In Hakata, the scenery was unique and wonderful, even though I wasn't very familiar with it. I arrived right at opening time and was seated at the counter. I chose a seat by the window, where I could see a scenery that matched my image of Hakata perfectly. I ordered the recommended miso offal hot pot, mentaiko, horse sashimi, and a draft beer. The service, food explanations, taste, and scenery were all excellent!

During a business trip in Fukuoka, I visited this restaurant for dinner with my colleagues. We waited for about an hour as they do not accept phone reservations. The restaurant is small but has a relaxed atmosphere. We ordered motsunabe (tripe hot pot) and sesame mackerel, but they were out of mackerel so they served us yellowtail instead. Each dish was carefully prepared and delicious. I would definitely visit this place again when I go back to Fukuoka. It's no wonder that many celebrities also frequent this restaurant.

Every time I pass by this store, there is always a long line of customers! I have visited a few times in the past and it has been a very popular store in recent years, so I decided to visit again after a long time! However, both the motsunabe and the sumotsu have a strong smell... It may be because they are so busy due to their popularity, but I don't think the offal is washed properly! Very disappointing! I don't think I will ever go there again!

"Maeda-ya Riverside Nakasu Store, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Hakata-ku, Kamikawabata-cho 3-1 Mizuhashi Building 1F. Inside the store, you will find many autographs of famous people. A restaurant that attracts many celebrities is usually a good choice. When you come to Fukuoka, eating motsunabe is definitely an option for many people. If you want to eat motsunabe in Fukuoka, this restaurant might be the place to go. Especially in this cold season, hot pot is perfect for warming up. The portion and taste were excellent. It's attractive to get plenty of vegetables in the hot pot. The restaurant is a bit small with not many seats available. It may get crowded on some days. Wagyu beef offal hot pot (miso) ¥1595 (tax included) x2
Appetizer ¥418 (tax included) x2
Peach Oolong Tea ¥638 (tax included)
The appetizer was eel sushi, which was a surprising and delicious choice. The wagyu beef offal was tender and flavorful, and the vegetables were also very fresh. We had to wait for about an hour to get a table around 6 pm, but it was worth it. It's recommended to make a reservation in advance to avoid waiting outside the restaurant.

The eel sushi served as the appetizer was delicious. I really appreciate such a nice starter. I also love the vinegar dishes here and always order them. On this day, I had the miso-flavored motsunabe. I enjoyed it with a non-alcoholic drink on the rocks. The small pot used for the drink was cute and made me feel warm inside. Thank you for the meal.

Anyway, this place is very popular. I wanted to entertain a friend visiting Fukuoka for the first time, so I made a reservation at this restaurant over the weekend. It's the type of place that is always fully booked, including its affiliated locations. Despite not being able to secure a reservation anywhere else the day before, I managed to get a reservation for the latest time slot at this restaurant. First of all, the restaurant is extremely small. It's a typical izakaya with average prices and a somewhat underwhelming atmosphere. The number of seats is limited, and the service is quite slow. However, the mentaiko, motsunabe, and basashi were undeniably delicious. The prices are reasonable. Also, when it comes to Fukuoka's specialty dish "gomasaba," this restaurant always says, "We only have kanpachi, not mackerel." Recently, many places have been using kanpachi instead of mackerel due to poor fishing conditions, but there are still some places that continue to offer gomasaba in abundance. It's disappointing that kanpachi is being served here, probably due to cost reasons.

Maeda-ya, a famous motsunabe restaurant, was fully booked and I couldn't make a reservation. It's a well-known place where you can just hop in a taxi and say "Take me to Maeda-ya in Nakasu." Despite being a small shop, it's very clean and adorned with lots of autographs from celebrities. I ordered some appetizers like smoked tongue and raw cow stomach. Some places serve dishes that are too sour or have a bad texture, making them hard to eat, but here everything is just right, just right, and I love it. The motsunabe is also beautiful, with tender and easy-to-eat tripe. However, the staff's service is very poor. Not necessarily bad, just lacking in friendliness.

This is the place to go for motsunabe in Nakasu! Although it was my first time here, it's always crowded and popular. The small restaurant can fit about 20 people, and smoking is only allowed outside. The location by the river is nice for a refreshing break. The motsunabe here is undeniably delicious! It's simple yet flavorful, with no unnecessary ingredients. I highly recommend it to others.

When it comes to Fukuoka, motsunabe is a must. And when it comes to motsunabe, Fukuoka is the place. I visited various motsunabe restaurants in Fukuoka, but personally, my number one choice is Maedaya. The taste is just amazing! Not to mention the atmosphere and service were also great. I was impressed by the dishes other than motsunabe as well. And the motsunabe as the finale was a knockout. If I were to eat motsunabe in Fukuoka in the future, I would definitely want to make a reservation at this restaurant first. It's a place I definitely want to visit again.

I was looking for a motsunabe restaurant that was open late at night, and I found this place available, so I called ahead before visiting. The restaurant had a mix of counter and table seating and was relatively busy. Even though I arrived 30 minutes before last order, they welcomed me warmly and I felt very comfortable! I have been to this restaurant twice, and was recommended miso on my first visit, which was delicious, and this time I tried soy sauce which I also enjoyed! I realized that I must be a soy sauce lover wherever I go haha. From the appetizer to the motsunabe, to the champon noodles at the end, everything was delicious and I was very satisfied!

Popular restaurant in Hakata, but the shop in Nakasu is disappointing. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait quite a bit before being seated. And above all, the female staff's customer service was terrible. The shop is small, so when I accidentally bumped into a female staff member, there was not even a word of apology. Can't they at least say "excuse me" or "I'm sorry"? The food might be delicious, but I don't remember it because of the unpleasant experience. I generally consider eateries that serve delicious food as godsend, but I will never go back here again. I just hope they can provide customer service that matches the price they charge.

I had forgotten to share my travel experience in Fukuoka. Tonight's accommodation is in Nakasu, Hakata. I have visited all 47 prefectures in Japan, but Hakata has always been just a transit point for me, and I had never had dinner here before. When I asked the hotel front desk if there was a place where I could eat motsunabe alone, despite not being a drinker, they recommended Maedaya nearby. It wasn't in the guidebook, so it's always good to ask. There was a sign at the entrance saying "Solo customers welcome," so I felt at ease entering. The beef motsunabe for one person was priced at 1593 yen, but there was an additional charge of 420 yen for the appetizer at the time of payment, making it over 2000 yen. It was a bit expensive. I remembered the tour guide saying, "It's better to ask about the appetizer charge when you enter." I felt like they were giving off an attitude like, "You're ordering just the appetizer even though it takes 20 minutes to cook?" The motsunabe, my first experience, had a unique texture with white, round beef tripe and a spicy soy sauce broth. This is a taste that is hard to replicate at home. I topped it off by adding local yuzu pepper to the soup and finished it all. During my trip, I had only been eating what I liked and was lacking in vegetables, so I was able to replenish with cabbage, garlic chives, burdock, etc. Well, it's all about the experience, but I thought maybe I've had enough of motsunabe, especially since I tried it in its hometown of Hakata. Lastly, the somewhat unfriendly kitchen staff surprised me by serving me soba tea as a gesture of goodwill. Thank you for welcoming solo customers.

I decided on motsunabe for dinner in Fukuoka. I looked it up online and found this restaurant. I arrived at 6pm on Saturday and was able to get in without waiting in line. The interior of the restaurant is clean, although it's a bit smaller than I expected. I ordered miso-flavored motsunabe. I also wanted to try the sesame mackerel, but they were out of mackerel that day, so I had sesame kampachi instead. It was very delicious!

Recently, all the popular restaurants have been fully booked, but I decided to try my luck and called the Riverside Nakasu store on the same day. It turned out they had an opening. The cozy and warm atmosphere with wooden decor was lovely. The horse sashimi I had with a birthday coupon was incredibly delicious. The miso soup was also consistently good.

After returning from Canal City, I visited this restaurant for the first time. I ordered the soy sauce flavored motsu nabe for 1518 yen and the sesame mackerel for 1078 yen. I later found out that there was an additional charge for the appetizer, which was around 400 yen. The miso flavor is recommended, but I didn't know that at the time due to lack of information. The sesame mackerel was fresh as advertised on the menu. The restaurant seemed to cater mainly to tourists. The beer was ice cold and delicious.

When you come to Fukuoka, you must try motsunabe (tripe hot pot). Instead of our usual go-to spot, we decided to try a new place my wife found. Luckily, there was an opening on a reservation site (probably just for us), so we were able to get in easily. The restaurant was small with a counter for 6 seats and 3 tables. We usually stick to soy sauce flavor for motsunabe, but this time we went for the recommended miso flavor. The hot pot arrived with all ingredients except for leeks already cooked, looking quite beautiful. We started eating by dipping leeks in the broth. The garlic was strong, the miso rich but not overpowering, and the tripe and cabbage were cooked just right. We devoured it all in no time. For the finale, we had curly noodles instead of our usual choice. Adding green onions, which I'm not usually a fan of, enhanced the flavor of the noodles and broth. Miso, not bad at all! In fact, it was delicious! Highly recommended.

I was recommended this restaurant by a gourmet expert familiar with Fukuoka, near Canal City. The walls were filled with signatures of celebrities! I followed the staff's recommendation and ordered miso instead of soy sauce. The soup arrived simmering hot and had a gentle flavor that warmed me up. It was delicious... I always thought Hakata had strong flavors, but most of the dishes here had a mild taste... The motsu (offal) was tender and melted in my mouth! So good... I tried a bit of yuzu kosho halfway through for a change in flavor. I heard that many restaurants in Fukuoka have yuzu kosho placed on the table! In Kyoto, it's common to see matcha salt instead. I finished with Hakata noodles, which were unique and delicious! They went well with the mild soup, and although I initially thought the portion was large, before I knew it, I had finished it all! Thank you for the meal!

I arrived in Hakata and first went for a stroll in Canal City. After seeing everything, I headed to a highly rated restaurant for my first meal. It's getting colder, so it's the perfect time for motsunabe (offal hot pot). On the way back to the hotel, I found a stylish and cozy restaurant to dine in. I started with a beer and ordered a spicy motsunabe with a new menu item, shirako (fish milt) with ponzu sauce. The shirako was delicious, but I had to refrain from eating too much due to its high purine content. The motsunabe had a subtle broth and the offal added even more flavor. Eating it with yuzu pepper was the best. I can't wait to go back next time!

While strolling around Canal City, I came across Maedaya, a famous restaurant known for its motsunabe (offal hot pot). I had never been to the Riverside branch before, so I decided to give it a try. The exterior was stylish and chic, and the view from inside, as well as the atmosphere, were great. They even had a counter where you could enjoy motsunabe alone. The restaurant wasn't very big, making it perfect for solo diners or couples looking for a cozy meal. They served pressed sushi as a complimentary appetizer, which was a nice touch. I ordered the soy sauce-based motsunabe, which was delicious with tender vegetables and chewy offal. The fatty broth coated my mouth, adding a hint of sweetness. The sweetness of the vegetables combined with the flavors perfectly. I also highly recommend the sesame mackerel! I love sesame mackerel, and this one did not disappoint. It's rare to find a place where every dish is a hit, so I might just come back here alone next time.
