"I really want to eat naan." My wife has been nagging me about this for a few days. Well, for the sake of my cute wife, I'm willing to do anything. Let's go eat naan! Even if I end up being the "naan man," that's fine. It's a pun, haha. We visited "Jun," a newly opened restaurant in front of Showa-cho Station. I had been planning to go there soon after hearing about it from an acquaintance. The restaurant, located along Matsumushi Street, was easy to find. I had the impression that Indian and Nepalese cuisine restaurants have dim lighting and a dark atmosphere, but "Jun" was quite bright. It had a clean and welcoming vibe, which I personally preferred. My wife, who has poor eyesight and struggles to read menus in dimly lit places, was delighted to find that the menu was easy to read here. Looking at the menu, we saw that they offered dinner sets as well as a wide selection of individual dishes. And the prices were quite reasonable and budget-friendly. After some consideration, my wife chose Dinner Set B (1300 yen) with naan and two types of curry (chicken and pork, both medium spicy) along with a mango lassi. I opted for the "Cho-nomi" set (830 yen) which included one appetizer and a drink of my choice. I chose the Shish Kabab as my appetizer and a Kingfisher beer. In Indian restaurants, it's rare to find pork dishes, so the pork curry was quite unique. We started with beer, papadums, and the salad from the dinner set. The crispy papadums paired well with the beer. The fresh vegetable salad was a nice palate cleanser. The Shish Kabab was spicy and delicious. Finally, the awaited naan and curries arrived. The naan was soft and fluffy, although my wife prefers it to be crispier on the outside. The curries were mild yet flavorful, with a thick and rich consistency that was quite addictive. We also tried the Chicken Tikka from the dinner set, which was forgettable. Intrigued by other dishes on the menu, I ordered the Tandoori Grilled Venison (600 yen), which was tender and flavorful, perfect with beer. The Momo (400 yen for 4 pieces) resembled a dumpling and did not disappoint. The Samosa (250 yen each) was a favorite of mine, the perfect combination of sweet and oily flavors. My wife was full, but I wanted to try more dishes. We decided to try the Palak Paneer (880 yen), a curry made with homemade cheese and spinach. The cheese had a unique texture, and it paired well with the creamy spinach curry. It was delicious! We also had two more beers on top of the Kingfisher I ordered. The total bill for all the food and drinks was surprisingly affordable at 5900 yen. We were impressed by the delicious food, friendly service, and reasonable prices at this restaurant. We look forward to returning to try more dishes in the future. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
