【A whirlwind tour of Osaka curry③】In Osaka, where the trend of creative spice curry is said to have originated, new restaurants continue to open one after another. However, Osaka curry is not just limited to that. There are also "sweet at first, spicy later" types and Sri Lankan styles, but this time we chose European-style curry! A recommended restaurant for those who declare themselves as meat lovers is "Koganeya." The location of the restaurant can be confirmed through Tabelog. Located in a quiet area a short walk from Shinsaibashi, the restaurant in the semi-basement exudes a unique atmosphere. Upon sitting at the table, you must decide between the Beef base, Chicken base, or Tomato base curry, and then choose your toppings, such as pork cutlet, mixed fry, crab cream croquette, or shrimp fry, offering a lineup that will delight Western food lovers as well. This time, as a meat lover, I had to order this: "Thick-cut pork fillet cutlet DX" for 1,510 yen. The curry, which is the restaurant's signature dish, has a beautiful appearance, and the presence of the meat is striking. The thick-cut pork fillet cutlet, cooked at a low temperature, has a stunning pink color. The crispy coating and the tender meat are a perfect match, rivaling even specialty pork cutlet shops. And the Beef curry... The curry starts with a refined bitterness, followed by the sweetness and umami of onions and fruits, and a sharp spiciness, perhaps from pepper? The beef floating in the curry sea is also delicious! It is made from carefully processed domestic black wagyu beef (brisket, neck) of A5 and A4 grades, simmered for over 5 hours. The bite-sized pieces of meat have an exquisite texture, and it's safe to say that they would be delicious even without teeth. The rich curry, paired with the best pork cutlet and beef, is nothing short of exquisite! This restaurant is sure to satisfy both curry and meat lovers. Thank you for the meal.
