After enjoying wine at "Evolue," I searched for a bar where I could continue drinking and found "Bar Augusta Tarogi." The location is just north of Hankyu Umeda Station, where you turn right at the north end of the station and pass the elevated New Midosuji Street, and it's on the left side. There is a Nikka Whisky sign at the storefront, with a heavy door beside it, giving off an authentic bar atmosphere. The interior has only counter seats, with whisky barrels in the back. I sat at the seat closest to the entrance. Various whisky bottles line the back bar, showcasing the bar's expertise. Inside the counter, there was the owner and one bartender. The customers ranged from two women, couples, to seemingly important people from large companies. I ordered the following: - Gibson: a cocktail I always order at a new bar to see if they have the pearl onion, which is a personal evaluation criterion for bars. Of course, they had it here, and I was mesmerized by the owner's elegant shaking skills. The taste was sharp, dry, and delicious. - Original Blended Whisky: I saw a bottle with the "Bar Augusta" label in front of the counter, so I had it straight. The owner mentioned that they blend it themselves and age it in barrels at the back of the bar. It had a smooth taste, a floral aroma, with a slight unique flavor reminiscent of Highland Park. When I mentioned this to the owner, he said the key whisky in this blend is indeed Highland Park, sparking a lively conversation. - Highland Park (11 years & 18 years): following the conversation, I asked for these and was served single cask limited bottles with over 63% alcohol. These are truly rare gems, and the selection here is fantastic. The 18-year-old was pricey, but I couldn't resist trying it, so I had a half. As a Highland Park fan, the taste was indescribably delicious. - Lagavulin 12 years: I ended with my favorite whisky. Since the 16-year-old standard is hard to find lately, I had the 12-year-old. The owner is really good at conversation, adjusting to my knowledge level and sharing various stories in an easy-to-understand manner. He knows bars all over the country and we had a lively discussion about the bars I often visit in Shizuoka and Ginza. With the selection of alcohol, atmosphere, cozy environment, and conversations with the owner, it's no wonder this place is popular. I would love to visit again during my business trips. The bill was around 12,500 yen. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
