I heard that a new seafood restaurant run by a fresh fish store was opening in the local area. I visited multiple times to check on the progress, and I thought it might be delayed until April, but it opened at the end of March in Shime Chuo, Kasuya District, Fukuoka Prefecture, right along the prefectural road where my favorite Matsukatsu shop is located nearby. I went there immediately. When I entered the restaurant around 11:30 on a weekday, I saw a fresh fish sales corner in front of me and a dining area with a counter, tables, and raised seating in the back left. I sat at the counter seat without asking and looked at the lunch menu. The seafood bowl was 1300 yen including tax, and if you add 300 yen, you get tempura, but I decided to pass on it. The staff didn't ask me, probably judging by my appearance that I didn't have money. The dish was served in about 6-7 minutes, with white rice, chopped seaweed, beautiful thick slices of amberjack, grunt, salmon, sea bream, and tuna sashimi (2 pieces each), with flying fish roe and cucumber in the middle. I was impressed by the thickness of the sashimi, and the sesame dressing was provided. I decided not to use the wasabi on the side and only eat it with the sesame dressing. The freshness was outstanding, and each piece was enjoyable to savor. The rice portion was a bit small, and there was too much sashimi, but overall, the seafood bowl was excellent. The chawanmushi was a half-size with chicken, clam, shiitake mushroom, and ginkgo nuts, and the miso soup, although slightly light, was still tasty with tofu and seaweed. The side dish was cold tofu with green onions. Overall, I had no complaints, and I was glad I came. By lunchtime, despite the recent events, the number of customers had increased. I wonder if this new restaurant will be able to compete with Matsukatsu. I will try something different next time.
