Located a 2-minute walk from Nagahoribashi Station on the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line, very close to Minami Police Station in Nishi-Shinsaibashi. This is a local-style Chinese restaurant run by Chinese staff. I arrived around 1 pm on a weekday and had to wait for about 10 minutes as the place was full. The interior has counter seats at the back, three tables for four people, and two tables for two people. The staff are Chinese and speak basic Japanese. It seems like many of the customers came here after seeing posts on the Chinese version of Instagram called "RED." Looking around, I noticed that everyone except me was Chinese, creating a unique atmosphere with Chinese conversations filling the air. It felt like being in China, giving off a sense of being out of place. The lunch menu offers reasonably priced set meals. The popular mapo tofu can be chosen from three levels of spiciness (mild, regular, authentic). I also noticed someone taking their leftovers to go, which felt very international. [Order] - Shrimp Chili Set Meal (¥900) *Free extra rice I was torn between the chicken and peanut chili stir-fry, but I decided to go for the unique shrimp chili. The shrimp chili set meal included shrimp, green onions, and cucumbers, providing a generous portion. The combination of plump shrimp and crunchy cucumbers was unexpectedly good. The flavorful and slightly tangy sweet and sour chili sauce paired well with the rice. The meal also came with pickled mustard greens, shredded cabbage with a sesame mayo dressing, and egg soup. On the table, there was a bottle of pink salt instead of regular salt, which surprised me. I tried adding some spicy seasoning from the table to the dish and turning it into a shrimp chili bowl, which was incredibly delicious. In summary, this restaurant offers authentic Sichuan cuisine in a casual setting. You can enjoy Sichuan specialties like water-cooked beef slices and fish-flavored shredded pork for under ¥1000, making it a great value for money. When I feel like eating Sichuan cuisine, I always come to this restaurant! It's located underground, and when you go down the stairs, it feels like you're no longer in Japan, haha. Everyone - customers, staff, and cooks - are Chinese, there are no Japanese people around, and you can't hear Japanese being spoken. The menu is in Chinese, but there are plenty of pictures to make it easy to choose! The appetizers are generally under 1,000 yen, while the main dishes are around 2,000 yen, but the portions are huge, so it's really cheap when you split the cost per person! The taste is truly authentic Sichuan cuisine, not at all adjusted for Japanese palates! That's what makes it so great! And the service is incredibly fast too!! The chili peppers were more like additional ingredients rather than just for flavoring. The dish was delicious, and the leftover oil at the end had a nice spicy kick to it. It was delicious, and I was surprised to find cucumber in it - a first for me. I love cucumber, so it was great, but I didn't notice it in the menu photo. There was a lot of cucumber and green onions in the dish. The shrimp chili was so tasty, I couldn't stop eating it with the rice. Now I want to try the other dishes too.

In Shinsaibashi, there is a Chinese restaurant that I previously posted about with their shrimp chili dish. This time, I tried their Mapo Tofu cooked in a clay pot. It was piping hot and quite spicy, but incredibly delicious. Just like the shrimp chili, this Mapo Tofu was outstanding. The only downside is the plain rice, but overall, this is a restaurant I would definitely want to visit frequently.

I saw this Chinese restaurant on Instagram and it really caught my attention. The atmosphere is intriguing... Are the staff Chinese? Their Japanese seems a bit awkward, but it adds to the authenticity! The mapo tofu set meal is piping hot, so be careful not to burn yourself!笑

In Shinsaibashi, there is a Chinese restaurant with a nice exterior that makes you hesitate to enter. I ordered the Shrimp Chili Set Meal for 900 yen and was surprised by the portion size. If you go south from Nagahori Bridge, you'll find a valuable restaurant in this area where there are few places open for lunch. The interior of the restaurant is not very large, but it's almost full. And mostly Chinese customers. I came here for the mapo tofu, so I chose the mapo tofu set meal where you can choose the level of spiciness. The staff asked me if I could handle the spiciness, and I said yes. It arrived in about 7 minutes. It's served in a clay pot, but it's not bubbling, so it seems like they're just using the pot as a serving dish. Nevertheless, it's piping hot. The spiciness is just right. It's not numbing, but it's deliciously spicy. The rice goes down so easily. It also comes with salad, soup, and pickled vegetables. It's no wonder there are a lot of Chinese customers here. I found this restaurant while looking for lunch in Shinsaibashi! The signboard advertised a mapo tofu lunch for ¥850 which caught my eye, so I decided to go in! You can choose the level of spiciness for the mapo tofu from three options. The mapo tofu comes bubbling in a hot pot, looking delicious! I couldn't stop eating the mapo tofu with rice, it was so good! And you can get free refills of rice too! They also had other cheap lunch menu options, so everyone should try going there!

Ma Po Tofu Authentic 850 yenI have been curious about this Chinese restaurant for a while. The interior has a retro atmosphere. I ordered the Ma Po Tofu. It arrived in about 5 minutes after ordering. It came out bubbling in a pot and piping hot! The spiciness was authentic, but not overwhelmingly hot, with just the right amount of heat and numbing sensation making it enjoyable to eat. The strong aroma of spices made me feel hot from the inside after finishing, and I couldn't stop sweating! The rice was cooked quite firm, and when topped with the Ma Po Tofu, it softened just right! The soup was a thick egg drop soup that helped balance out the spiciness of the Ma Po Tofu, giving it a slightly sweet taste. Thank you for the meal.

In Osaka's Chuo Ward, East Shinsaibashi, we ended up at the authentic Chinese restaurant "Malaxiangguo." It's crowded with locals. Finally got a table. Starting with a bottle of Sapporo Lager, we tried the stir-fried cauliflower "Gan Guo Huacai" for the first time. Then, we had the spicy pork face meat "Jianjiao Zhutou Rou," which was fiery and delicious. This dish includes the meat from the face of the pig, a coveted part in Chinese cuisine. They also served the "Cucumber Egg Skin Soup" with the perfect balance of flavors. The aroma and spiciness of the dishes were amazing. The flavors were different between the dishes, but both were delicious. The spiciness was just right, making us crave for more. Overall, it was a satisfying Chinese meal in Osaka.
