I went to Shin-Imamiya and visited Spa World this time. It was my first time, even though I think it has been around since Festival Gate was built. I did some research beforehand and decided to check it out. The location is about a 3-minute walk east from Shin-Imamiya Station. It's not directly connected, but there is parking available. First, I bought a ticket from the machine. I showed my JAF card and got a 200 yen discount, so I entered for 1,300 yen that day. I was given a wristband, which could be used for all payments inside the facility. I started with the baths, and I was surprised to see so many different baths, all of which were quite clean. There were many people resting in the relaxation area, and I was impressed by how relaxing the facility was. The 8th floor is the pool area. I put on my swimsuit and took the elevator up. Since it was August, there were a lot of people. It's nice that there is a roof, so you can go on hot, rainy, or cold days. However, the facilities seem quite old and not very clean. Well, having baths, a pool, and a relaxing area for 1,300 yen is not bad. After a relaxing time, I headed to the food court on the 3rd floor. You can wear your facility-provided clothes or regular clothes. Payments can be made with the wristband. Outside food and drinks are not allowed here. Even though I researched beforehand, I was still surprised by the prices. A bowl of udon with fried tofu cost 700 yen, and a soft drink was 400 yen. It's almost the same price as a large beer I usually drink. Hmm... I ended up not buying anything and just drank water before leaving. Finally, I settled the payment with the wristband and left. The reason for not allowing outside food and drinks may vary, but with these prices, it's not very convenient, and I think more people might start sneaking in their own food and drinks. For a family, the cost of bathing and dining could easily reach 10,000 yen. It can be quite an expensive leisure activity.
