I visited "Sanku" around 8 am on a weekday, but they had already sold out of their "morning lunch" set. So I went a little further to "Komugiya". I had decided on trying the "katsu-don" next time after my last visit, but I was feeling a bit too hungry for that, and I came to Fukushima to eat udon with tamago kake gohan, so I had their 380 yen breakfast set. It was a luxurious breakfast with delicious udon and tamago kake gohan for only 380 yen. I hope to try their recommended "katsu-don" someday. Thank you for the meal ☆☆☆

Monday to Friday, starting from 7:30 in the morning, they offer a morning service. When I visited around 8 o'clock on a weekday, there were three people seated at the counter enjoying their morning udon. I ordered the udon set for 380 yen, which included kake udon, raw egg, and rice. The udon was "haikara" style, which I was happy about. The broth was light and clear, and the noodles were nice. The rice portion was decent, and I felt like it was a good deal for 380 yen. I also noticed that they offer my favorite katsudon for 500 yen in the morning, so I definitely want to try the "katsudon set" next time. Thank you for the meal. 3.39/5 stars.

I heard that they recently started morning business, so I visited right away. They open at 7:30 am on weekdays. Despite the small appearance from the outside, the interior has a decent depth. It's a counter-only shop with a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere, like a traditional Japanese udon restaurant. Across the national highway, there is a famous shop on the south side, but I was also curious about this place! - Udon Set: It includes udon and tamago kake gohan (rice with raw egg). The udon noodles are thin and have a smooth texture, making it easy to slurp. The broth is made from Kansai's bonito and kelp, although it feels slightly lacking in flavor. The tamago kake gohan features a very rich yellow yolk, known as Rano Tamago Gohan. It has a slightly sticky texture and a noticeably intense flavor of the yolk. Mixing it with rice enhances the rich taste of the yolk, making it a visually appealing dish. The cost performance is excellent at only 380 yen for this set, making it a great value for the price. The menu is extensive, with various toppings available. Given the location, it seems like a suitable spot for office workers to have lunch. In the early morning, a mother was running the shop alone. It's a nice and calm place. Thank you for the meal. The Udon Set costs 380 yen.

"I feel like having katsudon today" - those days come a few times a month, right? When I searched near my company, I found a udon restaurant. They only have counter seats. It seems crowded around 12 o'clock lunchtime, but the service speed has increased recently, so the turnover rate is faster. Now, onto the main topic. I have been to this restaurant several times, always ordering katsudon, so this time I decided to try the small shrimp bowl (large size) that I had been curious about. A simple bowl with small shrimp fried and wrapped in egg. The shrimp is plump and the seasoning is a bit strong, but it makes the rice go down smoothly. I finished it in a few minutes, had the complimentary pickles, and left. They accept PayPay. One thing that bothered me was that the ventilation fan was not running, so the smell of oil filled the air, and even after returning to the office, the smell of oil lingered. Other than that, there is nothing to complain about. It was a pleasant afternoon that made me feel like I'll be having shrimp for a while. Non-smoking establishment."

Today's lunch was the Wagyu beef curry udon (¥800), which had a fantastic aroma of dashi. Just the smell alone when it was placed in front of me was great! It was packed and lively today, with a great atmosphere. The chef at the back of the counter was also very charming (laughs). The ingredients were cooked perfectly and the flavors had seeped in well. There was plenty of sliced Wagyu beef, more than I had imagined. The curry had a well-rounded flavor with no sharp edges, really seeping into your body. The udon had a strong chewiness, with a good bounce when you bite into it, and a sweet taste of wheat. It was a lively atmosphere with lots of people, but it also had a nostalgic feel to it. Visited on January 4, 2021. Today's lunch was delicious "katsu-don" at "Komugiya," a Japanese-style dashi restaurant near the company. It's a counter-only shop and it's often full during lunchtime, but I was able to visit first because they just opened for the New Year on January 4th and I arrived at 11 am. Although I was thinking of having a rice bowl, I felt like having "curry udon" while looking at the menu, so I ordered "Wagyu beef Japanese curry udon" and "steamed rice." The hot curry broth blends well with the noodles made from a blend of Hokkaido and Ise wheat, aged at low temperature for 48 hours, creating a delicious dish. I tried to eat slowly to avoid splashing the broth, but it's hard to avoid when eating curry udon. Good thing I had a paper apron on (laughs). #Fukushima #udon #Komugiya

The summer heat continues to be sweltering during the day and night even though we have passed the Bon Festival. I decided to visit a restaurant called "Komugiya" in Fukushima, which is close to my workplace. As the name suggests, they mainly serve udon noodles. I ordered the most popular set menu which includes a bowl dish and a mini udon. The top recommendation was the Katsudon, but I chose the second most popular option, the "Small Shrimp Bowl" with cold mini udon. The bowl arrived first, filled with small shrimp and eggs over rice. The shrimp was plump and delicious, but the rice was a bit too hard for my liking. As I ate the udon, I let the rice soak up the broth to soften it. The mini udon was simple, with only chopped green onions as toppings. The noodles were thick and chewy, made from Hokkaido wheat flour. The broth was just right, not too sweet or salty. I wished I had ordered a larger size of udon and a smaller bowl, but I wasn't recommended to do so. After finishing the udon, I went back to the bowl and found that the rice had softened nicely from soaking up the broth. The set cost ¥870. I couldn't help but compare it to the lunch prices in Honmachi.

The katsudon is undeniably delicious. The udon is also good with a firm texture typical of Sanuki udon, but the katsudon with tender egg and flavorful cutlet is the best. It's always crowded during lunchtime, but it's worth the wait. Thank you for the meal.

Udon is recommended, especially the vegetable and meat udon. Despite going after the lunchtime peak due to the current situation, the place was packed from the back and empty at the entrance. The male staff at the counter was not wearing a mask while serving, which was very disappointing.

I sometimes go for lunch, but the wait is too long! If I go before 12 o'clock, I have to wait for over 30 minutes. I feel like the turnover is too slow at this restaurant. The katsudon and prawn bowl are delicious though. It's a shame.
