This time, I went to Sushiya-gun, Shimemachi, Oaza Minamisato 24-5. I visited Mr. Sushiya Udon Minamisato store for lunch. Let's enjoy some delicious udon! I couldn't decide between the classic meat and burdock tempura udon or just burdock tempura udon, but I went with the burdock tempura udon. The crispy burdock tempura was delicious as always. The broth was also to my liking. Thank you for the meal.

It can be difficult to order nabe-yaki udon when going with multiple people. The photo shows motsu nabe udon. Why not all order a dish that takes time to prepare together?! Even though the dish takes time to cook, it will be brought out at the same time, so there's no need to wait. Let's gather friends who want to eat nabe-yaki udon and head to Sanchan Udon! I had the ebi ten nabe-yaki udon. It is brought out at the same time and you don't have to worry about inconveniencing others. This is great! Thank you for the meal!

During the New Year's holiday, there are few empty restaurants. When I arrived at the restaurant at 2 PM, there were 5 groups waiting, and many people were coming one after another. Today, my wife's recommendation, the simmered tripe udon, was delicious, and the large rice was overflowing. It was so tasty. I think having a handkerchief is a must.

I chose the Yuki-san Happiness Set (Botamochi) for 880 yen, which includes the popular No. 1 meat and burdock udon, the No. 1 bowl of pork cutlet and egg, and the famous botamochi. It was very delicious.

I had breakfast at Shisan for the first time. I wasn't confident in finishing the udon, so I imagined a jumbo inari and miso soup. The jumbo inari was much bigger than I expected, with lots of filling which made it satisfying to eat. The miso soup was also delicious with plenty of ingredients. I should have gone for the large size!

Usually, this old man doesn't carry much money, but on this particular day, he had around 700 yen. With limited options, the choice for a meal was between udon and ramen, and udon was chosen to fill the stomach. While driving near Minami-sato in Shime-cho, Kasuya-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture, the old man stumbled upon Shisan Udon, a udon restaurant originating from Kitakyushu City. Visiting the restaurant past 12:30 on a weekday, he found a crowded place with a waiting line. He was seated at the counter and ordered the Zaru Udon for 440 yen, unable to afford the larger portion. The udon was served quickly, with a generous amount of noodles that were soft and chewy. The noodles were cold and firm due to being rinsed in cold water and served with chilled broth that had a slightly salty and sweet taste. Despite the use of seafood, the flavor was not very prominent. The dish came with a good amount of toppings including green onions, grated ginger, and wasabi, which added to the enjoyment of the meal. Although the price of 440 yen for a satisfying portion of noodles was reasonable, the constant stream of customers indicated the popularity of the place. Fukuoka might be the second udon capital after Kagawa Prefecture. Visiting Shisan Udon reminded the old man of another udon restaurant, Makino Udon, which he had not visited in a while. He made a mental note to visit it soon. Ultimately, having a meal with noodles is a wallet-friendly option.

I didn't eat anything myself, but according to my wife, the oden and ohagi here are delicious. I bought some fries as a snack from the nearby McDonald's. However, I love the yakisoba here. It's the best when you sprinkle fish flakes on top and eat it.

I also love udon, but Mr. Sato's oyakodon is seriously delicious! I don't have it often, but it never disappoints in quality. It's not as refined as the oyakodon at Shinshu Soba Murata. It's a hearty dish where you dig right in! The chicken is finely chopped and there's plenty of it, the sweet sauce is quite thick, which I like for oyakodon. The half-cooked egg on top is perfect. Sprinkle some shichimi spice on it and it's just perfect! The combination of sweet sauce and spicy shichimi is great. You can get it as a single item with miso soup for 630 yen, or add mini udon for an extra 130 yen.

I wanted to eat Katsudon, so I was discussing with my wife while driving, and then I saw a sign and was drawn into the restaurant (lol). It was dinner time on the weekend, so the parking lot was full, but when we entered, we were told we could sit at the counter right away. I ordered the Katsudon with egg & mini udon for 850 yen. I hesitated when looking at the menu, but I had already decided from the beginning (lol). We were seated near the register and kitchen, with the oden corner right in front of us. My wife suggested trying the oden, but I tend to overeat when I'm hungry, so I decided to think about it after eating! Before I knew it, the food was brought to us! The soft-boiled egg was delicious - it must have matched my mood that day. The combination of katsu, egg, and rice was so good! The portion size of the rice was satisfying, so I left the restaurant feeling full. After paying, I remembered about the oden (lol).

This day was filled with activities from early morning until late at night, and when we arrived in Shime, Kasuya District, Fukuoka Prefecture, it was already past 8:00 PM. We decided to have dinner first, so we looked for a restaurant where we could eat quickly, and we found "Sanzan Udon Minamisato Branch," a chain udon restaurant that opened its first store in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture in 1976, near Aeon Mall Fukuoka along Fukuoka Prefecture Route 24. There were a few customers already, but since it was a weekday night after 8:00 PM, we easily found a table to sit at. After ordering our dishes, we waited while drinking the self-service water provided. About 5 minutes after ordering, my "Mini Udon with Gyudon Set for 800 yen" was served, consisting of a mini-sized kake udon with a Gyudon topping and a "Sanzan" logo kamaboko. I topped the already set free tenkasu and tororo kombu on the mini udon, and then tried the Gyudon with it. The mini udon, with its soft and chewy texture diving into a broth with a strong fish and kombu flavor, was already delicious on its own. But with the addition of tenkasu and tororo kombu, the flavor doubled, and I ended up drinking all the broth. The tender beef and creamy egg, mixed with the sweet sauce on the Gyudon, were so delicious that I couldn't stop eating until I finished every last bit.

~Memo~ When it comes to noodles in Fukuoka, the image of "tonkotsu ramen" comes to mind, but actually, I feel like the people of Fukuoka have a "udon" culture. Fukuoka is also the birthplace of udon, so maybe that's why... Personally, I think the reason it's called the birthplace is because Hakata, which has deep connections with the continent, is located here... One of the top three udon chains in Fukuoka is the strong contender in Kitakyushu, "Sanzan Udon"... It's quite common in Kitakyushu, but there were fewer in Fukuoka city. The best part about this place is the "tororo kombu" that is placed on the table and you can add as much as you want (*´∀`)♪ This is a great service. I didn't hesitate to add a lot of it (laughs). Are we going to eat udon or are we going to drink the dashi with tororo kombu in it? There is a wide variety of set meals available! Of course, the udon almost always comes with "gobo tempura." It's my favorite among the top three chains because it's reasonably priced and has a wide menu selection.

Tonight is a bit chilly for May, so I decided to have hot pot udon for the first time in a while. It cost ¥850 and I also added rice cakes for ¥130. It was reliably delicious. My stomach is super full!
