I went to a tempura restaurant in Osaka for lunch! I ordered a mini tempura bowl and duck hot pot set!!!! The tempura was incredibly delicious, especially the shiso leaf on top of the rice, it was seriously the best. I thought the duck hot pot would be just a side dish, but when I tried it, it was unbelievably delicious just like the tempura!!!! The cost performance was great and I definitely want to go back here!!!!

After shopping in Umeda, I decided to have lunch at Shinkiraku. This is a place I used to frequent when my office was located in Nishi Umeda. I arrived around 12:40 pm and the restaurant was about 60% full. I was seated at a counter where I could see the tempura being prepared. I ordered the following:
- Anago Tempura Donburi Set @2000 yen
- Large bottle of Kirin Lager beer @770 yen
I had to wait about 10 minutes for my tempura donburi to arrive. It came with tempura, a mini duck hot pot, a small side dish, and pickles. The side dish of the day was ganmodoki. The tempura included anago (conger eel), 2 prawns, pumpkin, shiitake mushroom, and broccoli. The anago was cut in half, which was different from other places. The broccoli tempura was a unique touch. The tempura dipping sauce was light and allowed me to enjoy it until the end. And of course, Shinkiraku is known for its duck hot pot. It had duck, leeks, tofu, beaten egg, and a simple yet delicious flavor. I used to come here a lot for business dinners, and this duck hot pot always saved me after a night of heavy drinking. It had been about 5 years since my last visit, but the nostalgic taste and excellent service remained the same, which made me happy. Since it's not too far from my current office, I would like to come back for lunch sometime soon.

Hilton West (Hilton Hotel) B2F "Shin Kigaku" Actually, when I came to eat steak nearby, it was sold out. It's still only 11:30, so maybe they couldn't get the ingredients in time? I didn't feel like compromising and eating another menu... I remember there was a Japanese restaurant on the same floor that caught my eye. There are shelves under the counter and tables. Women are seated at tables if available. At 11:30, 80% full, and full by noon. Gender ratio is 5:5. The turnover is fast. ★ Mini Tempura & Mini Duck Hot Pot set tax included 950 yen It has cooled down from today, so I wore a thick jacket. It feels nice even when walking outside. On a day like this, hot pot sounds good. There are three chefs in the kitchen. The sound of tempura being fried♪ After about 3 minutes, it was served. The mini tempura and mini duck hot pot are not that big. First, I tried the soup of the duck hot pot. It's lightly salt-based, but it has a rich taste. The slightly spicy sansho pepper is addictive. The egg and plenty of green onions with tofu are also good. The tempura has 3 plump shrimp. The rice is firm and well-cooked. Surprisingly, it was quite a generous portion. I finished the duck hot pot soup of course. The pickles were also very delicious (^-^) There was a box in front of the cash register with "Tempura Scraps, please" written on it. I wanted it, but it didn't fit in my bag and I felt embarrassed so I gave up.

I once came here before and found this shop closed, so I went to a nearby store instead. I'm glad it wasn't closed this time. Finally, I could come in. I checked the outdoor menu. I ordered the "Mini Tempura Rice Bowl and Mini Duck Hot Pot Set." They asked me if I wanted the tempura rice bowl with salt or sauce, which was nice to have the option to choose. The duck hot pot was served piping hot with a light and slightly salty broth. It had a generous amount of duck meat, green onions, and a bit of tofu. The portion size was just right for a mini set, any more might have been too much. It was delicious with the flavor I like. The tempura rice bowl had a deep bowl with plenty of rice. It included 3 small shrimp tempura, sweet potato, broccoli, seaweed, shiso, and yukari seasoning. It was a tasty and light combination. I could eat it quickly. The pickles served on the side included pickled daikon, mizuna greens, and kelp, all of which I like. Even small details like this make me rate the restaurant highly. The staff were all friendly and the price of 950 yen for this quality and quantity is fantastic given the location. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely visit again.

Near Osaka Station, in the basement of the Hyatt. It's a lively place with salarymen, giving off a nostalgic Showa era vibe. The beer comes in short but thick mugs, almost like German style? I was happy to see the sake served in small glass cups. I had the squid tempura, simple and good. It's the kind of place where you can see salarymen drinking and venting about work, while their seniors comfort them. I should have ordered more tempura.

I first tried the duck hot pot at Shinkiraku over 25 years ago in the dining area of Shin Umeda. Since they opened a shop in Hilton Plaza, I come here more often because it's closer. I am always drawn to the deliciousness of this broth. I try different menu items, but this one is my favorite. Of course, the tempura is also delicious. Other menu items are also tasty!

☆彡At a restaurant with tempura and duck hot pot as its signature dishes, the lunch counter seats were bustling with chefs preparing dishes. Despite the busy lunchtime rush at most restaurants, watching the cooking process was enjoyable and made time fly by quickly. The ordered dishes were promptly served, creating a sense of satisfaction (*´ ꒳ `*)○ I ordered the mini duck hot pot and conger eel tempura rice bowl set (1,705 yen). The bowl was large, but the rice bowl was filled with plenty of toppings. The conger eel and two shrimp tempura were cut into easy-to-eat sizes. Unlike the typical tempura rice bowl, the sauce was light and easy to eat. When I heard "conger eel tempura rice bowl," I imagined tenderly steamed conger eel, but it wasn't that elaborate, so it felt more like a common dish. When I heard "duck hot pot," I pictured duck breast meat, but it turned out to be a pot of dashi broth with egg like a parent and child rice bowl. The spiciness of the sansho pepper stood out, but otherwise, there was nothing particularly new. In terms of whether it's high-end or common, it leans more towards the common side, with most customers being elderly. It seems to be a taste of tradition (^ω^*) I'm on Instagram @ginjirou.star

The location is in the basement of Hilton in Umeda, so the location is good. I'm not sure about parking services, but I imagine there are many train users. The lunch at Hilton Plaza is always popular for people on a break from work, and it has a good reputation for being delicious and relaxing. It was my first time visiting "Shinkiraku". We arrived a little after 12 o'clock and had to wait a bit, but we were seated at a table for 6 people with just 2 of us, which felt a bit awkward. We ordered the Tororo set meal for 1,100 yen, and the daily special for 950 yen. The Tororo set meal was already seasoned when it was served. I chose sashimi over tempura, and it was decent. I changed the rice to barley rice. After enjoying the sashimi and simmered dishes, I savored the Tororo rice. The Tororo had a refined flavor and was so delicious that I vowed to try making it at home soon (laughs). The simmered dish had a seasoning that I didn't particularly like, but overall it was in the realm of delicious. Since it's a Japanese restaurant, I think the presentation is beautiful. For those who need a larger portion, tempura might be a good choice. The daily special for my companion was a mini shrimp tempura rice bowl and a mini duck hotpot udon. I tried the duck hotpot and it was a satisfying, mature flavor. It was a dish with duck hotpot seasoned with sansho pepper, where you could enjoy the udon. The unique seasoning makes it worth a try if you're not averse to duck or sansho pepper. The fact that your body warms up after eating is a selling point that seems to appeal to women working in offices. If you want to enjoy original Japanese cuisine during lunchtime, I recommend it. Thank you for the meal! I will visit again.

I found out that they serve duck hot pot here. I wandered around until I found this place. The duck pieces are small but thick, and there are plenty of vegetables. The green onions and sansho pepper give it a strong flavor. The daily specials were small duck hot pot and eel rice bowl, I should have chosen the former. I got hungry again soon after eating. I also want to try their tempura.

This is a set of assorted tempura and duck hot pot. The duck hot pot has a strong flavor of sansho pepper and is incredibly delicious, perfect for soothing a hangover stomach. The tempura includes 3 prawns, squid, pumpkin, shiitake mushrooms, broccoli (!), and more. You can also find it in the Hankyu Umeda dining area. The only downside is that the atmosphere is spoiled by the kitchen staff who seem to be overly critical of the waitresses, making for an unpleasant experience.

When I stepped out a bit from the underground restaurant floor of the Hilton Hotel, I found a hidden gem! The atmosphere was inviting and the specialty seemed to be duck hot pot, but the duck meat was tough and not particularly delicious, while the broth was tasty. The tempura set meal I ordered was decently delicious. The rice was a bit dry and got stuck in my teeth. The portion size was not as large as expected. Hmm, maybe it wasn't such a hidden gem after all. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to Shin Kigaku, it's a delicious restaurant known for its "tempura" and "duck hot pot." However, today I tried something different, the "chicken meatball miso hot pot set meal." The hot pot had about 5 chicken meatballs in a tasty miso broth, and it was very filling and had a great flavor. The rice was cooked slightly firm and was very delicious. You can get free refills too. This restaurant always has long lines, but it's easier to get in after 1 pm. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. ☀️

I was looking for a place for Sunday lunch and found Hilton Plaza because all the restaurants in the underground mall were closed. I thought that dining in a hotel would be expensive, but I discovered that they offer a daily special for 930 yen. The daily special included a mini shrimp tempura rice bowl and a mini duck hot pot, so I decided to order it without hesitation. While waiting, I noticed that the restaurant looked quite upscale for a tempura place. The mini shrimp tempura rice bowl had three small shrimp tempura on top of rice sprinkled with seasoning, and it was delicious. It also came with sweet potato and broccoli tempura. The duck hot pot was served with a light and tasty egg topping, although it was slightly salty. Overall, dining at Hilton Plaza and getting a set meal with freshly fried tempura for less than 1,000 yen was a great deal in terms of cost performance.

Shinkiraku is located in the Hilton Plaza store in the New Umeda Dining District, and it is said to have originated in Hozoji Yokocho. The Hilton Plaza store is very popular for lunch, with long lines even at 1 pm. I ordered the daily lunch special, which was a mini tempura bowl and mini duck hot pot udon. The tempura bowl had 3 shrimp and 1 broccoli, while the duck hot pot udon had delicious and chewy duck meat. You can get a free extra serving of rice with the tempura bowl, and they also give you free tempura scraps to take home. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

Located in the basement of the Hilton Hotel, this restaurant offers a great deal with their set menu of Ebi Shio Tendon and Duck Nabe Udon for 930 yen. The Ebi Shio Tendon includes small yet plump shrimp tempura, broccoli tempura, and enoki mushroom tempura on a bed of rice seasoned with shiso salt. The Duck Nabe Udon has a flavorful broth with a hint of sansho pepper. The duck meat provides a satisfying chewy texture. You can also get a free extra serving of rice. They serve three types of delicious pickles as well. I believe that a restaurant with tasty pickles also serves delicious food. A delicious lunch is always a delight. Thank you for the meal. ☀️

I was taken by my colleague in Osaka to a delicious duck hot pot restaurant. It is a tempura restaurant in Hilton Plaza in Nishi-Umeda. During lunchtime, it is full of businessmen from nearby. I ordered the daily lunch set, which included duck hot pot with udon and conger eel tempura rice bowl. The udon in the duck hot pot was soft and chewy. The broth had a subtle duck flavor. However, there was only a small amount of duck meat. The conger eel tempura rice bowl also had various vegetable tempura on top. It was just the right amount for a small rice bowl. The tempura dipping sauce was not the usual sweet and salty soy sauce, but more like a dashi-based sauce. Is this kind of tempura dipping sauce common in Kansai? The broth of the duck hot pot was delicious. It warmed up my body!

No matter when you go, this restaurant always has a line. I went in after 1pm and it wasn't crowded. I tried the assorted hot pot set meal. The soup had a perfect amount of salt and the ingredients were delicious. I later found out that the duck hot pot is also delicious. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal. ☀

On my day off, I went to Umeda for lunch. The restaurant I visited that day was Shinkiraku on the 2nd floor of Hilton Plaza East. Since I arrived a bit early, the restaurant was not crowded yet. I sat at a table and checked the lunch menu. The daily special set for that day was a mini shrimp salt tempura rice bowl and duck hot pot. There were also menus with pictures. Although I was tempted by the daily special set, I was quite hungry so I chose the Uzushi salt set. After placing my order, it didn't take long for the Uzushi salt set to arrive. It was quite a generous portion with the shrimp salt tempura rice bowl, duck hot pot, salad, side dish, and pickles. I started with the shrimp salt tempura rice bowl, which had plenty of crispy tempura on top of rice sprinkled with chopped seaweed and sesame. The tempura was perfectly fried and delicious. I also enjoy tempura rice bowls with dipping sauce, but this salt tempura rice bowl was also very tasty and satisfying. The duck hot pot was served with a thickened egg, plenty of duck meat, green onions, and tofu. It was piping hot and tasted delicious. After finishing the shrimp salt tempura rice bowl and the duck hot pot, I was full and satisfied. The daily special set, which included a mini shrimp salt tempura rice bowl and duck hot pot, was priced at a reasonable 880 yen including tax. I had never tried a salt tempura rice bowl before, but it was a different kind of deliciousness compared to the dipping sauce version. I would definitely like to come back to try more dishes at Shinkiraku.

Lunch in Umeda! I explored the Hilton Plaza underground that I had been curious about for a while. It feels a bit more high-class compared to the underground of the station building I usually go to, which is nice. I entered a tempura restaurant called "Tenpura-ya." Looking at the menu, the prices are surprisingly under 1000 yen, which is quite cheap for a tempura restaurant. So, I splurged a bit and ordered the "Joten Don" for 2160 yen. Now, the eagerly awaited Joten Don has been served. Hmm... Wait, is this really a Joten Don? The shrimp is really small... The eel is there, but the tempura looks kind of meager. It's good that there's not too much batter, but the crispy texture is lacking. When I tried it, the ingredients were decent, but the taste of the dipping sauce was unique, almost like a salty ramen soup, which I don't think goes well with tempura. The sauce was too much, and the rice ended up like porridge. I couldn't finish the rice and left half of it. It's rare to come across a tempura dish that doesn't suit my taste this much. I was surprised by the tiny shrimp tempura in the so-called Joten Don. It's quite a high-class Joten Don, isn't it?
