Recently discovered a takeout-only Taiwanese street food shop in the Tangram Shopping Street called "Taiwanese Street Food Hao Shokudo Tangram-cho Store." The shop is run by a Taiwanese owner and is the first store to open in Fukuoka following two in Tokyo. As it had just opened, there were still flowers displayed outside. I visited around 6 pm, just before their 7 pm closing time, and saw three people waiting in line. They offer daily specials, and on the day of my visit (Wednesday), it was "Pork Rice (Pork Cutlet) Day," with the price reduced from ¥890 to ¥600. I also ordered my wife's request, the Ji Pai Fan (Chicken Cutlet) and Lu Rou Fan set for ¥1190. It took about 10 minutes to prepare the food, so I went to a nearby store to buy some drinks. When I got home, I tried the Pork Rice first. The authentic Taiwanese spice seasoning added a nice touch of authenticity to the dish. The meal was simple without many side dishes, but the thinly sliced pork was not greasy and had a unique taste different from tonkatsu. Personally, I enjoyed it. My wife's Lu Rou Fan had a strong aroma of five-spice powder and the chunky, well-cooked meat gave a real Taiwanese dining experience. It felt quite authentic and reasonably priced. The daily specials might be worth trying. Overall, a satisfying meal.

On the fourth day of Golden Week, it was a weekday due to May Day, but I was lucky enough to win the second lottery for Pina's (former HKT48 member Goto Hinano) birthday celebration. I was happy to be able to attend two performances during my Golden Week trip. However, since it was a birthday celebration on a weekday, it ended quite late, and by the time it was over, I was hungry. On the way from the theater to my accommodation, I stopped by this good dining place in Chinatown. It is a takeout-only Taiwanese restaurant that Bibian (former HKT48 member Murakawa Bibian) had tweeted about being delicious before. It was almost 9:30 PM, but I was glad they were still open! Last time, I had the braised pork rice, so this time, I got the chicken cutlet rice for 650 yen for takeout (with less rice). Oh, and I added some cilantro for 50 yen. I enjoyed it at my accommodation. When I opened the lid, there was a Taiwanese-style chicken cutlet. It was thin but the coating had a strong spicy flavor. There was also plenty of spices on top. Underneath the chicken cutlet, there were pickled mustard greens, pickled radish, boiled egg, and cucumber hidden. The extra cilantro was a bit mild and didn't have the expected refreshing taste, but it had a Taiwanese-like aroma and was delicious.

Occasionally, let's have dinner with takeout and stroll around the Chinatown shopping street to look for something to eat. In the end, craving for a rice bowl, I decided to head to Mammy's Chinatown store. I was initially thinking of trying something different like the "Chicken Cutlet Rice" instead of the usual "Pork Cutlet Rice" I had last time. But when it came time to order, I found myself saying "Pork Cutlet Rice" @700 yen! It seems that pork always wins over chicken in my heart. After placing the order, I waited for about 10 minutes in front of the store to pick up my "Pork Cutlet Rice" and headed home. Once home, I enjoyed the Pork Cutlet Rice with a beer. The aroma of the five-spice powder really brought out the feeling of authentic Taiwanese street food. The thinly coated pork, fried with the seasoning of five-spice powder, was not greasy and had a different taste from the typical chicken cutlet. The side dishes of boiled egg and pickled mustard greens were simple but added a touch of authenticity to the meal. It was a satisfying meal.

During the second day of summer vacation in Fukuoka, I engaged in "oshi-atsu" activities, where I visit places and eat food that my favorite idol has recommended. While walking from Itoshima to Momochi Beach towards my accommodation in Nakasu, I remembered a restaurant that Bibian (HKT48's Murakawa Bibian) had posted on Instagram. It was a bit hidden in Karatocho, but I managed to find it. The staff told me they would be closed for the Obon holiday starting the next day, so I decided to get a takeout of their Lu Rou Fan for dinner, which cost 790 yen. Since I am on a low-carb diet, I asked for less rice and they kindly gave me extra thick fried tofu as a replacement! It took me about 30-40 minutes to walk to my accommodation, but as soon as I opened the container, a delicious aroma filled the air. It seemed to have a hint of star anise. The dish had a generous amount of broth, and the finely chopped pork and thick fried tofu were well flavored. It was delicious. It was interesting to see pickled cucumbers on the side. The tea egg looked well-cooked in terms of color, but it didn't seem to have absorbed much flavor. The addition of pickled radish gave it a Taiwanese touch. The Pork Chop Rice and Chicken Chop Rice also looked appetizing!

I revisited this place since I was nearby. I also bought the requested Lu Rou Fan. The sweet and savory seasoned meat is easier to eat compared to Pai Guo Fan, with a milder flavor of five-spice powder. The meat is topped with cucumber, giving it a refreshing taste. It's nice to be able to easily get Taiwanese home-cooked food for takeout. I will definitely visit again.

This is a takeout-only Taiwanese street food shop that opened last month in the Chinatown shopping street. They offer a variety of dishes that you would find in Taiwan. They have special deals on different days of the week. I tried their Pai Guo Fan (850 yen), which was discounted to 600 yen on that day. It took about 15 minutes for the order to be ready, so it might be a good idea to call ahead to reserve. I enjoyed exploring the retro atmosphere of the shopping street and checking out interesting shops. When I got home, I dug into the meal. The aroma of the five-spice powder really made it feel like a dish from another country. The meat was large but a bit thin. It was fried to a crispy perfection. The egg flavor was outstanding. The portion of rice was generous, so it was enough for dinner. I would love to try other items on the menu when I have the chance.

I visited Momochi Hama Store because it was newly opened and introduced. They have special menu deals for each day of the week, and on Mondays you can get Lu Rou Fan for 500 yen! They also provide cute bags for free. As soon as you open the lid, you can smell the aroma of spices like star anise spreading out. The meat and side dishes were very delicious, and I felt like I was in Taiwan. This time I chose the regular option, so it was not spicy at all and had a sweet flavor that even children can enjoy. However, for those who like spicy food, they also have a super spicy Lu Rou Fan. The owner used to be a celebrity in Taiwan, so the service was very friendly. I definitely want to keep coming back to this place.
