After clam digging, head over to the nearby Izumisano Fishing Port Blue Sky Market. I had a mini salmon bowl, followed by freshly fried conger eel tempura and potato tempura. The conger eel tempura was surprisingly thick and freshly fried, so I enjoyed it while it was still hot. You can bring your own rice and have a lunch outdoors under the blue sky after finishing shopping, which could be a nice idea. This market mainly focuses on purchasing fresh fish and seafood to take home. There are a couple of dining places, but most vendors will call out to you with discounted prices. I got 7 thick slices of yellowtail (Hamachi) for 500 yen! I grilled 3 slices with salt for tonight's side dish, and the rest I made into simmered yellowtail. When buying slices at the market, they are roughly thrown into a bag, regardless of bloodlines. I have a cooler box in my car, so I can keep the freshness to a certain extent, but if you plan to buy more slices, it might be better to wash them in running water, wipe them dry, and carefully pack them for the trip home. There was also a shop offering a whole yellowtail for 1000 yen, saying they would prepare sashimi for you, but it's better to think about how to take it home for a more enjoyable meal. I actually brought home some clams, soaking them in seawater, and once back home, I immediately purged them of sand. It's been about 3 hours now, so I'll move them to the refrigerator, but if you just take the clams as they are and leave them in the car without water for hours, they might die and spoil your dish. So, after going through all that, I hope the clam dish I'll have tomorrow turns out delicious. Of course, I'm also looking forward to the simmered dish I'm making now. Make sure to have freshly cooked rice ready! #CongerEelTempura #PotatoTempura
