with homemade mayonnaise), Garlic Young (mapo tofu with a strong garlic flavor), Curry Fried Rice Young (fried rice with curry flavor), Oni Young (spicy mapo tofu), and Super Oni Young (extremely spicy mapo tofu). The other menu items are also highly praised. I tried the Curry Fried Rice Young, and it was delicious! The combination of curry and mapo tofu surprisingly worked well together. Both the mapo tofu and curry fried rice were quite spicy, but the flavor was so good that I couldn't stop eating. It paired perfectly with the Qingdao beer I ordered. The overall taste was on the salty side, but it was a great value for a filling meal. Next time, I want to try the Garlic Young or Mayo Young! As I left the restaurant, the heat outside made me sweat non-stop. It was a satisfying meal experience!

As soon as we entered the restaurant at 5:30 on Sunday, it was clear that there were a lot of takeout orders coming in, keeping the kitchen very busy. Amidst the cries of "It's hell in here!" coming from the kitchen, more orders kept coming in over the phone! We ordered the following dishes while enjoying a beer set with char siu: - Sweet and sour pork - Shrimp omelette - Tan Tan noodles and half-fried rice set - Small portion of rice This restaurant serves generous portions, so it's important to order conservatively, but we underestimated this time! The half-fried rice was a full portion, and the small rice was more like a light large portion! The food was delicious, but we were absolutely stuffed by the end. Thank you for your hard work amidst the chaos.

Cold dipping noodles with dried fish broth, served in 25 minutes. Almost no dried fish flavor, the bamboo shoots are too hard. Slightly hints of bonito flavor. The pork slices have turned into lard and the tips of the chopsticks are white. The noodles were delicious. It would have been better if it was more like a mapo tofu flavor.

I went to the famous restaurant Chimi Kan in Nishishin to try their cold simmered sardine soba for study purposes. The texture of the menma was crunchy and delicious! The soup had a strong sardine flavor. The bowl was chilled and it was seriously delicious! I highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you for the meal!

This time I chose the Black Young. I'm not a fan of spicy food, but it was delicious without being too spicy! And the Tantanmen. It was my first time ordering noodles at this restaurant, and it was so delicious that I didn't regret it! It has a rich flavor that will make you nod in approval. And the Sweet and Sour Pork.
