I was looking for souvenirs to bring back from Tenma Bridge and happened to come across Taiwanese sweets at Bunkasan. When it comes to Taiwanese sweets, pineapple cakes come to mind, so I decided to go inside. They had original pineapple cakes, classic ones with winter melon, and other varieties. I asked the staff about the differences, and ended up buying several types because I wanted to try them all. The soft, crumbly cookie dough filled with sweet paste was a unique texture. Despite being quite filling, they were not overly sweet, so you could eat 2-3 in a row. The packaging is also cute, so they would make great souvenirs. I'm also curious about their castella. You can only order one per person! I'll definitely try it next time.

After visiting a shrine for the New Year, I had breakfast at Cafe Tokiona and then decided to check out the neighboring store. The atmosphere inside was really nice. I bought a half-size Taiwan Castella cake for 700 yen, which was freshly baked at 10 o'clock. It was fluffy but slightly dry, and it felt like something was missing. Maybe it would have been better if it was a bit moister. However, I was glad to try the Taiwan Castella cake since I was interested in it. They also had other items like pineapple cake available for tasting, which I think is a good thing.

I bought a set of two stylish pineapple cakes at a price of 700 yen, which was a bit expensive, but they let me try samples and were very polite. There were four different flavors of pineapple cakes, and I chose the one with jasmine tea-flavored dough because it was really delicious. Just looking inside the shop was cute as well.

I went to a new shop that opened in Kyoto and met Hydrangea-san, who I haven't seen in a while. I received a souvenir from them! I brought that snack with me when I visited a friend's house nearby. Even though it's a bit of a drive, about 20 minutes or 18 kilometers in the countryside, I went to see their new kitten and show off my new car. I brought one of the souvenirs and shared it with my friend while playing with the kitten. We enjoyed some freshly brewed and chilled new tea from Ippodo while looking at the beautiful green garden in the rain. The snack was small but delicious, with a pineapple filling that had a nice tartness and a moist outer layer with plenty of butter and cream. At home, I usually enjoy chilled herbal tea during this season, so it was a perfect accompaniment. Despite being small, the snack had a strong presence and was a delightful treat. Thank you for the feast!

I bought a cake and on my way back, I found a Taiwanese sweets shop. I decided to buy some sweets that would last a few days. I bought 10 pineapple cakes as a souvenir and to enjoy at home. I also bought lemon, pineapple, passion fruit, cranberry, walnut, and winter melon pastries. I had some peach oolong tea at home, so I enjoyed them together. The pastries had a perfect balance of sweetness and were moist, making them a great summer treat! Delicious!

There was a new Taiwanese sweets shop located just south of the Tenjinbashi-suji shopping arcade. The shop had a cute design with yellow accents, possibly utilizing an old traditional house structure. The atmosphere inside was nostalgic and reminiscent of old Taiwan, with high-quality sweets on display. The main highlight seemed to be pineapple cakes, but I was personally interested in the Taiwanese castella cake. I had visited once before but it was sold out, so on my second visit, I was able to get it. The Taiwanese castella cake was larger than usual, and while the packaging was impressive, the taste was a bit disappointing. It was soft and fluffy, but lacked the typical chewy texture of Taiwanese castella, leaving a dry feeling in the mouth. It turns out the shop was related to another Taiwanese breakfast shop nearby, which also left me a bit disappointed. Overall, the experience fell short of my expectations, despite the shop's appealing atmosphere.

I visited a nearby esthetic shop after reading reviews from the staff. The jasmine castella and pineapple cake I tried didn't suit my taste, but when I bought the nougat cake, it was a big hit! It has marshmallows, crackers, and fruits inside, and the balance of saltiness and sweetness is amazing. My mother also really liked it, so I definitely plan to go back and buy more.

This is my second time. I bought the chocolate I was interested in. From the second day, it felt a little dry, so if I were to buy it again, I would go for the mix of plain and cheese. When going to Tenjinbashi-suji Shopping Street, it's a shop that makes you want to stop by.

On the way back from visiting Tenjin-san, I found a shop selling Taiwanese castella cake, which is currently popular, and pineapple cakes. The shop's design is reminiscent of a Chinese-style Western building from the early Showa period, giving off a retro vibe that you might find in Kitanozaka in Kobe or Yokohama's Chinatown. The Taiwanese castella cake I tried was chocolate-flavored and deliciously fluffy. The pineapple cake I sampled was different from those sold at famous Taiwanese shops - it was light and pleasantly surprising. Overall, it's a delightful shop to visit.

I rode my bike for about an hour from home to go eat at Spice Curry in Tenroku. On the way back, I saw the words "Taiwanese Breakfast" as I was crossing the Tenjinbashi-Suji Shopping Street. While waiting in line at the restaurant, I found out that there was a Taiwanese sweets shop nearby, so I decided to check it out. The shop had been around for hundreds of years, but it had a modern feel to it as well. They were selling pineapple cakes, Taiwanese castella, and Taiwanese tea. I was intrigued by the pineapple cakes. I've had dozens of different pineapple cakes as souvenirs before, but I was curious about how a "Japanese-made" pineapple cake would taste. Luckily, I was able to sample them, and they were all delicious, so I ended up buying three varieties. The three types I bought were plain, winter melon-filled, and the monthly flavor "cranberry walnut." Pineapple cakes can generally be divided into two types: with or without winter melon. Some say that winter melon is added to "bulk up" the cake. I personally think that the plain (without winter melon) one tastes better. As for the "cranberry walnut" flavor that I tried for the first time, it goes well with this dough since it's not as acidic as pineapple. It goes without saying that nuts go well with it too. However, this flavor changes monthly. It's a high-quality pineapple cake that is on par with Taiwanese-made ones, and you can enjoy different flavors each month. It's amazing how far we've come in this day and age.

This shop is newly opened, so it is clean and stylish. The Taiwanese castella cake comes in a box and is placed in a paper bag, making it a great little gift. The taste and texture are both very good. It's different from Nagasaki castella, more like a souffle cheesecake without the cheese.

Recently, Taiwanese food has been very popular. Dishes like xiaolongbao, lu rou fan, niu rou mian, and hu jiao bing are all very enticing. Taiwanese sweets are also a hit, with Taiwanese castella being light and delicious. Today, I would like to introduce a specialty store called "Taiwanese Sweets Wanhua" that sells Taiwanese castella, pineapple cakes, tea, and more. They have samples of their Taiwanese castella on display, which are quite large. They also have the baking times listed, so if you want to get a freshly baked one, it's recommended to go at the right time. I purchased a box of Taiwanese castella. The mix includes both plain and cheese castella. The cheese castella was new to me, but it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Today was the opening day. I visited in the early afternoon. Upon entering, I sanitized my hands. However, the hand sanitizer machine was placed too low! A polite and smiling staff member handed me a wooden tray. It was a cute tray. The interior of the store had a nice atmosphere like an old folk house, with tastefully arranged furniture and decorations. The kitchen was in the back. I wanted to buy the original pineapple cake I came for, but they had only a few left. I purchased one. They also sold passion fruit cake and winter melon cake, but they were sold out. I was told they would be ready in 30-40 minutes, but I had to go back to work. Just as I was about to pay at the register, the Taiwanese castella cake finished baking, and there were other customers waiting for it too, so I waited a bit and bought one. I also received a gift of gold leaf cookies as part of the opening promotion since I was one of the first 100 customers. I brought them home and opened them. The Taiwanese castella cake was big and fluffy, lightly sweet with a nice aroma. The pineapple cake was moist, sweet but not too sweet. It was incredibly delicious and just to my taste. It reminded me of the flavors I had in Tainan that I was moved by. (This is a personal and emotional review.) Thank you for the meal.

The shop is cute, and the pineapple cake and tea available for tasting were delicious. The owner, who is from Taiwan, makes authentic Taiwanese flavors.

I was asked by my son to buy something, and they also gave me a sample to try. I got to see them making it, which was exciting. It was fluffy and delicious.

Today, for the third time, I tried the cheese mix. I was curious about how it was mixed, but it turned out to be cheese slices sandwiched between plain dough. I wonder if there are people who would want to repeat this. I actually wanted to try the chocolate flavor this time, but it was sold out. I will try again next time.

When I visited Nambusuncho, I felt like eating Taiwanese castella for the first time and decided to go. The retro atmosphere inside the store is nice. I chose a mix of plain and cheese flavors. The cheese castella had cheddar cheese inside, which added a nice texture. It was fluffy and delicious. I also got to try the nougat cake, which was also delicious! They only sold sets, so this time I bought castella and pineapple cake, but I would like to buy them separately if they were available. Next time, I think I'll try the chocolate castella!
