※This is a post from a blog♪ Blog URL https://sibumi.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-6377.html Talking about how much I love local diners, I finally visited the nearest one, "Chikamochi Shokudo". I tried their specialty dish, Horumon Yaki Udon set meal, which was surprisingly unique♪ Date of visit: April 24th Visited: "Chikamochi Shokudo" Registered trademark: Specialty Chikamochi It shines brightly☆ Quoting (excerpt): Chikamochi Shokudo is an established popular diner with around 100 locations in the Kinki and Chugoku regions. It was founded in 1889 by Rikiyo Ikeguchi as a manju shop in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture. Towards the end of the Taisho era, they added rice bowls and noodles to the menu, evolving into the current popular diner concept. The unique feature of their store expansion is the voluntary chain system, where after working for over 8 years and gaining the master's trust, one is allowed to independently open a new store. When opening a new store, the association provides support with funds and location selection, and during the grand opening, the master presents a flower wreath, with neighboring store owners and employees coming to show support. Currently, due to a decrease in customers, aging store owners, and a lack of successors, many stores have closed down, and new store openings have been scarce. The entrance is narrow but the inside is spacious with only table seating. The menu is only displayed on the wall. I ordered the Horumon Yaki Udon (single item for 700 yen) - a sizzling hot iron plate serving~! Additionally, rice, miso soup, pickles, and a raw egg, making it a Horumon Yaki Udon set meal for 850 yen. Once I cracked the raw egg on the hot iron plate, the udon, horumon, and egg mixed together perfectly for a delicious meal~ The horumon and vegetables were perfect as a side dish for rice! The Yaki Udon was also a great side dish! Finished everything cleanly and completely satisfied~ It was incredibly delicious♪ Thank you for the meal! At the storefront, they also sell their signature Ohagi with sweet red bean paste and kinako powder, as well as red rice☆ The taste of this long-established store with 50 years of history did not disappoint!! On this day, my wife had the day off so we decided to fulfill a request. We were watching the WBC and ended up arriving around 12:30, right in the middle of the busy lunch rush! We thought it would be empty, but to our surprise, there was only one table left (;゚Д゚)! The place was bustling with two groups of customers before us and one group after us. The menu had slightly increased prices, but the quality of the food made it still worth it. My wife ordered the shrimp fry set with udon, while I chose the pork cutlet set with soba. The food came out one after another within 10 minutes. The pork cutlet was pounded well and homemade, but I wish it was a bit thinner. The shrimp fry was a bit small, but it was delicious and had a nice crunch. The set came with soba or udon, a side dish, and a raw egg, which was a great deal. Personally, I would prefer a larger portion of rice instead of soba. Despite being older, the owners are doing a great job. Thank you for the meal!

In October of the 4th year of Reiwa, the business hours are from 11:00 to 19:00. The chirashi sushi costs 330 yen, and it's just the right amount for a light meal. The chirashi sushi I bought this time seems to be available only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, so be sure to try it on those days.

I went shopping at the Aeon in Teppomachi, and after shopping at the supermarket and 100-yen shop, I found myself in a bit of a refugee state after 2 o'clock (>_<). Feeling hungry, I chose to dine at this place that offers all-day service. I ordered the tonkatsu set meal (750 yen) and the shrimp fry set meal (750 yen). There were no customers when I arrived, only a customer who came to buy ohagi later on. The food arrived in about 7 minutes. The set meals here come with either udon or soba noodles and miso soup, and for fried dishes, you can choose between udon or soba noodles. I chose soba, while my wife chose udon. The set meal included tonkatsu, soba (one serving), rice, raw egg, pickles, and simmered pumpkin, all for 750 yen, which is a great deal! The tonkatsu is hand-breaded after ordering and tastes delicious. The shrimp fry is also homemade. However, I think they could add more rice and skip the raw egg with a small udon portion (just my preference). Nevertheless, for the quality and service offered at this price, it's fantastic! We left feeling very full. This small restaurant run by a middle-aged couple is working hard and is highly recommended. Thank you for the meal.

During work, I had some free time and decided to explore around Sakai in search of a place to eat. I stumbled upon a restaurant called "Chikaramochi," which is a chain restaurant that serves noodles and rice bowls with over 100 locations in Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, and the Sanyo region. Unlike typical chain restaurants, they have a system where you must train under the master for over 8 years before being allowed to open your own franchise. I used to have a "Chikaramochi" in my hometown, but it closed down over a decade ago, so I was excited to have delicious udon again. When I entered the restaurant, there were no customers, and the wife of the owner was watching the news on TV. The emergency declaration had caused a significant drop in customers, making it difficult to pay the rent. She expressed the need for immediate cash support from the government. I decided to order the vegetable stir-fry set meal (750 yen) since the chirashi sushi set was only available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The set meal included vegetable stir-fry, udon, raw egg, rice, pickles, shredded mountain pepper, and a dessert of kinako mochi. The dessert was complimentary. "Chikaramochi" not only serves noodles and rice bowls but also makes traditional Japanese sweets like mochi, red rice, and ohagi. The kinako had a subtly sweet taste as it used very little sugar. The udon had a soft texture with a light dashi flavor. If I could ask for one thing, it would be a larger portion of the vegetable stir-fry. The kitchen was run by the owner and what seemed to be his son, indicating a family-run business. I hope the situation improves soon so that the restaurant industry can regain its vitality. Thank you for the meal.

I told my wife, "There's a restaurant where you can get a full stomach!" and she was very interested and came along. Last time we visited, she confirmed that she got a full stomach! She was acting all cool saying, "Ah, I remember the pork cutlet rice bowl," but ended up ordering the same pork cutlet set meal as me and was surprised by the portion size. Even though she usually doesn't like pickles, she ate them and when I asked, "Did you get a full stomach?" she said, "Well, I guess so." The food was voluminous, the pickles and pork cutlet were homemade and delicious, it seems. On the way back, she was eating a donut in the back of the car! Scary! Thank you for the meal.

The rain stopped, I'm bored. I finished my mom's shopping by 10 o'clock and headed out to Q-chan for a day out. I didn't want Chinese food or ramen, so I decided to go towards Goryo. I searched on Tabelog at a parking lot and found Riki Mochi Shokudo. I arrived at 10:55 am and there was only one other customer. I was torn between ordering curry udon or tonkatsu set, but since I can't eat much, I chose the tonkatsu set (750 yen). The lady asked me if I wanted udon or soba, and I was surprised it wasn't miso soup. I chose soba. It took about 10 minutes for the tonkatsu to arrive, and when it did, I was shocked by the generous portion. The tonkatsu, cabbage (with paprika and carrot), orange (for dessert), rice, pickles, dried radish, raw egg, soba with broth, all for 750 yen including tax. I was amazed by the quality, affordability, and speed of this place. The staff were great. The meal left me feeling satisfied and impressed. Thank you for the meal!

I feel energized~! I went to a client in Sakai before noon, but the person in charge was not available on the premises. It was almost 12 o'clock, so I decided to come back later. I was with a hungry junior colleague, so we decided to have lunch nearby. We found this restaurant called Chikaramochi Shokudo on Tabelog. The parking lot had space for two cars just past the restaurant. We entered through the local-style sliding door, feeling a bit out of place. However, the cheerful voice of the owner saying "Please come in, sit wherever you like" made us feel welcome. I ordered the chirashi sushi set for 750 yen, which is only available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. While waiting, more and more customers arrived, and the place quickly filled up. The owner, who seemed to be very popular, greeted everyone warmly. The restaurant was small, with about six tables, but it was cozy. Most of the customers seemed to be locals, and the atmosphere was like having a meal cooked by your mom at home. The owner's cheerful demeanor and friendly service made the experience enjoyable. After a short wait, the meal was served, including regular-sized udon, chirashi sushi, a side dish, and tamagoyaki. The portion size was impressive, and I left feeling very full. Thanks to the owner's energy and the satisfying lunch, I feel ready to tackle the rest of the day! Thank you.

The original source is here ↓ https://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/fry2567/29184210.html On a day off, my wife said, "I'll go to the post office to withdraw some money and then deposit it at the bank before heading to work." She went to the post office, deposited the money at the bank, and completed her mission. Now it's time for lunch. Since it was raining and it would be a hassle to go out again after returning home, we decided to go to a nearby restaurant called Riki Mochi Shokudo. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere with five 4-seater tables. The menu included dishes such as Tamago Toji Udon for 500 yen, Yakisoba Udon for 500 yen, Mochi Udon for 550 yen, Chicken Nanban for 550 yen, Keiran for 550 yen, Hitoden Don for 650 yen, Oyakodon for 650 yen, Curry Don for 650 yen, Nikudon for 700 yen, among others. They also offered Oden Teishoku for 700 yen, Tempura Soba for 1080 yen, Zaru Soba for 580 yen, Yamakake Soba for 680 yen, and Hormone Yaki Udon Teishoku for 780 yen. I ordered the Curry Udon for 630 yen, a simple curry udon with green onions and a little bit of meat. Despite being hot, the curry udon with a flavorful broth was comforting and warmed both my body and soul. Even with my sensitive tongue, I was able to finish it easily. There's something reassuring about traditional diners like this one. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal♪

I am "Noronori," who mainly walks around eating lunch in the Sakai area. This time, I visited a small restaurant that I always passed by without visiting. The restaurant has 5 small tables and a cheerful mother who serves as the waitress. There are no menus on the tables, so I looked up at the wall to decide what to order. I chose curry soba and rice with toppings. They also brought me potato salad and pickles. I wonder if it was a service? Original source: https://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/norinoribenben20072000/34766389.html

The Power Mochi Restaurant, which I pass by occasionally, is a bit hard to buy from because they only have kinako or azuki mochi available (although they might bring out more if you ask). However, this time they had both kinako and azuki mochi on display, so I decided to stop by. The exterior may not look inviting for a meal, but once you open the door and order some mochi, a very friendly and cheerful lady greeted me. The interior is quite small, which made me hesitant to dine alone, but the charming lady made me feel comfortable. I bought kinako mochi for 110 yen and azuki mochi for 110 yen, totaling 220 yen. The lady saw me off very politely, and when I got home, I enjoyed the mochi with some tea. Despite the small size for 110 yen, they were packed with mochi rice and had a nice chewy texture that I like. The kinako and azuki were not too sweet, making them easy to eat. The mochi was soft and had a simple, rustic flavor. I would like to try their sekihan and udon as well.

It's a review of a popular rice cake restaurant. The shop is small with a narrow entrance, run by a lively female owner. The daily special costs 735 yen and includes either a rice bowl or a bento. The bento is packed with various items including fried horse mackerel, udon noodles, and rice. The rice bowl comes with a mini rice bowl and a side of tempura shrimp. The portions are generous and filling, with additional side dishes like rice balls. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.
