Established in 1892, the traditional Japanese confectionery store Mukashin, with 18 stores in South Osaka, has recently opened a bakery! They relocated their confectionery factory and turned the space into a bakery. The name of the store, "HUG," is derived from the location of the store, Hagurazaki. Each bread is baked little by little inside the store, so they are almost always freshly baked. When you order pizza, they bake it on the spot. The nearby foreign pizza shop must be quite annoyed (laughs). The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. Although the white bread is a bit pricey (720 yen), it must be delicious when freshly baked. Since it used to be a Japanese confectionery store, the "anpan" seems to be particularly popular. Even after being open for more than two months, there are still lines during the day.
I ordered:
- Rich Milk Bread: 150 yen (including 8% tax)
- Walnut Bread: 150 yen
- Homemade Red Bean Paste Bread from HUG: 140 yen
- Chestnut Pie: 220 yen
- Afternoon Black Tea: 150 yen
Thank you for the meal.

I visited the shop around 5:45 pm, close to closing time, so there were only 5-6 types of bread left, with only 1-3 pieces of each. I bought a chestnut bread. It was like a Milk France, with soft French bread sandwiching chestnut cream. Both the chestnut cream and the bread were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Visited for the second time on Sunday around noon♡ The shop was quite crowded. It was either because it was Sunday or bad timing... there were many empty spots, but that just shows how popular it is. The bread I bought this time ☟
◎ Cream Pan from HUG ¥150
◎ Chikuwa Bread (Mentaiko) ¥250
◎ Quail Keema Curry Bread ¥240
◎ Thick Tamago Coppe ¥230
The most intriguing was the "Thick Tamago Coppe." The thickly cooked egg almost spills out of the coppe bread. Both the coppe bread and the egg are fluffy and delicious. It's filling but easy to eat. They also have pizza, which is baked upon order. The prices are reasonable, there is also a dining space, and the parking lot is spacious and easy to park. Definitely check it out♡

My freezer is stocked with bread from Hug Bakery that I received as a gift before. The bread is delicious, so I asked my friend to bring me more. They are all delicious! The taste of the well-grown wheat is amazing. Eating any of them makes me happy. I recommend them to my friends, and I also want to visit the store myself.

HUG BAKERY, a bakery run by the Japanese confectionery shop "Mukashin," offers a wide variety of bread, from sweet to savory. The store was bustling with customers. The pastries, created by Mukashin, are definitely a must-try, but the savory bread is also delicious. There is also seating available inside the store, where you can enjoy your treats.

A popular local Japanese confectionery shop, Mukashin, has opened a bakery. It was very crowded at first, but it seems to have finally calmed down recently, so I went to check it out in the afternoon. The parking lot was quite spacious and I was able to park easily that day. The store was also spacious with many large baskets on display, but there were several empty baskets indicating sold out items. The baguette I wanted was also sold out. I tried the homemade red bean paste bread for 140 yen, which was a round bread filled with delicious red bean paste from the confectionery shop. It was cheap for the quality. I also tried the Tamago Coppe for 220 yen, made with eggs from a local farm. The egg was very tasty and generously filled. Among the egg breads sold at nearby bakeries, this one is currently my favorite in terms of taste, quantity, and price. I also tried the cream bread for 140 yen and the Kinpira Oyaki-style bread for 210 yen. It's great to have affordable and delicious bread here, but it's a shame that many items were sold out in the afternoon. The variety of products was not as expected given the size of the store. I hope they can improve their production capacity and product lineup in the future.

I visited the store on a Monday afternoon in January around 3:00 PM. I purchased one loaf of Hug's Rich Bread for 720 yen and a homemade red bean paste bread for 140 yen. There were counter seats on the right side of the exit, but it seemed like they were for eating in. No one was using them. The store was moderately crowded. It seems to be popular. The bread was not to my liking, lacking a chewy texture and sweetness, but the pastries were good value for money. If I were to visit again, I would focus on trying the pastries.

I had been curious about this bakery even before it opened. Right after opening, there were security guards on duty because it was so popular. Today, I was able to buy without waiting in line. The recommended curry bread has just the right amount of spiciness. Among them, I highly recommend the kinako (soybean flour) bread. It has white bean paste inside and the kinako cream enhances the deliciousness. Next time, I want to try the pizza too! Thank you for the meal today ☺️
