#Meat Festival #Friday is Curry Day Today's lunch is in Showa-cho, an Indian and Nepalese cuisine restaurant. I had the deer meat Sekuwa, which is marinated in spices, skewered, and cooked in a tandoor oven, for 650 yen. The lunch special allows you to choose two types of curry for 1350 yen. I chose Butter Chicken Curry and Seafood Curry at spice level 8. I also had a half-sized Naan with Milk Pudding topped with Mango Sauce for dessert. I opted for a Hot Chai drink. The deer meat was tender and delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed Jun's curry after a long time. It turned out to be a delightful lunch as my companion who happened to walk in also joined us for the meal. #OsakaGourmet #OsakaLunch #NepaleseCuisine

I ordered the special lunch set (1350 yen) which came with two types of curry, tandoori chicken wings, salad, drink, and dessert. I chose chicken sag and seafood curry, with a mango lassi for my drink. I like spicy food, and the medium spiciness level here was just right for me. The curries had a good balance of flavors, with plenty of ingredients. The dessert was a coconut pudding with mango sauce, which was delicious until the last bite. Thank you for the meal.

I have visited this restaurant multiple times. It is run by a friendly couple and two Nepalese chefs. The place is popular among locals and can also be used as an izakaya at night. The wife's highball is perfectly balanced and has a unique Nepalese twist. The menu mainly consists of curry with naan as a staple. They also offer dal bhat. There are various types of curry and naan available, including daily specials so you won't get bored. My favorite dishes are the fried catfish and spicy edamame.

I tried the Biryani that I was curious about. It was different from the Biryani I often eat from Shin's Kitchen or Alie's Kitchen, with a moist texture. The mutton curry here is creamy, unlike the clear and oily ones you often see, which feels fresh.

I use this place often both during the day and at night. During the day, I usually get the cheese naan set or occasionally the dal bhat. At night, it can also be used like an izakaya. The difference from typical Indian or Nepalese restaurants is the presence of panipuri. It's really delicious when you put the panipuri in the pani and eat it in one bite. It's made of fried potatoes and wheat flour, so be careful not to overeat.

There are not many restaurants in the area that offer authentic Dal Bhat, so I decided to try this place based on rumors. I ordered the Dal Bhat set (1300 yen). The dal and tarkari were rich in flavor with just the right amount of spices, and there were many types of achaar to choose from. The attention to detail in the seasoning and pickling process was evident, and the taste and tanginess were perfect. The rice was fragrant and slightly sweet, made with my favorite basmati rice. After tasting each element separately, I mixed everything together. The overall harmony of flavors was delicious (very different from typical Japanese curry, with some dishes being more tangy and each ingredient having its own unique flavor). The restaurant was clean, with several impressive dining tables and plenty of seating space to relax. The kitchen staff seemed to be from the original country, while the service was provided by a Japanese owner and staff who were friendly and attentive. Despite being located near the station, the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful, with faint exotic music playing in the background. In addition to popular dishes like curry, naan, and chicken, there were also rare options like game meat, appetizers, and snacks, making it a fun and enjoyable experience for both food and drink lovers. It was a very good lunch experience.

Friday is curry day. Today's lunch is at Showa-cho, an Indian and Nepalese cuisine restaurant called Jun. They have various affordable set menus, but I opted for a simple single item - Keema curry for 680 yen. You can add half portion of rice for 300 yen. The curry comes in different levels of spiciness, and I chose the "extremely spicy" option. It has a creamy coconut flavor and is garnished with a cute egg. #OsakaGourmet

Friday is curry day, and for today's lunch I went to a restaurant called Jun in Showa-cho that serves Indian and Nepalese cuisine. I tried their deer meat curry for 1500 yen, which was tender and filled with chunks of deer meat. The dish also came with various side dishes, making it quite filling. I asked for half the amount of rice, but it was still a substantial portion of Basmati rice. You can choose the level of spiciness for the curry, and I opted for extra spicy, which made me sweat a little by the end of the meal. The lunch set also included a warm chai tea and a special cake. Tonight is Christmas Eve, so it was a nice way to start the festivities. #OsakaLunch #OsakaGourmet

On March 27, 2021, I ordered the daily lunch special A set and the naan was large and very satisfying. Today's daily special was chicken curry with water eggplant, and it was delicious. You can also choose the level of spiciness, so I think anyone can enjoy it. I would like to go back again.

Dal Bhat for 1200 yen! (with a soft drink) What is Dal Bhat anyway? It is a traditional Nepalese dish consisting of dal (lentil soup) and bhat (rice), along with curry-flavored vegetables and pickles. It is a set meal with these four items included. I asked the staff and they mentioned that even vegetarians can enjoy it! Mixing dal (like curry) with vegetable side dishes and rice feels a bit naughty when eating out... But if they tell you to mix it, you just have to, right?! It's delicious! For those who usually eat medium spicy food like Barmondo, asking for it to be less spicy might be just right! But apparently, it's tastier when it's spicier, so that's a dilemma... And isn't it great to have hot chai as a soft drink option?! They even make it in a pot after your meal... It's not too sweet if you don't add sugar, just a hint of spice and the creaminess of the milk is amazing... Truly a spice restaurant! I got really full! The portion is bigger than it looks in the photos! It's not too oily, so maybe it's healthy? Highly recommended!

Set A costs 800 yen and comes with salad, curry, naan, and a soft drink. I ordered the Keema curry. The curry was Keema, but creamy and easy to eat. It had plenty of minced meat and paired well with the naan. The hot chai I ordered as a soft drink had just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness, making it perfect for after the meal.

When I feel like having cheese naan, I come here recently. Compared to other Indian curry restaurants, they have a wide variety of curries and naans, including dal bhat and game meat. The curries come in 6 levels of spiciness, so I chose level 5 for the spicy butter chicken curry. The cheese naan was delicious with hot, melty cheese. The curry was also generously served, and I left feeling satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

"I really want to eat naan." My wife has been nagging me about this for a few days. Well, for the sake of my cute wife, I'm willing to do anything. Let's go eat naan! Even if I end up being the "naan man," that's fine. It's a pun, haha. We visited "Jun," a newly opened restaurant in front of Showa-cho Station. I had been planning to go there soon after hearing about it from an acquaintance. The restaurant, located along Matsumushi Street, was easy to find. I had the impression that Indian and Nepalese cuisine restaurants have dim lighting and a dark atmosphere, but "Jun" was quite bright. It had a clean and welcoming vibe, which I personally preferred. My wife, who has poor eyesight and struggles to read menus in dimly lit places, was delighted to find that the menu was easy to read here. Looking at the menu, we saw that they offered dinner sets as well as a wide selection of individual dishes. And the prices were quite reasonable and budget-friendly. After some consideration, my wife chose Dinner Set B (1300 yen) with naan and two types of curry (chicken and pork, both medium spicy) along with a mango lassi. I opted for the "Cho-nomi" set (830 yen) which included one appetizer and a drink of my choice. I chose the Shish Kabab as my appetizer and a Kingfisher beer. In Indian restaurants, it's rare to find pork dishes, so the pork curry was quite unique. We started with beer, papadums, and the salad from the dinner set. The crispy papadums paired well with the beer. The fresh vegetable salad was a nice palate cleanser. The Shish Kabab was spicy and delicious. Finally, the awaited naan and curries arrived. The naan was soft and fluffy, although my wife prefers it to be crispier on the outside. The curries were mild yet flavorful, with a thick and rich consistency that was quite addictive. We also tried the Chicken Tikka from the dinner set, which was forgettable. Intrigued by other dishes on the menu, I ordered the Tandoori Grilled Venison (600 yen), which was tender and flavorful, perfect with beer. The Momo (400 yen for 4 pieces) resembled a dumpling and did not disappoint. The Samosa (250 yen each) was a favorite of mine, the perfect combination of sweet and oily flavors. My wife was full, but I wanted to try more dishes. We decided to try the Palak Paneer (880 yen), a curry made with homemade cheese and spinach. The cheese had a unique texture, and it paired well with the creamy spinach curry. It was delicious! We also had two more beers on top of the Kingfisher I ordered. The total bill for all the food and drinks was surprisingly affordable at 5900 yen. We were impressed by the delicious food, friendly service, and reasonable prices at this restaurant. We look forward to returning to try more dishes in the future. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Deer Curry Set The curry made with deer meat is served with a spicy paste on the side, which you mix in little by little as you eat. There were three types of paste, but personally, I didn't really like any of them. Additionally, there were various side dishes like spinach, but they were also not very good. The deer meat curry itself was delicious. The deer meat was light and tasted similar to beef. Raw carrots and daikon were served on the side, but they were too hard to eat. Why serve them raw?

Located a short walk east from the 3rd exit of the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line Showacho Station, this Indian-Nepalese restaurant opened in June 2020. I visited for lunch. The modestly decorated Nepalese-style interior features a large table near the entrance, table seating in the back, and 3 counter seats facing the kitchen, totaling 23 seats. The restaurant is run by a Japanese couple and two Nepalese cooks. The menu includes various curries, naan bread, and tandoori dishes, with deer meat curry catching the eye. However, the dish to order is the Nepal Set (1,200 yen), a traditional meal called Dal Bhat. The set arrived promptly, with rice in the center surrounded by lentil soup, vegetable curry, sautéed vegetables, pickles, papadum, and fresh vegetables. The lentil soup was light and subtly spiced with a hint of coriander. The vegetable curry was flavorful with potatoes, broccoli, edamame, and onions. Mixing the various dishes with rice created a delightful blend of flavors and aromas. Despite feeling quite full, I ended the meal with a hot chai tea, enjoying its unique spiced flavor. The satisfaction level of the Dal Bhat was high, and I look forward to trying the deer meat curry on my next visit.

Located just a short distance from Showacho intersection, this restaurant has a convenient location. When I visited after a long time, I noticed that the interior decorations with fabrics, ornaments, posters, etc., gave off a slight Nepalese vibe. This time, I will share a set of voluminous Naan that I heard about in reviews, with a friend - we chose Cheese Naan and Plain Naan. Spicy edamame seems to be a popular dish at restaurants and izakayas these days. It may be intentional to cater to izakaya-goers as well? I didn't expect to be able to choose edamame at an Indian/Nepalese restaurant. It's messy to eat, but it's enough to go with two glasses of alcohol (laughs). The curries we chose were not too spicy. They were mild and safe, catering to families and those who are not good with spicy food. The Cheese Naan was cut into fan-shaped pieces. It was surprising to see it cut! It can be eaten with a pizza-like feeling. The creamy cheese with a decent elasticity is soft and delicious. Many reviews mention the huge volume of Naan, but these days, many Indian and Nepalese restaurants serve giant Cheese Naan. I didn't feel it was particularly large. I prefer more side dishes like Dal Bhat and Naan sets. Tarkari (vegetable side dish) is also a plus for me. Tandoori Chicken is a normal dish, but it's a favorite of mine. Overall, the use of spices is mild and subtle, seemingly catering to Japanese, children, and families. I wish they had something unique on the menu that makes you say, "You have to try this!" It would be nice to have something like the immensely popular "Chai Pudding Parfait" or large desserts! In the cafe-like atmosphere of this restaurant, I couldn't help but imagine such things. Well, that's just my two cents \(•ㅂ•)/

I visited a restaurant opened by two Nepalese craftsmen and a Japanese owner. The place was quite busy with customers, including a group of four ladies from Showa-cho. Many people mentioned they came because they saw the restaurant on social media. The large naan bread overflowing from the plates seemed to be a popular choice, especially the cheese naan. However, I was in the mood for a meal, so I opted for the "Nepal Set" priced at 1,200 yen. It came with a drink, and I chose the unique black tea. The set included dal (bean soup), vegetable curry, papadum, cucumber-carrot-onion salad, green chili achar, red chili achar, three side dishes, and rice. The dal was light in flavor despite its dark color, and the vegetable curry was mild and lacked spiciness. The side dishes were vegetable-centric but lacked the depth of Nepalese flavors I was hoping for. The rice was a bit too moist, which was disappointing. Overall, the restaurant seemed to lack the authentic Nepalese atmosphere in its decor and ambiance. I felt that enhancing the Asian vibe in the interior design could improve the overall dining experience. I may return to try the naan lunch set next time.

I visited this restaurant around 11:45 on July 21st (Tuesday). The owner is someone who is followed on Instagram, and many other followers have also visited the shop. I had been wanting to visit, and since I had business in Osaka on this day, I was finally able to fulfill my wish. I learned about Sag Curry for the first time! It contains spinach. I was also recommended to try Black Chai, but since it was my first time, I opted for the Hot Chai with milk. I'd like to try the Black Chai next time. The naan was very large, overflowing even! I noticed they also had rice, so maybe I'll try that next time? It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

It seems like they have various new menu items coming out, which is exciting! Enjoyable(^-^)。。。
