When I had business in this building, I saw a sign outside mentioning that there were restaurants in the basement. Since I had some time before my appointment, I decided to have a meal first. There were two restaurants in the basement, a Western-style restaurant and a sushi restaurant. It was a hot day, so I chose the Japanese restaurant. It is a long-established restaurant founded in 1970. When I entered the restaurant and tried to sit in a corner as I was alone, the owner kindly suggested, "It's cooler over here, so this seat would be better for you." I was happy to receive such thoughtful consideration. The lunch menu had several options, with prices including tax: Sushi Set (1000 yen) - 6 pieces of nigiri, 2 rolls, miso soup, chawanmushi. Surprise Set (1100 yen) - 9 pieces of nigiri, 2 rolls, miso soup, chawanmushi. Sushi Tempura Set (1500 yen) - 5 pieces of nigiri, tamago, inari, chawanmushi, miso soup, 5 tempura pieces. Tatsumi Set (1900 yen) - 9 pieces of nigiri, uni, ikura, miso soup, chawanmushi. The dishes were served by the owner's wife, who had a bright and kind demeanor. She spoke gently to the customers. I ordered the Sushi Set (1000 yen). The rice was of standard quality, and the sushi pieces were larger than usual. There were shrimp, tuna, amberjack, sea bream, eel, squid, etc. Inside the rolls, there was cucumber and sesame. The miso soup had a mild taste, with tofu and wakame. The chawanmushi had a flavorful broth with shiitake mushrooms, kamaboko, and corn. The owner's wife warned me that it was hot. Before leaving, the owner mentioned that eating the hot chawanmushi helped him deal with the heat outside. The wife reminded me to be careful in the heat and to come back again. The warm and friendly nature of the restaurant owners made it a delightful place. Such a restaurant with a personal touch is rare and truly comforting. I can imagine feeling happy enjoying food and drinks here in the evening.
