Visited Menbou in Kurume City. The place was featured in a magazine and although it was empty when I arrived, it was full by the time I finished. I had the large portion of Udon with meat and burdock tempura. There was also Udon with pickled mustard greens available. The meaty and slightly sweet broth paired well with the crunchy burdock tempura, making it worth the 1,100 yen. Payment is cash only!

"Egg and rice bowl with broth-soaked noodles" and "pickled mustard leaf rice" - a long time since I had a meal like this to finish off. They were out of chicken eggs, but they had egg and rice bowl with broth-soaked noodles available. And even though pickled mustard leaf rice wasn't on the menu, they served it when I asked for it. The broth in the egg and rice bowl with broth-soaked noodles is crucial. I love how the broth in this type of noodle dish is different. And on this day, it was particularly rich. Even without chicken, it made a big impact. It really complements the noodles, with the chicken broth and egg enhancing the dish. And to top it off, the best pickled mustard leaf rice. The oil coated it nicely, creating a nice harmony. The perfect ending to a great meal in a lively cultural district with lots of people."

Located in Kurume Culture Street, Menbou is a udon restaurant that is only open at night and operates until 2 am, making it the perfect place to end a night of drinking. The atmosphere inside is lively and bustling, with many customers coming in one after another. Even on weekdays late at night, the restaurant is full of energy. The staff are friendly and provide great service. They also serve soba, but it is slightly more expensive than the udon. I ordered the Gobo Tempura Udon for 520 yen, which came with crispy tempura gobo sticks. The Egg and Wakame Udon for 520 yen was topped with a thick and sweet egg mixture, seaweed, and fish cake, providing a completely different but delicious taste. Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit in the area.

A final drink to close the night. We visited 3 places, and enjoyed some comforting udon and out-of-season oden! The broth was rich and delicious. Pairing bottled beer with oden is the best! I tried spring chrysanthemum in oden for the first time and it was delicious! I forgot to take a picture of the udon, but the udon with plenty of green onions was delicious!

A place you'll want to visit every day after drinking! They serve delicious udon and soba noodles, as well as oden. The udon noodles are soft and the broth is tasty. The soba noodles have a rich flavor, even better than the quality you'd expect from a late-night shop! We also enjoyed some shochu together, making for a wonderful late-night experience.

When drinking at Bunka Street, it's always decided that the finishing touch is Kurume ramen, but maybe it's because of my age!? Lately, udon is also good. The cherry blossom viewing season is coming to an end, and on this day, there were surprisingly few customers, but if you're looking for udon to finish off a drinking party, "Menbou" is recommended!

When drinking in the cultural district of Kurume, the perfect way to end the night is always with "Menbou" udon. This restaurant is bustling with customers not only on weekends but also on weekdays. One reason for its popularity is the scarcity of late-night udon shops, but the udon here is delicious, making it a great choice for a late-night snack after drinks. In addition to udon, the oden, tempura, stir-fried pickled vegetables, and kashiwa onigiri are also tasty, making it a popular spot. If you find yourself in Kurume's cultural district, be sure to stop by and give it a try! (^O^)

I was recommended by the locals to visit this udon restaurant that serves soft udon with a flavorful Kyushu-style broth. While Sanuki udon is popular, I personally think that Kyushu's soft udon is also amazing. I tried the tempura udon and the broth was excellent.

The last meal I had in the cultural district was either ramen at "Seiyo Ken" or "Kurume-ya", or udon at "Menbou". They also offer squid tempura, oden, kashiwa onigiri, and takana meshi as side dishes, and the menu is quite extensive. I think you can't really go wrong with whatever you choose to eat. With the end of the state of emergency and the start of the Saturday night market, it seems like the city is slowly coming back to life. Keep up the good work. Thank you for the meal.

"The sin of eating 'Chicken Egg Udon' and 'Squid Legs Tempura' even though I know it's not good to eat late at night. But they're so delicious. Now that I know how delicious Squid Legs Tempura is, what should I do in the future? The rich and sweet broth of the Chicken Egg Udon keeps tempting my appetite. Chicken eggs are the ultimate combination. I knew that already. I ate too much at the end, so I walked home instead of taking a taxi, making it zero calories. It was delicious..."

I visited Menbou in the bustling district of Kurume City. I was craving their udon as a way to end the night out. The place was full of customers enjoying authentic handmade udon and soba after drinking. I ordered the reliable Gobou Tempura Udon and Takana Meshi. The noodles were firm and chewy, not too soft, and the freshly fried Gobou was delicious. The soup was clear and clean, not too sweet, with plenty of flavorful broth. The Takana Meshi was a great side dish. I also recommend the Zaru Soba. The location and limited hours may make it less known, but if they were open for lunch as well, I'm sure it would become a popular spot. Since it's only open at night, there were quite a few drunk customers, with some conversations becoming incomprehensible and even someone emptying their entire wallet. It was entertaining to watch. If you're not a fan of rowdy drinkers, it might be best to avoid it. I look forward to visiting again when I'm in the area.

When you want to finish off with udon, head to "Menbou"! Located in the drinking district of Kurume, this place is bustling even late at night. While ramen is a common choice for finishing off a meal, ending with udon is also quite satisfying. The flavorful broth seeps into your body after drinking, which feels great.

In a corner of the drinking district that represents Kurume, there is a valuable udon shop that stays open until late at night. While it's common to eat ramen as a way to finish off a night of drinking, when you want something light to end the night, nothing beats the udon here. Recently, they have started serving lunch as well, which is a pleasant surprise. The dishes are all carefully made, and the clean interior of the restaurant reflects their sincere work ethic. You can enjoy your meal here in a very comfortable atmosphere. - Niku Negi Ten Udon (Beef and Green Onion Tempura Udon) for 800 yen For lunch, it comes with pickled mustard greens and a chicken-flavored rice ball. The pickled mustard greens are delicious. Served in a small bowl, the rice is lightly topped with a generous portion of stir-fried pickled mustard greens. At first, I was worried it might be too salty, but it's actually very easy to eat with its gentle seasoning. The rice is shiny and tasty. It would be even better if they had ground sesame seeds to sprinkle on top. I'd like to put a lot of it on my rice. As for the udon, it's your typical Chikugo udon, with a soft texture to the noodles. They break easily when you bite into them, which is just right for a tipsy jaw. The highlight is definitely the green onion tempura. Since the tempura is freshly fried every time it's ordered, I wish they would serve it in a separate dish. The combination of the sweetness of the green onions and the crispy batter must be amazing. I want to dip it slightly in the broth and slurp up the udon. The beef in the beef udon has the familiar sweet flavor of Chikugo, and the thinly sliced lean meat has a chewy texture. The sweet and savory flavor of Chikugo goes well with fat, so pork belly might be a better match.

After drinking with 5 people, we couldn't agree on whether to have ramen or udon as a final meal, so I suggested splitting up into factions. I became the leader of the udon faction, with only one person joining me. We couldn't reach a majority, so since my friend was from Kurume, he suggested a place nearby. It turned out to be a place I had visited almost two years ago. My friend insisted that everyone here only orders the Gobo Tempura Udon, so we all ordered that. However, I noticed that many people around us were actually ordering the Negi Tempura Udon. I remember about 90% of the people ordering the Gobo Tempura, so I'm not sure if my friend was wrong or if it was just a coincidence. The soup was not too strong, and the hot Gobo Tempura Udon with plenty of shichimi spice was delicious. We enjoyed our meal as we finished off the night.

Indulging in a luxurious, food-filled life after drinking. The ultimate spot for a meal after a night out in Kurume's cultural district. Open only at night. "Tamago toji" with meat, negi tempura, and sweet thickened egg. The combination of udon broth, the sweetness of the meat, and the crunch of the negi tempura is delicious. My favorite is the "chicken egg udon," but it's usually sold out, so my second favorite is this combination. The cultural district was bustling.

I drank nearby and had drunk udon at Peropero. This place is a udon restaurant specializing in night time. It is located in a narrow alley like a ramen street. It was my first visit as I hadn't found the right timing to go in. I was surprised when I entered. The place was packed with customers and the staff were very energetic, giving off the vibe of a popular restaurant! I ordered udon with shrimp tempura and seaweed topping. The broth was just right with a mix of bonito flakes and kelp. It was slightly strong, which was perfect for being a little tipsy. The noodles were thick and surprisingly had a good chewiness. It was satisfying to eat. I was used to softer noodles recently, so I was a bit surprised. The shrimp tempura was freshly fried, and they even gave me two extra pieces of tempura! It was delicious!

Here is a place where personally I have one clear choice, the "Chicken Egg Udon." However, it is limited in quantity and sells out quickly. When I went, it was sold out... I'm torn. The "Meat and Burdock Tempura Udon" is also good, but the udon here... with chicken egg, egg topping, and tempura topping, three options. The broth is different. Sweet. I like it personally. So, even if the chicken egg is sold out, there is still a chance. I was told that the "Tempura Topping" is good, so I ordered the udon with the specialty "Negi Tempura" topping. The broth is excellent. Stable. Shrimp tempura and negi tempura are also good, but I just love the broth. If only there were chicken in it... but shrimp tempura and negi tempura are also fine. But I prefer chicken... maybe I just like chicken. #TempuraUdon #NegiTempuraUdon #ChickenEggUdon #Menbo #KurumeMenbo #Udon #KurumeUdon #FukuokaUdon #Bunkamachi #KurumeBunkamachi #BunkamachiGourmet #Gourmet #KurumeGourmet #FukuokaGourmet #UdonLovers #ConnectWithUdonLovers #ConnectWithGourmetLovers #Noodlestagram #Menstagram #Foodstagram #Tabelog #FoodPorn #UdonLifestyle #KurumeFinish #UdonFinish #FukuokaHasUdon #Finish #WantToLoseWeight #WantToLoseWeightButWantToEat #FukuokaFood

Fukuoka is all about udon. I also like ramen, but I just love carbs. There are plenty of delicious udon shops, but after drinking in the cultural district of Kurume, "Menbo" is perfect. This place is famous for its Negi-Ten Udon, but personally, I only go for the limited "Chicken Egg Udon". The broth is different from other udon, and it's irresistible for chicken lovers. You have to go early because it sells out quickly. Luckily, there were two bowls left, so my friend and I had two bowls of Chicken Egg Udon. When they run out of chicken eggs, I go for the Meat and Burdock Udon. It's delicious even when drunk. It's delicious even when sober.

On the weekend, I went drinking with my high school classmates in Kurume. We started at a famous yakiniku restaurant called "Nakatsu-ryu," then went bar hopping in Kurume's downtown area. We ended up at a popular restaurant where there was a line of about 10 people outside. After waiting for about 15 minutes, we were seated inside. I was a little drunk and don't remember what I ordered, but I do remember that the udon noodles were thin, the soup was light, and there was plenty of meat and green onions in it. It was cheap and delicious. Next time, I want to go without getting too drunk.

I visited a udon and soba restaurant that is only open at night after a long time. When I lived in Kurume 7-8 years ago, I used to go there often for a late-night meal. I found the ramen a bit too strong, so sometimes udon was just right. Nowadays, there are udon izakayas in many places, but back then there weren't many places where you could enjoy udon while drinking. I haven't tried the soba yet, so maybe next time. The noodles haven't changed much, but the uniqueness lies in the toppings. They have classic options like tempura and burdock tempura, but my favorite is the green onion tempura udon. It's filled with hot green onion tempura and chopped green onions, perfect for green onion lovers. In the end, this is always my go-to dish. They also have a variety of oden and rice dishes. It may not be a place where everyone would visit due to its nighttime hours and location, but I think it's a restaurant that would appeal to many. Thank you for the meal.
