Sapporo Airport food. I always stop by the standing sushi restaurant on the souvenir floor on the 2nd floor, and all the restaurants on the 3rd floor are crowded, except for this one place where there is no line outside. New Chitose Airport "Fukutei" seems to have its main store in Kushiro, and looking at the samples outside the store, the airport store seems to specialize in seafood "kamameshi". I ordered a draft beer (Sapporo brand, of course) and "salmon sashimi" for 800 yen as a side dish. The orange-colored salmon was soft and delicious. So I ordered another beer. Now for the main dish, looking at the menu, there were too many options to choose from, and I couldn't decide. So, I chose "silver salmon ikura" for 2980 yen. I casually made it a "parent and child" dish with salmon and salmon roe. The kamameshi with silver salmon and a luxurious amount of soy sauce-marinated salmon roe was undoubtedly delicious. And the Hanasakiteppo soup (crab miso soup) was also good. The total bill was over 5000 yen. It was a luxurious airport meal.

Arrived in Hokkaido and had my first meal! There were many varieties of seafood bowls to choose from, and I was tempted by the tempura bowls as well, but I wanted to eat scallops, haha. The scallops, shrimp, and salmon all melted in my mouth. It didn't quite have the feeling of a seafood bowl, but it was just the right amount that I could finish easily. Thank you for the meal!

The sweet treats had been going on for a while, and I was starting to crave something salty, so I headed to the restaurant district. However, every place seemed crowded. In the midst of it all, I found this relatively empty restaurant and decided to check it out. Although there were some empty seats, it felt a bit chaotic. When I entered, I was directed to a table, but there were several empty tables around, some of which were not being used due to COVID-19, so I wished they had guided me to a better spot. The ordering was done through a mobile system. Also, even though the seats were spaced out, the person behind me didn't seem to understand the concept of eating quietly. I ordered the Oyster Kamameshi with a side of chilled sake for 2,460 yen. It seemed like the type of place that cooks the rice after you order. As I sipped on my sake, the dish arrived. Visually, it looked great. The oysters were plump and juicy. However, when I tasted it, I was a bit disappointed. The rice in the Kamameshi was a bit soft... It was cooked in, but for someone who prefers firmer rice, it was lacking. They suggested turning it into ochazuke for the second half, but with the softness, it seemed like it would turn into rice soup haha. I did try making ochazuke, but despite the size of the pot, there was surprisingly little dashi, and I could barely fill one bowl. There were a few other things that bothered me as well, so overall, it was a bit disappointing. I'll have to think twice before returning. Thank you for the meal.

It is a restaurant where you can eat kama-meshi (rice cooked in an iron pot). Since it was during the Sapporo Snow Festival, there were many foreign tourists. I waited for about 15 minutes to get a table, but surprisingly the service was quick and my food arrived soon after I ordered. I ordered the Silver Shari Seafood Chirashi, and the shrimp was fresh and delicious. The seasoning was adjustable, so even if you don't like strong flavors, you can enjoy the dish. The miso soup had a strong crab flavor and was tasty. Kama-meshi was delicious.

I bought a lot of Shimaenaga goods at New Chitose Airport and before boarding, I had lunch at this restaurant that caught my eye. The scallop butter kamameshi (1,730 yen) had five large scallops! When mixed with butter, it was a taste of indulgence. I ate the first bowl as is, added condiments to the second bowl, and poured broth over the third bowl. Personally, I liked eating it as is, so I ate the last bowl that way. It was delicious! I'm full! Thank you for the meal.

Before saying goodbye to Hokkaido, I had a crab feast at Fukutei, with a snow crab platter for 3290 yen. Snow crab can be a bit painful to eat, but it's delicious when dipped in lemon. Just having the shell makes it look luxurious, and the crab miso is also a treat. #Fukutei #NewChitoseAirport

At New Chitose Airport, I was thinking about what to eat. Among the many famous restaurants like Ramen Dojo, Soup Curry, Genghis Khan, and Soba, I decided to try the Kamameshi from "Fukutei" that I couldn't go to in Kushiro. There were so many options to choose from, but I went with the crab and salmon roe set. I was worried about the wait, but it arrived in just over 10 minutes. When I opened the lid, there was a unique seafood aroma. It was crab and salmon roe. I immediately started eating. The rice was soaked in seafood broth, and it was delicious. I ate it up quickly. Lastly, I tried the tea-soaked rice with condiments. It was my first time trying it, and it was delicious, like hitsumabushi. I left Hokkaido feeling satisfied.

I stopped by Fukutei when I went to see off my mother who was returning to Kansai around 11:30 on Sunday. While there were many popular ramen shops with long lines, Fukutei was not crowded, and we were able to sit comfortably at two separate tables with five people. It seems that Hokkaido's image of kamameshi doesn't appeal to tourists. The taste was just average.

My wife's acquaintance works in the kitchen, so we visited at 12 o'clock. There was one group of customers before us and two groups after us. The staff were very friendly. I had the kettle rice and tempura set, while my wife had the clam kettle rice... we shared a little. The staff worked diligently and the tea pickles at the end were delicious. However, it was a bit strange that there was no steam when we opened the lid of the kettle rice, and there was no burnt rice either. Maybe we should have ordered the silver plate version? Kettle rice tempura set 1480 yen, clam kettle rice 1480 yen. Thank you for the meal!

In considering where to go for a final supper, I thought about having seafood bowl, sushi, Chinese, or Western cuisine... but I decided to go for kamameshi, a rice dish cooked in an iron pot. Fukutei is a chain restaurant, but they only serve kamameshi here in Shin-Chitose. I chose this slightly upscale option with high expectations. They use high-quality ingredients, including golden cuttlefish. You can eat it as is, or pour broth over it to enjoy it like ochazuke, which enhances the flavor. I felt grateful to be a Japanese person who comes up with such ideas. I am planning to stay in Shin-Chitose for three nights to explore different restaurants, and there are still more places to visit. I secretly hope to have a second round someday.

Usually, I often stop by ramen or Genghis Khan restaurants at New Chitose Airport, but this time I visited a kama-meshi (kettle rice) restaurant for the first time. Perhaps due to the quiet atmosphere caused by the coronavirus, they were offering a limited-time discount. I had the kama-meshi seafood set for 1,680 yen. It was delicious and it had been a while since I had such tasty kama-meshi. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this shop at New Chitose Airport around 1 pm on a weekday, and there were only a few groups inside. This time, I had the clam rice bowl. The clams were firm and very delicious. Lastly, they served it in a tea-infused broth, similar to ochazuke, which was also delicious. Thank you for the meal!

In the silver bowl of sea urchin, there is a delightful amount of glossy silver-shelled sea urchin. It is a pleasure to have it on top of rice, pretending to be rice. Put the sea urchin luxuriously on top of the rice and into your mouth! The sea urchin melts in your mouth, giving you a delightful texture and a delicious aroma in your mouth. The rice is fluffy and sweet, making it incredibly delicious! The miso soup is also luxurious with a hint of crab, combining the subtle crab flavor and aroma to create a comforting deliciousness.

I went to New Chitose Airport and there were many food shops lined up. The displayed kettle rice looked delicious, so I decided to try it! The kettle rice arrived faster than I expected, the shop was bright and clean, and the staff (probably part-time workers?) were friendly. Both the kettle rice and tempura were delicious. I want to go again. Thank you for the meal.

Fukutei in New Chitose Airport offers seafood and kama-meshi (rice cooked in an iron pot). The dining options at New Chitose Airport have become quite extensive lately. Compared to other seafood bowl restaurants, Fukutei is more approachable. While many places serve seafood bowls, I still think seafood bowls are better. Nevertheless, the food here was delicious.

On this day, I left New Chitose Airport... I wanted to try going to Kantaro, but the line was so long, so I went to this shop across from it instead. You can have a seafood mixed rice dish with various types of seafood. I was drawn to the oyster and scallop mixed rice, but I ordered the mixed seafood set meal (1820 yen including tax). Like all the other shops, there were a lot of foreign customers. It soon arrived. The tray included mixed rice, sashimi (scallop, salmon, squid, sweet shrimp), chawanmushi, and miso soup. I didn't expect to be able to have sashimi at a mixed rice shop. It's nice that it has scallops instead of tuna! I warmed up with chawanmushi and miso soup. Although there were many restaurants I wanted to visit in my first trip to Hokkaido, I couldn't visit most of them, so I want to go back and explore more. Thank you for the meal!

The restaurant at Chitose Airport that serves kama-meshi. There were many varieties of kama-meshi available, and you can finish it off with tea and pickles. I ordered a regular seafood bowl, which was nothing special in terms of taste. The kama-meshi with saury and winter yellowtail seemed interesting though.

"Fukutei" located inside New Chitose Airport is a popular restaurant known for its kama-meshi, a dish made by cooking seafood and Hokkaido-grown rice with a flavorful broth. Their specialties include "uni sashimi" and "uni, ikura, taraba kama-meshi." The kama-meshi is cooked to order and served with toppings for the second serving. Finally, it is turned into ochazuke. Don't forget to try their miso soup as well.

A restaurant I never want to visit again. The food looks different from the photos, and the "kama-meshi" they advertise is just rice cooked in a pot! And it's expensive too!
